I've done extensive research on this one this as well, Manuel Lakunza is definitely the one who started it as part of the counter reformation, also Jesuit Francisco Ribera. John Nelson Darby heard one of his readings and brought this teaching to America.

Who is really teaching “Replacement Theology” ? (Did God fulfill His promises to the Jewish people at Calvary? Matthew 26:28, John 19:30) The advocates of modern Dispensational Theology often accuse others of promoting “Replacement Theology”, or some may even say “Antisemitism”. What does the Bible say about their accusations? 1. Who is replacing Christ as the seed of Abraham through which all the families of the Earth would be blessed in Genesis 12:3, with Abraham’s modern descendants? (See Galatians 3:8) 2. Who is replacing the one people of God in John 10:16, with two peoples of God ? 3. Who is replacing the one seed (Christ) in Galatians 3:16, with the many seeds? 4. Who is replacing the children of the promise in Romans 9:8, with the children of the flesh? 5. Who is replacing the faithful “remnant” of Israelites in Romans 11:1-5, with the Baal worshipers? 6. Who is replacing the word "so" in Romans 11:26, with the word "then"? 7. Who is attempting to replace the Church made up of all races of people, with one made up only of Gentiles? Why did Peter address the crowd as “all the house of Israel” in Acts 2:36, when about 3,000 Israelites accepted Christ on the Day of Pentecost? 8. Based on Hebrews 9:15, the New Covenant cannot be separated from the Messiah’s death. Is the covenant in Daniel 9:27 connected to the Messiah’s death in Daniel 9:26. Is the covenant with the “many” in Daniel 9:27 the same covenant with the “many” in Matthew 26:28? If it is, some have replaced the New Covenant in Daniel 9:27 with a future covenant made by an antichrist not found in Daniel chapter 9. (See the 1599 Geneva Bible used by the Pilgrims.) 9. Those promoting the Two Peoples of God doctrine of Dispensational Theology often accuse others of teaching “Replacement Theology”, but are they the masters of it? Are they promoting a form of Dual Covenant Theology based on race? (See “genealogies” in Titus 3:9) 10. Watch the RUclips video “Genesis of Dispensational Theology” to see the origin of this man-made doctrine, which is less than 200 years old. It was brought to the United States about the time of the Civil War by John Nelson Darby. The doctrine was later incorporated into the notes of the Scofield Reference Bible, and then spread through much of the modern Church. Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas Texas was created in part to promote John Darby’s Two Peoples of God doctrine of Dispensational Theology. Lewis Sperry Chafer, the first president of Dallas Theological, had the following to say about the difference between Israel and the Church:
“The dispensationalist believes that throughout the ages God is pursuing two distinct purposes: one related to the earth with earthly people and earthly objectives involved which is Judaism; while the other is related to heaven with heavenly people and heavenly objectives involved, which is Christianity.” Lewis Sperry Chafer, Dispensationalism (Dallas, Seminary Press, 1936), p. 107. Chafer states that, ‘Israel is an eternal nation, heir to an eternal land, with an eternal kingdom, on which David rules from an eternal throne,’ that is, on earth and distinct from the church who will be in heaven.” Lewis Sperry Chafer. John Walvoord, another prominent voice of Dallas Theological stated… "...it is an article of normative dispensational belief that the boundaries of the land promised to Abraham and his descendants from the Nile to the Euphrates will be literally instituted and that Jesus Christ will return to a literal and theocratic Jewish kingdom centred on a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. In such a scheme the Church on earth is relegated to the status of a parenthesis.” John F. Walvoord, The Rapture Question.1979, p. 25 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are there two peoples of God in John 10:16? (See also 1 John 2:22-23, 2 John 1:7-11.) What is the land promise to the Old Testament Saints in Hebrews 11:15-16? Based on 2 Peter 3:10-13, is this earth “eternal”? Will it be replaced by a new earth? Based on Acts 2:36, and Romans 9:6-8, and Romans 11:1-5, and Hebrews 12:22-24, and James 1:1-3, can faithful Israel and the Church be separated into two different groups? Who is the New Covenant promised to in Jeremiah 31:31-34, and Hebrews 8:6-13? Will modern Orthodox Jews ever be saved outside of the New Covenant Church?
What he gave was only an eschatological view of dispensationalism. Much more important is the soteriological aspects. Especially the doctrine and power of an indwelling Holy Spirit, the Keswick Convention, Watchman Nee, The Green Letters, and how this theology did not come to the churches through the Universities as much as through the Laity and the press through books, magazines, newspapers and revival meetings. He did mention Moody and his evangelistic campaigns. It was the soteriology aspect that hit America and me like a bomb in the mid 1900's.
Christ died once for all, no more sacrifices for sins forever. Hebrews 10:12. This is clear. So to teach that the Jews will be offering up sacrifices again for their sins when Hebrews 10:12 says no more sacrifices lets us clearly no that Dispensationalism is another gospel and anyone who teaches such is cursed according to scripture. Galatians 1:6-9. What's at stake here is the negating of the finished work of Christ on the cross, so you need to repent and believe the word of the Lord.
Weak argument. Ezekiel 44 never says the sacrifices are for sins...most likely in "rememberance" as we do with communion. Bread n wine as body n blood. The only argument against a literal millenial reign of Messiah is this assumed purpose of the altar...a bit weak.
@@Innocueous1 Ezekiel never said that. Yet look what the so called Jews are up to on their own sight and you will see they have been offering up sacrifices for sins. We can doubt here say but not when you see it broadcast to the world on live TV.
The law will lead many to christ. That is what the law is meant to do. No one ever got saved by animal sacrifices. All those animal sacrifices had to be redeemed by Christ.

People use the alleged two hundred year history of dispensationalism as a proof of it's falseness. Does that mean salvation by grace through faith never existed before 1517?

First century Jews actually believed in the original form of Dispensational Premillennialism in which the Messiah would come and restore the Kingdom of Israel, and whether or not Jesus was about to do that was the last question he was asked him in Acts 1 before his Ascension. But the Catholics seized power and enforced a new doctrine that said the church was now Israel and their leader was ruling the Kingdom in his place until the end of time. Then after the Protestant Reformation when religious liberty flourished again, free men read the word of God for themselves and some found Jesus’ original doctrines, among them that God had not abandoned Israel, Jesus will take righteous saints to the place he prepared in heaven before the great tribulation, then he will return to earth and destroy the corrupt world religious and political system, and he will rule the world from David’s throne for 1,000 years. By the way, neither Luther nor Calvin nor Eastern Orthodox churches ever reformed the Catholic eschatology, and a person could have gotten themselves arrested and charged with treason and heresy for talking about Jesus actually restoring the Kingdom of Israel, and some say that was due to a deep rooted Antisemitism they shared with the Catholic rulers. That history is always ignored when people claim that these rediscovered doctrines are false because they’re recent inventions by English-speakers. The rediscovery was a function of when and where people had the most religious and political liberty. But the proof of the pudding, of course, is in the Bible itself, which is why false teachers allegorize these exact prophesies away. Maranatha!
I kept thinking as Chris talked, "what about this or that passage in the Old and or New Testaments"; what about Romans 9-11?; Rev. 14 rapture?; Israel being blinded until the age of the gentiles comes to an end; great falling away; antichrist in Pauls letters and especially one fold and one Shepherd? Or in Rev. "where the beast and false prophet WERE" (setting a literal timing) for Satans defeat and a literal reign of Christ after the thousand years? I'll stay a Baptist and a Biblicist who trusts the Scriptures over men's interpretations, as I need no man to teach me, BUT..... Tim

Then there is Mid Acts Dispensationalism that begins in Acts 9 when God called Saul of Tarsus/Paul on the scene and gave him a revelation of the Mystery which is the Body of Christ and the present age of Grace .

Every time I try to explain Dispensationalism to my family, I am very emotional about it and biased.(I think Dispensationalism is the Great Apostacy.) Therefore my family cannot hear what I am saying because they are all Dispensationalist and don't even know it.
Very interesting. I had a recent discussion with my mother and while what she describes always to be hyper disspensationist she does think some of the covenant theology things, at least according to Mr. Ross's explanation. I think maybe she misunderstands some things and makes great assumptions about what others think if they disagree. For example, I think it is important to support Israel but tend to lean towards New Covenant so if I have any criticism of her explanations she assumes I hate Israel and think they have been replaced. She says things like, "oh, that book of the bible wasn't written for us" when I talk about my Bible Study of Hebrews. But when I ask if she means we shouldn't study Hebrews, she says no, we should. So why say that? Very confusing. I feel like she and I need to go through and study the Bible together, but she prob won't want to cuz I use a translation other than KJV.
I was a dispensationalist even before I knew any theological definitions. Because I know that God can speak clearly to humankind. I don't buy the idea that ; mere mortals could explain better what God meant to say in His holy scriptures.
Part 2/2 In Mark 11 Jesus curses the Fig Tree. Now 30+ times in the OT the Fig Tree or Figs is mentioned and it refers to Israel. Deuteronomy 8;7-8 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey;...Hoseal 9:10a “I found Israel Like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers As the firstfruits on the fig tree in its first season." You can see a study on Mark 11 here: ruclips.net/video/oja6HDre2k8/видео.html So when Jesus curses the Fig Tree this is a bad sign for Israel but Jesus also tells us a lot. It says that He cursed it and the next day it was dead. On the biblical calendar 75 AD was the beginning of the next day and the next age. So the biblical day went from the 4th Day to the 5th day (75-1075 AD is the 5th day) but also the age of Torah ended at the end of the 4th Day. So when the Temple and Jerusalem were destroyed that began on one biblical day but by 135AD when the Jewish people had all been exiled it was the next day and a new age. Jesus cursed the Fig Tree in 32AD and it took 103 years til 135AD to be fulfilled. We also know from Daniel 9 that the Messiah the Prince was to suffer the death penalty in 32AD before the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem (Daniel 9:26) However, Jesus in Mark 13 says in connection to His return: 28 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that He is near-at the doors! 30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place." He says the Fig Tree will bloom again. Meaning the curse isn't forever and it'll happen when we are to look for His return. Since we have the biblical calendar it's easy to see roughly when the 2nd Coming is and how long this exile was going to last. 75AD was the biblical year 4000. The messianic age is the year 6001-7000. So if we assume 103 years for the curse to be fulfilled why not assume 103 years for the curse to be undone. 2075 AD year 6000- 103 =1972AD. We should have all expected that by 1972 at the latest the Jewish people would return to the Land of Israel again. We just happen to see it occur in 1948. Jesus predicted it would always happen. Ezekiel 37:21-23, Jeremiah 24:3-8 show us the promise of gathering the Jewish people back into the land and that the LORD will give them a heart for Him again. This wasn't invented in the 1800's or whatever. This is the biblical narrative. We also see the idea of a 7 year period prior to the 2nd Coming of Jesus that early Christians wrote about. To understand the context of these authors we need to understand the lineage of disciples. The Apostle John taught Polycarp, Polycarp taught Irenaeus, and Irenaeus taught Hippolytus. Irenaeus (about 180 AD) who wrote his 5 volume works called “Against Heresies” “In 2 Thessalonians, the ‘falling away’ is an apostasy and there will be a literal rebuilt temple. In Matthew, the ‘abomination spoken by Daniel’ is the Antichrist sitting in the temple as if he were Christ. The abomination will start in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week and last for a literal three years and six months. The little horn is the Antichrist. Against Heresies 5.25 Hippolytus wrote 2 works of multiple chapters on the topic. Hippolytus (170-235 AD) wrote a 67 section/ chapter writing called "The Antichrist - a Treatise on Christ and Antichrist" "Now Daniel will set forth this subject to us. For he says, “And one week will make a covenant with many, and it shall be that in the midst of the week my sacrifice and oblation shall cease.” Daniel 9:27 By one week, therefore, he meant the last week which is to be at the end of the whole world, of which week the two prophets Enoch and Elias will take up the half. For they will preach 1,260 days clothed in sackcloth, proclaiming repentance to the people and to all the nations." ...For John says, “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.” Revelation 11:3 That is the half of the week that Daniel spoke about. “These are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks standing before the Lord of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire will proceed out of their mouth, and devour their enemies; and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy; and have power over waters, to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues as often as they will.” Revelation 11:4-6 And when they shall have finished their course and their testimony, what does the prophet say? “the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them,” Revelation 11:7 because they will not give glory to Antichrist. For this is meant by the little horn that grows up. He, being now elated in heart, begins to exalt himself, and to glorify himself as God, persecuting the saints and blaspheming Christ, even as Daniel says, “I considered the horns, and, behold, in the horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things; and he opened his mouth to blaspheme God. And that born made war against the saints, and prevailed against them until the beast was slain, and perished, and his body was given to be burned.” Daniel 7:8 Notice how the 70th week of Daniel or the 7 year tribulation as it's called today was written about long ago as well. I know this is a lot of information but I wanted you to see these aren't new ideas, this aren't false doctrines. We have to test if they're correct but these are doctrines long held by those in biblical times or shortly after. Not in the 1800's as many believe. I hope this helps. Take care.
@@reysquadron7820 Not every book of the Bible is about Christians but for Christians. Hebrews isn't about Christians, it's important to understand the context. For example, many misuse or misunderstand Hebrews 10: 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries...29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Often some Christians use this passage to show someone can lose their faith. When that's not the context at all. The context is that this was written to the Hebrews/Jews that believed in Jesus but went back to the Temple to participate in the sacrifices because they lacked faith. Verse 1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once [a]purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. But through Jesus 10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, But they doubted and went back to the sacrifices and that would bring chastizement from the LORD to defile Jesus's sacrifice. So this was a strong warning to stop. My questions to Christians today even if this said that they could lose their salvation by going back to the sacrifices and dishonoring Jesus's sacrifice are any Christians guilty of sacrificing animals for the atonement of their sins today? No. So the text isn't about us or to us and to try to twist it to become some ethereal or symbolic application to us today is in my opinion wrong and can easily develop into a false teaching. Covenant Theology doesn’t assume “figurative” land... but that the whole earth was given to Israel... which would include the land we think of as the country of “Israel.” Think concentric circles... the next circle doesn’t negate the prior... it expands it... fulfills it... completes it.
Overall, very helpful and accurate. One major error is he said that Covenant theology only emerged 50 years before dispensationalism (to be fair, he did say "if not more"). In fact, Covenant theology was first clearly articulated at the time of the Reformation in the late 1500s. It had its precursors in Augustine, and ultimately, the Bible.

The word dispensationalism has been highjacked to mean a variety of things, In the scriptures there are divisions, How far you take these division is how well you study and interpret scriptures. I do appreciate this video God bless you
Dispensationalism is easily refuted by God in his own Word. Don't be fooled by their claim to take the bible literally. They take the old testament covenants literally, for the most part, but do not take the new testament literally. A perfect example of this is Paul in Galatians 3. Please read the entire chapter, then in vs 29 Paul says that in Christ, " we are the seed of Abraham, and heirs of the promise...." What is the literal translation of the words Paul used there? What would that phrase mean to a former pharisee, Paul? How would the Galatians understand this? All of these questions point to the fact that we are now of the people of faith in God, Israel. We don't replace, we are added to Israel. Paul makes this clear in Romans where he says the gentiles were a wild olive tree grafted into the original olive tree, Israel. How many olive trees are there that are blessed by God? There is one, not two. There's more to this, but this suffices for anyone who holds God's Word as true to understand the theory of dispensationalism is a crafty myth.

Then check out a bible search engine online, go to KJV for the version, and type in branches or olive tree. You will see what is written in the Bible for yourself. Don't believe me. See it yourself.
We belong to a Bible study group who study the Scriptures dispensationally. We are guided by the writings and various books of the late Mr.Charles H. Welch who founded the Chapel of the Opened Book based in London. We study the Bible based on the words of the Risen Christ revealed to St.Paul found in 2Tim2:15 & 2Tim 3:16&17. Basically we study Scriptures on the basic principle that God has a 2fold purpose for His creation (Gen1:1...God created the heavens and the earth) Expanding this verse we learn that God's gift of Salvation thru His Son Christ Jesus , we(saved man) are given the hope of eternal life. And where to spend his eternity... here is where we use the Key of understanding which is 2Tim 2:15.... Rightly dividing Scriptures (dispensationalism) will lead us to see the ff. Truth. 1) the saved Jews and grafted Gentiles will spend their eternity on earth either in: a) New Jerusalem or b) paradise (never closed) 2) the heavenly program called The Mystery Program revealed only in Ephesians where Jews and Gentiles on equal footing now will spend their eternity in heaven Eph 1:3. Instructions for the heavenly program is clearly outlined in the 7 Prison epistles . So using the key of 2Tim2:15 we learn that we are now under the Dispensation of Grace where Jews and Gentiles have been made one ( Eph.2:13-16) our instructions for the Truth for Today is found in the 7 prison epistles namely: Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians, Titus, Philemon, 1st and 2nd Timothy. We share this belief in the hope that many seeking Christians might find it useful to understand better the Word of God and understand the unfolding purpose of God for this age

So it is the same w Darby and Scolfield- don't just believe, look up the history of these people and KNOW why these foundations are corrupt..... As a fellow dispensationalist, I agree with your concerns about pessimism and uncritical support of the modern state of Israel. Not that we should discard dispensationalism, but that we should guard ourselves against these tendencies. Thank you!

Very interesting presentation brother! I didn't hear you mention (Historical Premillennialism) or ( pre-wrath theology) I myself see some truth and some errors in most of those different views but I don't categorize myself in any one view but believe in good ole Bible study to determine where truth and non truth are in each if those views mentioned. If anyone believes that there is no need to pay attention to current events as related to Bible Prophecy and or no need to share the gospel and helping those in need, then I would definitely say they are very wrong and shouldn't be listened to. There is one very false idea created by men of the Dispensational mindset and that is that Matt 24 and 25 is only written to the Jews and tribulation saints, and that in my opinion is very very misleading to the point of heresy because Paul taught over 30 parallels in 1st and 2nd Thess to what Christ taught in Matt 24 and the book of Revelation parallels and supports those teachings of Christ and Paul plus much more!!! I truly believe that most of these various theories and their errors will be exposed as false but not till after the particular prophecies are fulfilled, just like what happened back in Israel in the old Testament. I would strongly recommend reviewing Dan 9:26-27 and the first three seals of Rev 6 because I think we're further along in the prophetic time table than the vast majority think. If anyone wants to know why this is, then just ask and I will share some in depth scriptural reasons why. ✝ ✝ ✝😮😊
lol.... in the first two minutes of it he shares that he is going to defined dispensationalism... but first we must get to the root of the word.... and then he states that the root of the word is dispensation.... NO... the root of the word is "to dispense".. which means "to give out" or to "do away with..." NEVER did it mean an "era of time" until Darby changed the definition.

And since you believe the Darby conspiracy theory, I urge you to research Dave MacPherson who made it up, and an historian Dr William C Watson, the most recent historian to debunk this conspiracy theory.
Don't get hung up on an English word, Scott. The original word was Greek: 'oikonomia' used by apostle Paul 4 times, variously translated at dispensation, ecoomy, administration, and clearly refers to an era of time as per context. A question I would have for the speaker: At what point or which scriptures do Covenant Theologians consider show that unfulfilled prophecy will be fulfilled figuratively? Surely they believe Jesus came physically and He physically died on the cross and physically arose; so where is the change that He will not physically return at the second coming? If they do believe He will physically return, then on what scriptural ground do they stand permitting many Biblical writings to be taken figuratively?

I thought your presentation on dispensationalism was very good, with the exception of a couple of things: first, you did not present the seven dispensations accurately. Although you did referred to the tribulation as possible separate dispensation among some, you referred to the eternal state as a dispensation of its own. However, in classical dispensationalism, the eternal state does not qualify as a dispensation, because it does not end in a judgment. All dispensations represent a failure of mankind followed by a subsequent judgment. The eternal state does not have this distinction. It is after all, the age of ages, after the consummation and restitution of all things. Also, I felt you could have represented dispensationalism in a far better light when you were referring to your so-called pessimism remarks. Dispensationalists are not pessimists; they fully understand that a world without Christ will eventually become a world, ruled and blessed by Christ, from the millennium onward. Thank you for the lesson. I listened to it twice and my thought is still the same and even slightly reinforced. I was a protestant / dispensationalist but didn't realize it. It was not packaged as such and only when we study the Bible for ourselves do we start to see the basis of our religion / theology. Having done that (finally) for myself I am no longer a protestant. Anyone who is a believer in the "God" (Yah) and the "Jesus" (Yeshua) of the bible and you think... in part or in whole.... His laws have been done away with or changed.. you are a dispensationalist. Lets get back to the Bible and do and say what those gentile converts were shown and told what to do. IMO your study should start with the 7th Day Sabbath as its the easiest to see from beginning to end.
The gospel in the acts period had two dispensations one for the jew one for the gentile then the apostle paul got a new dispensation when Israel were dismissed during his imprisonment.
Acts 28 has some good critiques of others but offers no solution! Acts 28 is the third repetition of what started in Acts 13. There is absolutely nothing new when you get to Acts 28.
Here’s the problem with environmentalism and social justice. Both of those movements are being co-opted by United Nations and governments around the world. Dispensationalism in NOT an era of time except in retrospect. It is an administration or stewardship of God's program for mankind regardless of a timespan. Dispensationalism dates WAY further back than you mentioned and did not begin with a Jesuit. In some of the writings of the early church fathers you will find snippets of dispensational thought. As a Mid-Acts dispensationalist (the church begins in Acts 13 with the Apostle Paul to the Gentiles APART from the law and works of righteousness), I was surprised to not hear you mention us, a world-wide movement even mentioned by Ryrie in his book. We believe in what was written in Eph. 3 that the "dispensation of the grace of God" was given to the Apostle Paul for the present day church which is the Body of Christ distinct from the church of "The Way" which was added to on the Day of Pentecost (not begun).
Chris Ross state that Manual Lacunza was the first to mention "dispensational" eras..... hmmm... Lacunza's book is available at www.birthpangs.org/articles/prophetic/Lacunza_vol1.pdf I imagine that he did not coin the concept of "dispensational eras", but understood different eras of time like everybody else.... but if your willing to actually read Lacunza's work and point out the page number, I'd be willing to except this earlier definition.
The so-called church fathers mentioned dispensations. That does not mean they were Dispensationalists as we know them but as Watson's book: Dispensationalism before Darby, documents, lots of dispensational ingredients were in the air a few hundred years before Darby.

When I grew up in Dispensational circles, I never heard any such thing. There were some sensationalists out there apparently on the radio but none of them had the attention of the bulk of Fundamentalist Dispensationailists.

Those who ignore the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 will continue to be in error. Christ said at Matthew 26:28 that He would fulfill this covenant in His Blood. It is found in effect at Hebrews 8:6-13 and in verse 13 we find that the New Covenant has made the Old Covenant "obsolete". It is applied to the Church in Hebrews 12:18-24. It is "everlasting" in Hebrews 13:20. The New Covenant was promised to Israel and Judah. On the Day of Pentecost Peter addressed the crowd as "men of Judea", then as "men of Israel" and in Acts 2:36 as "all the house of Israel". On that day about 3,000 Israelites accepted the New Covenant promised to Jeremiah. If you look in the 1599 Geneva Bible, which is the Bible the Pilgrims brought to America, you will find that the covenant with the many in Daniel 9:27 is the same covenant with the many in Matthew 26:28. Dispensationalists have created a time machine by changing a covenant confirmed by Christ into a treaty broken by an antichrist not mentioned by the angel Gabriel, by adding a "gap" of time not mentioned by the angel. It also ignores any time that the Gospel was taken to Daniel's people during the first century, even though Christ clearly commanded that the Gospel was to be taken "first" to the Israelites. It was not taken to the Gentiles until after Stephen reviewed the whole history of Israel and was then stoned to death. God ripped the temple veil in half on the day of Calvary. If God ripped the veil, who is going to repair it? Yet Dispensationalists claim God is going to deal with the modern nation of Israel under the now "obsolete" Old Covenant during a future time period of 7 years when they will go back to keeping the Sinai covenant. They claim the Age of Grace ends even though the New Covenant is "everlasting". They ignore those under the Blood of the Lamb in Revelation 12:11. A person cannot be under the Blood of the Lamb and not be under the Grace of the New Covenant. The 144,000 are described as "firstfruits" of the Lamb. Paul uses the same term to describe Christians in Romans 16:5. The Olive Tree of Romans 11 is a symbol of the New Covenant Church made up of Israelites and Gentiles grafted together into one tree. Paul says that the branches broken off can be grafted back into the tree through faith in Christ. Paul provides no other path of salvation. Dispensationalists have changed the word "so", which is an adverb of manner, into the word "then", which is an adverb of timing, in Romans 11:26. In verse 27 they have taken the New Covenant fulfilled at Calvary for all races of people and have converted it into a covenant to be fulfilled in the future. You will almost never hear a sermon on the New Covenant in a Dispensational church, because the New Covenant destroys the doctrine.

In Romans 11 Paul uses the Olive Tree as a symbol of the New Covenant Church made up of faithful Israelites, and faithful Gentiles grafted together into the same tree. There is no Plan B of salvation outside of the Church found in the chapter.

The definition of dispensation is household rules, economy or dispensing of instruction/ information. Nothing to do with time. Unless you think you can have two time periods going at once. Take Acts 15 the Jews are saved by obeying the law but the gentiles are not. Luke is writing about dispensations. But Paul is the apostle of the dispensation of grace, Eph. 3:2 and Col 1:25 the word is on the pages. Dispensationalism has been around as long as the apostle Paul started as a minister to the Gentiles. Men (scholars) can't agree because mostly they are full of themselves and their ideas. The scholars have the physical bible out of sync in that the NT starts at Matthew 1:1. But Hebrews 9: 16] For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. [17] For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. If I read this literally the NT starts after Jesus died. Was Jesus dead in Matthew 1:1?
Your definition of dispensation is correct and that is what Ryrie presented it as in his book. But then he proceeds to use it and treat it as an era of time abandoning the correct definition in practice.

8. Based on Hebrews 9:15, the New Covenant cannot be separated from the Messiah’s death. Is the covenant in Daniel 9:27 connected to the Messiah’s death in Daniel 9:26. Is the covenant with the “many” in Daniel 9:27 the same covenant with the “many” in Matthew 26:28? If it is, some have replaced the New Covenant in Daniel 9:27 with a future covenant made by an antichrist not found in Daniel chapter 9. (See the 1599 Geneva Bible used by the Pilgrims.)
9. Those promoting the Two Peoples of God doctrine of Dispensational Theology often accuse others of teaching “Replacement Theology”, but are they the masters of it? Are they promoting a form of Dual Covenant Theology based on race? (See “genealogies” in Titus 3:9)

Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas Texas was created in part to promote John Darby’s Two Peoples of God doctrine of Dispensational Theology.
Lewis Sperry Chafer, the first president of Dallas Theological, had the following to say about the difference between Israel and the Church:
“The dispensationalist believes that throughout the ages God is pursuing two distinct purposes: one related to the earth with earthly people and earthly objectives involved which is Judaism; while the other is related to heaven with heavenly people and heavenly objectives involved, which is Christianity.”

What he gave was only an eschatological view of dispensationalism. Much more important is the soteriological aspects. Especially the doctrine and power of an indwelling Holy Spirit, the Keswick Convention, Watchman Nee, The Green Letters, and how this theology did not come to the churches through the Universities as much as through the Laity and the press through books, magazines, newspapers and revival meetings. He did mention Moody and his evangelistic campaigns. It was the soteriology aspect that hit America and me like a bomb in the mid 1900's.

Christ died once for all, no more sacrifices for sins forever. Hebrews 10:12. This is clear. So to teach that the Jews will be offering up sacrifices again for their sins when Hebrews 10:12 says no more sacrifices lets us clearly no that Dispensationalism is another gospel and anyone who teaches such is cursed according to scripture. Galatians 1:6-9. What's at stake here is the negating of the finished work of Christ on the cross, so you need to repent and believe the word of the Lord.
Weak argument. Ezekiel 44 never says the sacrifices are for sins...most likely in "rememberance" as we do with communion. Bread n wine as body n blood. The only argument against a literal millenial reign of Messiah is this assumed purpose of the altar...a bit weak.

First century Jews actually believed in the original form of Dispensational Premillennialism in which the Messiah would come and restore the Kingdom of Israel, and whether or not Jesus was about to do that was the last question he was asked him in Acts 1 before his Ascension. But the Catholics seized power and enforced a new doctrine that said the church was now Israel and their leader was ruling the Kingdom in his place until the end of time.
Then after the Protestant Reformation when religious liberty flourished again, free men read the word of God for themselves and some found Jesus’ original doctrines, among them that God had not abandoned Israel, Jesus will take righteous saints to the place he prepared in heaven before the great tribulation, then he will return to earth and destroy the corrupt world religious and political system, and he will rule the world from David’s throne for 1,000 years.
By the way, neither Luther nor Calvin nor Eastern Orthodox churches ever reformed the Catholic eschatology, and a person could have gotten themselves arrested and charged with treason and heresy for talking about Jesus actually restoring the Kingdom of Israel, and some say that was due to a deep rooted Antisemitism they shared with the Catholic rulers. That history is always ignored when people claim that these rediscovered doctrines are false because they’re recent inventions by English-speakers. The rediscovery was a function of when and where people had the most religious and political liberty. But the proof of the pudding, of course, is in the Bible itself, which is why false teachers allegorize these exact prophesies away.

Every time I try to explain Dispensationalism to my family, I am very emotional about it and biased.(I think Dispensationalism is the Great Apostacy.) Therefore my family cannot hear what I am saying because they are all Dispensationalist and don't even know it.
Very interesting. I had a recent discussion with my mother and while what she describes always to be hyper disspensationist she does think some of the covenant theology things, at least according to Mr. Ross's explanation. I think maybe she misunderstands some things and makes great assumptions about what others think if they disagree. For example, I think it is important to support Israel but tend to lean towards New Covenant so if I have any criticism of her explanations she assumes I hate Israel and think they have been replaced. She says things like, "oh, that book of the bible wasn't written for us" when I talk about my Bible Study of Hebrews. But when I ask if she means we shouldn't study Hebrews, she says no, we should. So why say that? Very confusing. I feel like she and I need to go through and study the Bible together, but she prob won't want to cuz I use a translation other than KJV.
I was a dispensationalist even before I knew any theological definitions.
Because I know that God can speak clearly to humankind.
I don't buy the idea that ; mere mortals could explain better what God meant to say in His holy scriptures.

In Mark 11 Jesus curses the Fig Tree. Now 30+ times in the OT the Fig Tree or Figs is mentioned and it refers to Israel. Deuteronomy 8;7-8 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey;...Hoseal 9:10a “I found Israel Like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers As the firstfruits on the fig tree in its first season."

So when Jesus curses the Fig Tree this is a bad sign for Israel but Jesus also tells us a lot. It says that He cursed it and the next day it was dead. On the biblical calendar 75 AD was the beginning of the next day and the next age. So the biblical day went from the 4th Day to the 5th day (75-1075 AD is the 5th day) but also the age of Torah ended at the end of the 4th Day. So when the Temple and Jerusalem were destroyed that began on one biblical day but by 135AD when the Jewish people had all been exiled it was the next day and a new age. Jesus cursed the Fig Tree in 32AD and it took 103 years til 135AD to be fulfilled. We also know from Daniel 9 that the Messiah the Prince was to suffer the death penalty in 32AD before the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem (Daniel 9:26)
However, Jesus in Mark 13 says in connection to His return:
28 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that He is near-at the doors! 30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place."
He says the Fig Tree will bloom again. Meaning the curse isn't forever and it'll happen when we are to look for His return.
Since we have the biblical calendar it's easy to see roughly when the 2nd Coming is and how long this exile was going to last.
75AD was the biblical year 4000. The messianic age is the year 6001-7000. So if we assume 103 years for the curse to be fulfilled why not assume 103 years for the curse to be undone. 2075 AD year 6000- 103 =1972AD. We should have all expected that by 1972 at the latest the Jewish people would return to the Land of Israel again. We just happen to see it occur in 1948. Jesus predicted it would always happen. Ezekiel 37:21-23, Jeremiah 24:3-8 show us the promise of gathering the Jewish people back into the land and that the LORD will give them a heart for Him again.
This wasn't invented in the 1800's or whatever. This is the biblical narrative. We also see the idea of a 7 year period prior to the 2nd Coming of Jesus that early Christians wrote about.
To understand the context of these authors we need to understand the lineage of disciples. The Apostle John taught Polycarp, Polycarp taught Irenaeus, and Irenaeus taught Hippolytus.
Irenaeus (about 180 AD) who wrote his 5 volume works called “Against Heresies”
“In 2 Thessalonians, the ‘falling away’ is an apostasy and there will be a literal rebuilt temple. In Matthew, the ‘abomination spoken by Daniel’ is the Antichrist sitting in the temple as if he were Christ. The abomination will start in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week and last for a literal three years and six months. The little horn is the Antichrist. Against Heresies 5.25 Hippolytus wrote 2 works of multiple chapters on the topic.
Hippolytus (170-235 AD) wrote a 67 section/ chapter writing called "The Antichrist - a Treatise on Christ and Antichrist"
"Now Daniel will set forth this subject to us. For he says, “And one week will make a covenant with many, and it shall be that in the midst of the week my sacrifice and oblation shall cease.” Daniel 9:27 By one week, therefore, he meant the last week which is to be at the end of the whole world, of which week the two prophets Enoch and Elias will take up the half. For they will preach 1,260 days clothed in sackcloth, proclaiming repentance to the people and to all the nations." ...For John says, “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.” Revelation 11:3 That is the half of the week that Daniel spoke about. “These are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks standing before the Lord of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire will proceed out of their mouth, and devour their enemies; and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy; and have power over waters, to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues as often as they will.” Revelation 11:4-6 And when they shall have finished their course and their testimony, what does the prophet say? “the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them,” Revelation 11:7 because they will not give glory to Antichrist. For this is meant by the little horn that grows up. He, being now elated in heart, begins to exalt himself, and to glorify himself as God, persecuting the saints and blaspheming Christ, even as Daniel says, “I considered the horns, and, behold, in the horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things; and he opened his mouth to blaspheme God. And that born made war against the saints, and prevailed against them until the beast was slain, and perished, and his body was given to be burned.” Daniel 7:8
Notice how the 70th week of Daniel or the 7 year tribulation as it's called today was written about long ago as well. I know this is a lot of information but I wanted you to see these aren't new ideas, this aren't false doctrines. We have to test if they're correct but these are doctrines long held by those in biblical times or shortly after. Not in the 1800's as many believe. I hope this helps. Take care.

For example, many misuse or misunderstand Hebrews 10: 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries...29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Often some Christians use this passage to show someone can lose their faith. When that's not the context at all. The context is that this was written to the Hebrews/Jews that believed in Jesus but went back to the Temple to participate in the sacrifices because they lacked faith.
Verse 1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once [a]purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
But through Jesus
10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God,
But they doubted and went back to the sacrifices and that would bring chastizement from the LORD to defile Jesus's sacrifice. So this was a strong warning to stop.
My questions to Christians today even if this said that they could lose their salvation by going back to the sacrifices and dishonoring Jesus's sacrifice are any Christians guilty of sacrificing animals for the atonement of their sins today? No. So the text isn't about us or to us and to try to twist it to become some ethereal or symbolic application to us today is in my opinion wrong and can easily develop into a false teaching.

Covenant Theology doesn’t assume “figurative” land... but that the whole earth was given to Israel... which would include the land we think of as the country of “Israel.” Think concentric circles... the next circle doesn’t negate the prior... it expands it... fulfills it... completes it.
Overall, very helpful and accurate. One major error is he said that Covenant theology only emerged 50 years before dispensationalism (to be fair, he did say "if not more"). In fact, Covenant theology was first clearly articulated at the time of the Reformation in the late 1500s. It had its precursors in Augustine, and ultimately, the Bible.

Dispensationalism is easily refuted by God in his own Word. Don't be fooled by their claim to take the bible literally. They take the old testament covenants literally, for the most part, but do not take the new testament literally. A perfect example of this is Paul in Galatians 3. Please read the entire chapter, then in vs 29 Paul says that in Christ, " we are the seed of Abraham, and heirs of the promise...." What is the literal translation of the words Paul used there? What would that phrase mean to a former pharisee, Paul? How would the Galatians understand this? All of these questions point to the fact that we are now of the people of faith in God, Israel. We don't replace, we are added to Israel. Paul makes this clear in Romans where he says the gentiles were a wild olive tree grafted into the original olive tree, Israel. How many olive trees are there that are blessed by God? There is one, not two. There's more to this, but this suffices for anyone who holds God's Word as true to understand the theory of dispensationalism is a crafty myth.
One great comment follows another. I completely agree with this sound logic and understanding. Let God's Word speak plainly! To twist, distort, complicate, and confuse is the work of the Devil. b) paradise (never closed)
2) the heavenly program called The Mystery Program revealed only in Ephesians where Jews and Gentiles on equal footing now will spend their eternity in heaven Eph 1:3.
Instructions for the heavenly program is clearly outlined in the 7 Prison epistles .
So using the key of 2Tim2:15
we learn that we are now under the Dispensation of Grace where Jews and Gentiles have been made one
( Eph.2:13-16) our instructions for the Truth for Today is found in the 7 prison epistles namely:
Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians, Titus, Philemon, 1st and 2nd Timothy.

I didn't hear you mention (Historical Premillennialism) or ( pre-wrath theology) I myself see some truth and some errors in most of those different views but I don't categorize myself in any one view but believe in good ole Bible study to determine where truth and non truth are in each if those views mentioned. If anyone believes that there is no need to pay attention to current events as related to Bible Prophecy and or no need to share the gospel and helping those in need, then I would definitely say they are very wrong and shouldn't be listened to. There is one very false idea created by men of the Dispensational mindset and that is that Matt 24 and 25 is only written to the Jews and tribulation saints, and that in my opinion is very very misleading to the point of heresy because Paul taught over 30 parallels in 1st and 2nd Thess to what Christ taught in Matt 24 and the book of Revelation parallels and supports those teachings of Christ and Paul plus much more!!! I truly believe that most of these various theories and their errors will be exposed as false but not till after the particular prophecies are fulfilled, just like what happened back in Israel in the old Testament. I would strongly recommend reviewing Dan 9:26-27 and the first three seals of Rev 6 because I think we're further along in the prophetic time table than the vast majority think. But the Koine Greek word in the Bible that’s translated into English as “dispensation” is οἰκονομία (oikonomia, Strong’s 3622), and it means management, stewardship, administration.
Obviously, Darby had no effect on the meaning of these words nor the translators who chose to translated oikonomia as “dispensation”.

Surely they believe Jesus came physically and He physically died on the cross and physically arose; so where is the change that He will not physically return at the second coming?

I thought your presentation on dispensationalism was very good, with the exception of a couple of things: first, you did not present the seven dispensations accurately. Although you did referred to the tribulation as possible separate dispensation among some, you referred to the eternal state as a dispensation of its own. However, in classical dispensationalism, the eternal state does not qualify as a dispensation, because it does not end in a judgment. All dispensations represent a failure of mankind followed by a subsequent judgment. The eternal state does not have this distinction. It is after all, the age of ages, after the consummation and restitution of all things. Also, I felt you could have represented dispensationalism in a far better light when you were referring to your so-called pessimism remarks. Dispensationalists are not pessimists; they fully understand that a world without Christ will eventually become a world, ruled and blessed by Christ, from the millennium onward. Dispensationalism in NOT an era of time except in retrospect. It is an administration or stewardship of God's program for mankind regardless of a timespan. Dispensationalism dates WAY further back than you mentioned and did not begin with a Jesuit. In some of the writings of the early church fathers you will find snippets of dispensational thought. As a Mid-Acts dispensationalist (the church begins in Acts 13 with the Apostle Paul to the Gentiles APART from the law and works of righteousness), I was surprised to not hear you mention us, a world-wide movement even mentioned by Ryrie in his book. We believe in what was written in Eph. 3 that the "dispensation of the grace of God" was given to the Apostle Paul for the present day church which is the Body of Christ distinct from the church of "The Way" which was added to on the Day of Pentecost (not begun).

The so-called church fathers mentioned dispensations. That does not mean they were Dispensationalists as we know them but as Watson's book: Dispensationalism before Darby, documents, lots of dispensational ingredients were in the air a few hundred years before Darby.

When I grew up in Dispensational circles, I never heard any such thing. There were some sensationalists out there apparently on the radio but none of them had the attention of the bulk of Fundamentalist Dispensationailists.

Dispensation comes from the same word as dispense where the word dispenser comes from. Ever hear of a soap dispenser? Nothing to do with a period of time. Moses was GIVEN the law and Christ GAVE us grace.

Those who ignore the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 will continue to be in error. Christ said at Matthew 26:28 that He would fulfill this covenant in His Blood. It is found in effect at Hebrews 8:6-13 and in verse 13 we find that the New Covenant has made the Old Covenant "obsolete". It is applied to the Church in Hebrews 12:18-24. It is "everlasting" in Hebrews 13:20. The New Covenant was promised to Israel and Judah. On the Day of Pentecost Peter addressed the crowd as "men of Judea", then as "men of Israel" and in Acts 2:36 as "all the house of Israel". On that day about 3,000 Israelites accepted the New Covenant promised to Jeremiah. If you look in the 1599 Geneva Bible, which is the Bible the Pilgrims brought to America, you will find that the covenant with the many in Daniel 9:27 is the same covenant with the many in Matthew 26:28. Dispensationalists have created a time machine by changing a covenant confirmed by Christ into a treaty broken by an antichrist not mentioned by the angel Gabriel, by adding a "gap" of time not mentioned by the angel. It also ignores any time that the Gospel was taken to Daniel's people during the first century, even though Christ clearly commanded that the Gospel was to be taken "first" to the Israelites. It was not taken to the Gentiles until after Stephen reviewed the whole history of Israel and was then stoned to death. God ripped the temple veil in half on the day of Calvary. If God ripped the veil, who is going to repair it? Yet Dispensationalists claim God is going to deal with the modern nation of Israel under the now "obsolete" Old Covenant during a future time period of 7 years when they will go back to keeping the Sinai covenant. They claim the Age of Grace ends even though the New Covenant is "everlasting". They ignore those under the Blood of the Lamb in Revelation 12:11. A person cannot be under the Blood of the Lamb and not be under the Grace of the New Covenant. The 144,000 are described as "firstfruits" of the Lamb. Paul uses the same term to describe Christians in Romans 16:5. The Olive Tree of Romans 11 is a symbol of the New Covenant Church made up of Israelites and Gentiles grafted together into one tree. Paul says that the branches broken off can be grafted back into the tree through faith in Christ. Paul provides no other path of salvation. Dispensationalists have changed the word "so", which is an adverb of manner, into the word "then", which is an adverb of timing, in Romans 11:26. In verse 27 they have taken the New Covenant fulfilled at Calvary for all races of people and have converted it into a covenant to be fulfilled in the future. You will almost never hear a sermon on the New Covenant in a Dispensational church, because the New Covenant destroys the doctrine.

@@jamesedwards.1069 Paul begins Romans 11:1-5 with two different groups of Israelites. One group rejected God's plan, and the other group was a faithful "remnant". In Romans 11 Paul uses the Olive Tree as a symbol of the New Covenant Church made up of faithful Israelites, and faithful Gentiles grafted together into the same tree. There is no Plan B of salvation outside of the Church found in the chapter.

The definition of dispensation is household rules, economy or dispensing of instruction/ information. Nothing to do with time. Unless you think you can have two time periods going at once. Take Acts 15 the Jews are saved by obeying the law but the gentiles are not. Luke is writing about dispensations. But Paul is the apostle of the dispensation of grace, Eph. 3:2 and Col 1:25 the word is on the pages. Dispensationalism has been around as long as the apostle Paul started as a minister to the Gentiles.
Men (scholars) can't agree because mostly they are full of themselves and their ideas. The scholars have the physical bible out of sync in that the NT starts at Matthew 1:1. But Hebrews 9: 16] For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
