    This definitely isn't one of Mordecai's best moments, but it makes complete sense why he acts this way. Imagine going into a dead-end job with your best friend, and being the only reason your best friend got the job. Imagine, for the longest time, you've been more accomplished and more responsible than your best friend, and you've allowed him to drag you into trouble countless times over the course of years. Now you've gone through a devastating breakup, not once but TWICE, you're still in that dead-end job, and now your previously irresponsible friend is happy, has a steady girlfriend, and has his life on the right track, while you're going nowhere. That has to hurt, ESPECIALLY if you're as insecure as Mordecai. So I totally get why he acts the way he does.

      It isn't all Rigby's fault that mordecai ended up that Way, You can't make excuses for Mordecai When he is just asked the blame. Clearly by this episode he has a superiority complex over Rigby

    • @jamescarlisle4023
      @jamescarlisle4023 3 года назад +61

      I didn’t say Mordecai wasn’t in the wrong in this episode. He was, and he admits it in the end. I was just saying that there’s a legitimate reason why he acted this way. His “superiority complex” didn’t just come out of thin air. Rigby wouldn’t have been employed if not for Mordecai. He’s also the reason Mordecai didn’t get into college (he sabotaged his chance at that in the movie). And throughout the first five seasons, Mordecai is constantly trying to restrain him from his worst instincts because Rigby’s always dragging him into trouble. So when Mordecai and Rigby’s lives start going into opposite directions, it’s completely understandable that it hurts like hell for Mordecai. So naturally he projects that pain onto Rigby. It’s about where they were before and where they are now. It’s not much different from Rigby lashing out at Don. He’s bitter that his younger brother is bigger, more well-liked and more accomplished, and he projects that anger onto Don.
      I’m not saying he isn’t in the wrong, I’m saying it’s not as simple as “oh he’s just an asshole”. It’s an effect with a cause.

    • @jamescarlisle4023
      @jamescarlisle4023 3 года назад +33

      @@seddam most importantly it makes complete narrative sense. it needed to happen. what makes this episode one of the show's best is that it represents both characters' breakthrough into maturity. for Rigby that means graduating high school and becoming a more responsible adult. for Mordecai that means getting his life out of the gutter and going back to art school (hence why he tells Rigby "if you can do this, then that means..."). It's kind of funny that Rigby getting his life together is Mordecai's "oh shit, what am I doing" moment, but it's perfect in so many ways.

      Completely true but it still doesn’t make it right. You’re supposed to want the best for your best friends. To always look at your friend as if they’re inferior to you in messed up. Kinda like how Rigby did when he forged Modo’s acceptance letter. It was understandable but still completely and morally wrong.

    This scene actually made me very sad for many reasons:
    First and most importantly is because it is the last episode of the series "as we know it" (the regular adventures of Mordecai and Rigby along with their friends and recurring characters in the park)
    Second because they were all dealing with their most resembling problems: Rigby not being able of doing something everyone is counting on, Mordecai doing something for Rigbys well-being and Benson not finding his long life partner.
    Third because their all dealing with those things on their own.
    Forth because Mordecai didn't have anyone on his side to listen to him (Margaret or CJ)

    After everything Mordecai has faced, you’d think someone could’ve confronted him about it all. This is Rigby’s biggest day, and Mordo doesn’t seem to be thrilled by the fact his best friend is actually coming to his own.
    Anyone of these guys could’ve hit it to him with this: “Mordecai, you’re a great dude and all, but also a total loser. You’ve lost 2 opportunities for a girlfriend, and sure he may have screwed your chance at that College University, we’re very sorry for you. But today you have to support your best friend, he has worked hard for this. Celebrate today, and find something for yourself tomorrow. You do have a passion for art after all.” Even when Rigby did confront him, they didn’t really bring up all that.

      @@PowerRangersFanAntiDinoFury rigby made a mistake yes, but rigby had noble intentions behind the rejection. sit in rigby's shoes for a second, his dad was terrible and no one cared for him. mordecai was the ONE person who felt like family to him, losing mordecai was like losing a brother to him. the difference between rigby not being happy that mordecai got in and that he didn't was solely because rigby and mordecai wouldn't have been friends anymore. whereas here mordecai is just angry because of jealousy. mordecai has almost no excuses for being a dick too, his parents were amazing especially his mom who he always pushed away. and mordecai is not as loyal as rigby ever will be. rigby even trapped himself with the past mordecai in one episode because mordecai messed up with margaret, that's how much of a buddy rigby is. even after all of this shit life he will still be there for you, i garruntee you if the roles were flipped here and it was mordecai who graduated rigby would be happy especially knowing that he would still be friends with mordecai. that being said mordecai is also a great friend but if we're comparing which one is better i'm going to have to say rigby. mordecai and rigby are kind of comparable to GTA 5's character's trevor and michael. the reason why trevor is so loyal to his friends is because he has no family, this is the same with rigby who does have a family but not a great one, therefore he is loyal to his friends instead as he sees them as his family more than his own. mordecai is not as loyal just like michael because he has a family, i guess the difference is that michael had a family but not the best one whereas mordecai had a great family.

The one who was much more irresponsible than you and dragged you into countless predicaments over the years? Well now he’s got a steady girlfriend, he’s happy, and he’s getting his life in order. Meanwhile you just got out of two devastating breakups. What the fuck are you doing with your life?”
