I can’t express how grateful I am to have been apart of the generation who was able to witness this greatness while it was still on air. This had to be one of the best shows I could’ve laid my 10 yr old eyes on when it released. This show not only had guns but had the craziest plots, fights, characters, and not to mention the LICENSED MUSIC. Which was most definitely one of my favorite things about the show. Never a day in my entire life even as an 18 yr old, has seen a show that’s intended for teens have so many bangers…man was that a time to be alive..at the end of it all, I’m just proud to say that I watched this show from the very beginning, all the way to the end…and man do I not regret it.
Our generation may not have been cartoon network peak but it had it's bangers like adventure time, the amazing world of gumball and regular show. Good time to be alive.
The spicyness is actually produced by chemicals that some plants use as a defense mechanism, so basically spicy food is venomous (at a very low level). My theory is that F.E., mixing the chemicals of those things, made a sauce so hot that was venomous enough to provoke hallucinations. Yeah, I'll go with that, that sounds reasonable enough to Regular Show standards.
i’m pretty sure this episode was just supposed to be an allusion to how guys like to have dick measuring contests by seeing who can drink the most or do more drugs than the other person
poisonous, it'd be venomous if the plants bit you. and also yeah, hallucinogenics and other drugs are also usually poison produced by plants that we like the effect of.
10 year old me: wow those effects look cool and the song is badass. 20 year old me: oooooh that's an acid trip and is that... Is that song about a prostitute?
This scene is one of those I never quite forgot. They really made it perfect, its iconic without even getting that it's a drug joke, but it also hits different when you get older. Literally.
I just realized that spice is Regular Show’s equivalent of alcohol, with hot wings as beer, chili peppers as shots, and the Mississippi Queen as a really powerful cocktail Edit: Yeah yeah, I get it, some of you guys found it obvious way before I did. No need to get your panties tied in a knot.
@@billclintonstolemygirlfrie5516 and where'd you hear that? I'm pretty sure soda is the equivalent of beer, wings of stronger alcohol and this is the equivalent of very strong alcohol. The consumption of incredibly strong alcohol in large quantities can actually cause hallucinations
Okay, here's what really happened. They get real fucked up and stumble across the street towards the coffee shop nearly getting hit by traffic. They go inside and manage to controll their speech enough to order coffee. Margaret and Eileen put the cups on the counter which appear as two giant chilies. As Mordecai and Rigby reach for them their uncoordinated hands miss their mark, knocking the cups over and making a huge mess everywhere. Margaret and Eileen are all like "Holy shit! you guys are fucked up! we're calling you a cab." They pile in the taxi and as it starts moving they try to give the driver directions only to piss the shit out of him because none of them could manage to speak a single intelligible word of English. Half way down the road they realize they had no money after completely forgetting that Margaret had prepaid the cab before they left. Mordecai starts to feel sick so he opens the passenger side door of the currently moving vehicle, the sight of which Rigby and Benson take as a que to bail. All three are ejected and Mordecai starts projectile vomiting as he rolls looking like a burst beer can rolling down the street. They collect themselves and arbitrarily pick a direction to walk with no hint of where they are and by what seems to be a goddamn miracle find themselves regaining consciousness on the front lawn at the park.
The incredible thing about this scene is that you can perceive the fear and uncertainty of the mississipi drink, it is as if we were under the effect, wow
funniest thing about this show is that it was supposed to be intended for adults (explaining the “you pissed me off” scene) and J.G.Q pitched the show to adult swim but they turned it down. so they pitched it to CN, who would obviously only take it if the show was written around kids. So the writers have ingeniously written a show that kids will enjoy, but is basically still written for adults. There’s so many adult themes and references in Regular Show. Just take this episode alone for an example, they have a whole 2 minute long acid trip sequence and it will fly straight over a kids head 😭 absolute masterclass
the “you pissed me off” scene isn’t from the pilot and I’ve never heard confirmation this show was ever pitched to adult swim, esp since the original pilot doesn’t have any adult language or anything
@@usr01 that wasn't the pilot, that was a student film jg quintel made which was inspiration for regular show. the actual pilot is the one w/ mordecai and rigby playing rock-paper-scissors for the chair
Regular Show was actually intended for Adult Swim, but it got licensed for Cartoon Network last second. They couldn’t afford to scrap the episode’s that were going to air when it released though so they ended up just using what was there, leading to this beautiful ass scene about an acid trip.
@@Ryan-op7yd no it was intended for adult swim but the creators didn’t care they just wanted it to air. It got so far so good because it was a legendary show anyone who says otherwise is a dum chump^
It was meant to air on AS.But when they looked over it,they realised this show was not edgy enough to be on AS.So they shipped it to CN.I think it was better they did that because if it was on AS,it might not have the wide audience that it got on CN.And I think AS in 2010 was still called "The Stoner's Paradise" so,good thing Regular Show ended on CN.
So to recap, when the guy turns into ashes, is a metaphor that he left. Then the guys partied hard, Benson got the girl's number, went to the Coffee Shop, wanted coffee but were too wasted. Aileen and Margaret called a cab for them, the driver turns around to ask where they were heading, they got freaked out, jumped of of the cab and made it to the front of the house, where they passed out.
This sequence would have been right at home in '90s Nickelodeon. Rocko Heifer and Filbert could have been on the same trip and it would have totally fit. This show was phenomenal
JG Quintel: Guys I wrote and animated another drug trip sequence over the weekend!!! Other writers/animators: Ok guess we got to think of another way to put a drug trip into what is essentially a kids show.

Congratulations
Same here my friend
Congratulations my friend, because watching a show in specific is definitely something ''valuable'' or that ''should be awarded''
Our generation may not have been cartoon network peak but it had it's bangers like adventure time, the amazing world of gumball and regular show. Good time to be alive.
It's very good to rewatch too

The spicyness is actually produced by chemicals that some plants use as a defense mechanism, so basically spicy food is venomous (at a very low level). My theory is that F.E., mixing the chemicals of those things, made a sauce so hot that was venomous enough to provoke hallucinations. Yeah, I'll go with that, that sounds reasonable enough to Regular Show standards.
Plausible explanation but can't be that venomous to induce a drugged like state similar to consuming drugs like marijuana or meth
Nah bro, the Mississippi Queen was just acid. The show uses these types of tricks to censor any drug/alcohol related content.
i’m pretty sure this episode was just supposed to be an allusion to how guys like to have dick measuring contests by seeing who can drink the most or do more drugs than the other person
poisonous, it'd be venomous if the plants bit you. and also yeah, hallucinogenics and other drugs are also usually poison produced by plants that we like the effect of.

This scene is one of those I never quite forgot. They really made it perfect, its iconic without even getting that it's a drug joke, but it also hits different when you get older. Literally.
I just realized that spice is Regular Show’s equivalent of alcohol, with hot wings as beer, chili peppers as shots, and the Mississippi Queen as a really powerful cocktail

Hi Asuka
They collect themselves and arbitrarily pick a direction to walk with no hint of where they are and by what seems to be a goddamn miracle find themselves regaining consciousness on the front lawn at the park.
holy fucking shit someone give this dude a medal

funniest thing about this show is that it was supposed to be intended for adults (explaining the “you pissed me off” scene) and J.G.Q pitched the show to adult swim but they turned it down. so they pitched it to CN, who would obviously only take it if the show was written around kids.

One of the best parts about regular show is the fact they play classic rock. It is so fitting and I love it
Regular Show was actually intended for Adult Swim, but it got licensed for Cartoon Network last second. They couldn’t afford to scrap the episode’s that were going to air when it released though so they ended up just using what was there, leading to this beautiful ass scene about an acid trip.
Apparently that's a myth. The only reason Regular Show went further than most cartoons was because CN was looking for more rated PG shows
@@Ryan-op7yd no it was intended for adult swim but the creators didn’t care they just wanted it to air.
I like how this is essentially a "family friendly PG clean" acid trip
So to recap, when the guy turns into ashes, is a metaphor that he left. Then the guys partied hard, Benson got the girl's number, went to the Coffee Shop, wanted coffee but were too wasted. Aileen and Margaret called a cab for them, the driver turns around to ask where they were heading, they got freaked out, jumped of of the cab and made it to the front of the house, where they passed out.
Gotta be one of the most iconic moments in the cartoon universe
This sequence would have been right at home in '90s Nickelodeon. Rocko Heifer and Filbert could have been on the same trip and it would have totally fit. This show was phenomenal
