I enjoy seeing clips of you conversing with locals or with co-travelers. gives the impression (to anyone planning to travel alone) that you're not technically alone when you go solo 😃
Thanks for sharing your hotel budget. I was wondering how much to spend if traveling India for over a month. That's a nice hotel you got for that amount.
While India is fairly inexpensive, but if you're traveling long term, many backpackers will still try to make their dollar stretch to travel longer. I look for deals where I can be frugal without compromising much of my comfort. =)
+Ed Agent Yay. It's worthwhile. A lot of festivals in India are focused around spiritual. This is interesting because it's based around livestock selling. 🐫🐪
I live in a little community (Yuba City) in CA, US with at least 5 Sikh temples. The biggest Sikh festival outside of India happens here. I wonder if the swords you saw were from Sikh vendors. Swords are certainly a big part of Punjab and Sikh festivals here. And the code of honor is admirable, one of the few cultures that if a teen boy, for example, is in a fight he's expected to end it without harming the bully (as protection of all is important) and even trying to preserve the idiot that jumped them's dignity. I do believe that the Sikh anti-poaching ranger squads in Africa are considered amongst the most effective (there's no question people know how to fight) Frankly, I love and admire my neighbors because they are always determined to leave any place they step better for them having been there. One of the holy men spoke of Christian friends teaching compassion and forgiveness and Muslim friends teaching self-discipline. All people, men and women of any faith or ethnicity are equal. There is an incredibly huge ethic of hospitality and after spending over two decades here I have NEVER seen a Punjab pass anyone homeless without stopping (pulling over) to help. Frankly anything stolen from Sikh guardianship while I was visiting a temple (yes, with head covered and shoes off respectfully) insofar as "checking shoes etc" would cause quick and widespread outrage within the Sikh community. Oh gosh, a thief would be considered so against everything Sikhism is. I get your caution with belongings whilst traveling but if you ever have a chance, find a way to visit a Sikh temple (where rule 1 seems to be no one shall ever be hungry!) ps: is 'SEEK' the pronunciation in India? I've only ever heard 'SiK' (like "pick") here, but the culture is certainly transplanted where I've experienced
Thanks for sharing, I actually just got back from Kolkata a week ago.... thanks 🙏 for all your Kolkata tips, it sure comes in handy... next trip to India... I will try this place too.
GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa yes I did take that food tour... I loved it 😀👍 we also went to a Bengali restaurant and try the food... I love love Kolkata... i went to all the places you've suggested 👍 queen Victoria palace, the temples ....I wanna go back this December to India ... thanks so 😘👍
The guide i had during our trip to Rajasthan was a member of the Gurudwara Singh Sabha..and we ate in the hall at the back ...was an awesome experience.
love your vlogs they are just natural and so real ... suggestion enable like and dislike option so that people may know how much we loves your travel vlogs
I have the Canon 80D now. Just got it. I used the t3i for several years. I am concerned about whether it's practical or not for quick video - (I'm a photographer- not so much with the video) - I was thinking of getting a camcorder today but now I'll probably get the G7 II. Your videos always look great. My travel list at this point is a Christine list for sure...
+Joel Graham I used my T2i for yeaaaars and only upgraded about a year or two ago to 70d mostly for the flipout/ touch screen. I probably still favor my rebel a bit for its size. The video quality is good on both but it's nothing like the ergonomics and built in zoom of a camcorder.
Vivek Bhalla I visited Pushkar and Jaipur for the festival in Nov 2017 and I recommend 3 days (2 nights) for Pushkar then 2-3 more days for Jaipur depending on how you like it. Edit: If you visit Pushkar outside of festival season then you can probably reduce the visit to 1 night's stay.
Hi there Christine, this is a very informative video ! I'm visiting India in a few months and I might consider visiting Pushkar during my stay in Rajhastan. I'm wondering if you could share us how to buy train and bus tickets in India? Thank you :)
+Hoi Bintang check my How I travel India playlist. Travel tips, train videos. Additionally I share more India related tips on the video about taking tours. Informative vids will have links to more on my blog. 😁
You are really great! You counted almost every place in Pushkar But you forgotten a place Vipassana centre There meditation courses runs I'm joining the 10 day course in Pushkar on 10th April 2019. Hopes, you will also give a attention towards it. And You don't really need to come Pushkar just for Vipassana Course Cuz, this Course runs all over the world, for free. Lord Buddha! Jai Shree Radhe Krishna🙏
Never try 'BHANG' 6.42...Or anything even related to it....Specially if you are a girl and solo....If you are in a group then its fine...& like your all other videos i loved this video...👌👌
Depends on the quality or quantity you are consuming....Sometimes its effects lasts for 6 to 10 hours..& its enough time to get robbed and worst...But it is not dangerous ....Beautiful drink if properly made and consumed in a limited quantity....But as a tourist avoid it ..Specially if you are a girl & alone...
GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa No women dont drink it...Specially in villages..But in Advanced cities some women do drink it on certain festivals like HOLI..and it has nothing to do with culture...There are some people who rumored that lord SHIVA...(a hindu god ) used to drink bhang...So they drink it as blessings...And its actully illegal if caught selling bhang...The drinks tourists actually gets are either flavoured or illegal...
haha you have no idea how much fun village women have, venture in rural rajasthan on holi, and you'll have women going around singing double meaning songs and infact are drunk lol
+Rhenn Morgan only a falafel. Yet there were so many people lined up for that place and I watched them cook it. So maybe it was just an off falafel. Watch my street food safety tips video. That should help with distinguishing good street foods.
Thanks for mentioning how you felt after eating that falafel. The thing I am most nervous about when traveling to India is food sanitation! I'm vegan so I'm already hyper aware of what I eat but I am learning about unsanitary water and just the different ways in which food could be harmful. I have a lot of research to do and your videos are very informative and helpful for my up coming solo travels. Much love!
We are from India. Senior citizens. Our advice is wherever you go try eating simple vegetarian food freshly ( or immediately ) boiled and cooked food with little oil and spices. Specifically and strictly order for it at the restaurant.
Yes, they are. But I'm not sure what the owners do with them; I feel like I've seen homeless-looking ones eating waste in Varanasi. Cows are considered holy in India, so they're allowed to roam.
- "They curse you..." lol Creepy. - I love the culture of this place. I am debating. I want India next...but more business opportunities for me in Indonesia. Ughhh...the decision-struggle is real 😅

Thanks for sharing your hotel budget. I was wondering how much to spend if traveling India for over a month. That's a nice hotel you got for that amount.
Agreed. Very helpful to know your longer term budget in India.
While India is fairly inexpensive, but if you're traveling long term, many backpackers will still try to make their dollar stretch to travel longer. I look for deals where I can be frugal without compromising much of my comfort. =)
India never disappoints 😊

Thanks for that great component. You seem very educated about Sikhism. Its a way of life rather than a religion that people have made it out to be.
Aaaw, the beautiful Pushkar! I visited there back in 2007, really want to go again :)
I can turn you Rajasthan, I want to be your friend.
Great vedio Christine....Keep it up
Lovely video .. Pushkar is one of my favourite places

I so agree.....Pushkar is very confronting around the lake area. A huge push for money collection. But a very pretty small town.

+Exposing Liars Once when I was staying in Dharamsala for a month. But it wasn't as bad as Delhi Belly. It went noticed for a while.
Thailand is possible-- huge street food culture.
Avoid too much street food
Try fruits and vegetables on road in rajasthan it is best there

Never try 'BHANG' 6.42...Or anything even related to it....Specially if you are a girl and solo....If you are in a group then its fine...& like your all other videos i loved this video...👌👌
Agreed. While I'm curious about it, as a solo female it's just not smart. HOw long does that stuff last?
Depends on the quality or quantity you are consuming....Sometimes its effects lasts for 6 to 10 hours..& its enough time to get robbed and worst...But it is not dangerous ....Beautiful drink if properly made and consumed in a limited quantity....But as a tourist avoid it ..Specially if you are a girl & alone...

+Rhenn Morgan only a falafel. Yet there were so many people lined up for that place and I watched them cook it. So maybe it was just an off falafel.
Watch my street food safety tips video. That should help with distinguishing good street foods.
It could also have been the bhang that made you lightheaded
What with the Dot???
Thanks for mentioning how you felt after eating that falafel. The thing I am most nervous about when traveling to India is food sanitation! Ok that person on the last moment speak better English than me...😅
Very nice video
Those cows that roam around the streets are they owned by anyone?
Yes, they are. But I'm not sure what the owners do with them; I feel like I've seen homeless-looking ones eating waste in Varanasi. Cows are considered holy in India, so they're allowed to roam.
No mostly not
Camara is not allowed at Ghats because women take a dip or bath in holy Lake and change clothes there.
- "They curse you..." lol Creepy.
- I love the culture of this place. I am debating. I want India next...but more business opportunities for me in Indonesia. Ughhh...the decision-struggle is real 😅

These are special kind of bread you will find in India but very rarely. We call them "Naadiya".
Hello, I watched a video about religious scams and someone was told shoes must be removed to walk around the lake ghats, is this correct? Thanks
Shoes must be removed when going into all temples. This was a holy bathing spot so I believe I removed my shoes and tied them to my backpack.
