After trying to use GAIA for over a week using outdated information and tutorials I gave up. With this new tutorial I can definitely see how to get some really good terrains up and running in no time! I appreciate the information and look forward to seeing more tutorials like this! Thanks!
When will custom biomes tutorial come out? That’s been the trickiest with GAIA. Specifically using our own custom trees and structures. Thanks. Great to see GAIA doing tutorials again
Awesome tutorial :D Loving the new features shown here. It would be very nice if we could have a tutorial done with the no pro version. that way we can clearly see what we can do with what we have. Thanks for all the hard work!
It really is cool. I just bought the WB bundle and am super excited to get started with it. I'm most interested to see what I can get away with in creating a full 3D procedurally generated map on mobile.
I take it using "Terrain" instead of generator or a graphic means I could generate terrains with my own system and use Gaia spawners to add the details? That could be useful.
I am still struggling with it ... I have spent all day trying to work out the new Unity HUB and then install Gaia ... and now in the manager I don't have any of the options like meadow ... the only option I have is Gaia pro sample which dumps me in the middle of a vast ocean with no way to move ( yes tried wads shift etc ) and no way to get out.
my pc is much stronger than any pc from the time this time of the video release any pc ever was able to, but it still after 6h of "importing assets..." i canceled it, i cant generate a terrain, no matter what detail and size, its loading for ever
Id like to know the best way when you spawb biome and fps dropes heavy. What is the best way too ptimize the scene so the vegetation doesnt drop fps to much i have bought the optimizer but still am building my scene. I use the standard pipeline could you give me some advice
Yes. We provide a bunch of sample assets and sample config to show you how to set things up. Gaia itself is extremely flexible. You can spawn whatever you want.
Recently bought Gaia Pro 2020, looks like 2021 is on sale for me for $90, is 2021 not a free upgrade from 2020? Don't mind paying for it just want to make sure before spending the money.
You can export yes, you would need to export the Vegetation with the package as well. As far as the Gaia Loaded, I am not sure what you mean? If you are referring to the Gaia Loading system this is dependent on Gaia systems (so the other project needs Gaia as well).
@@ssnightshadow sorry my question should of said without Gaia loaded..I want to create an island export it and put into another project without having Gaia loaded in my project?
@@random_precision_software As I've understood Gaia, once your terrain is done you can export it (and all associated assets - or reimport them) with no problem. Or even generate the terrain and remove Gaia afterwards. What you've generated will safely remain.

I would like to get some advice, I have been wanting to start making worlds like this for quite some years but I haven't really much knowledge of the softwares there is or how to use them. What I want to create is a world with forests, houses, etc to be able to walk around, it needs to be very big and I would also like to be able to add in custom objects as well as characters, however I have no real knowledge on how to do this or how to create it in a 3D program, I have played around some in Blender and done some character in MB Lab, however I find it a bit frustrating and hard to use, but maybe there are more user friendly alternatives? Personally it's not so important that it has high quality textures or what it's called, it would be enough to just have a custom painted skin on a character. I've done some world builing in Hammer for Source (Team Fortress 2) and I like that concept although it's a bit limited and outdated. So in this world I wanted to create I also want the characters to be able to interact somehow with me as I walk around in this world, like make them walk around or do movements, talk, etc. Also if possible create some vehicle like a car that one character can drive around in. I guess it takes a lot of knowledge in how to create something like this, but would you have any recommendation on which softwares to look into for this kind of a project?
My advice would be to explore the Unity asset store and start small. Limit yourself to 2km. We designed Gaia to be beginner friendly, and it will do 80% of what you want. It will make the terrain, set up water and lighting, populate it, and then add your character. You can use that as a starting point to make your game and learn. We have a free version of Gaia called Gaia ML in the link. If you like that then check out Gaia Pro - it as a lot more assets and you can make nicer looking scenes... alternatively, you can mostly do it with Gaia ML, but you need to configure more yourself. canopy.procedural-worlds.com/files/file/32-ai-game-development-toolkit-gaia-ml/.
Looks really good. Does Gaia Pro support real life terrain? If yes, do you guys mind making a video for this. Would greatly appreciate it. Also keep up the good work.
You can import real world terrain height maps and use it as base... but Gaia does not inherently support this. We have a new product called Gaia GeoSpatial under dev that does this natively.
