Love chicken and dumplings. I actually have request for it when people come over. The best dumpling is made from bisquick. I never take short cuts in cooking so I never used it until my husband’s grandmother told me that how she makes them. It’s just better. I add a little seasoning, baking powder, and a few spoonfuls of AP flour so they aren’t too soft. Then just follow the directions on the box. I also top soup off with a bunch of grated parmigiana and tajin. I know it sounds nuts but I put it on most of my soups. It adds a little acid that a rich soup needs. I have turned at least 30 people on to the tajin trick.
“Supposed” to lol it’s not required. You make them to your taste, the heavy cream just helps thicken the soup base up a lil and gives it a creamy texture but you don’t have to use it, some people use sour cream, some use butter milk in their dumpling mixture and or vegetable shortening I mean there so many different ways to make it. Some roll their dough out and cut their dumplings out and then other people drop their dumpling mixture into the soup base a spoonful at a time and let it form that way. It’s just all up to you on how you want to do it or the flavor and texture that your looking for. Im not a professional licensed chef but I’ve only made this meal 100 times a year for the past 30 years and I’ve tried every way imaginable that you can make it and many different flavors
I don’t know how many of your videos I have watched. I have done your seafood, boil bags. I have made your beef stew as well as your chicken soup. I made your meatloaf tonight which I had serious doubts about. However, it was the best meatloaf that I’ve ever had.
That's how I make mine, not worrying too much about the carrots celery onion, I just use dry seasonings mostly. Its when I'm hungry and want something quick.
