The fact one of them has been a tattoo artist for 17 years and has never done an eyelid tattoo before shows how irresponsible that challenge really was
They get people who want them. Its their decision, not the competitions.
@@Vyable__ they wouldn’t expect the show to have them in a semi-dangerous situation though. A situation where they could lose their eyesight because tattoo artist aren’t usually doing the eyelid.
If your an ink master, you should know how to tattoo all parts of the body people would want tattooed.

@@notyou3314 you also have to realize a lot of what is said is for entertainment and suspense purposes because they want to add drama to the TV show. These people know damn well they can do an eyelid. It is sketchy sure, but it would be sketchy anywhere and it’s better to have people who are competing because they are some of the best rather than some hole in the wall shop or someone who is less experienced overall in tattooing. I promise, it is safer here than almost anywhere else for people who want one done.
I feel like the eyelid challenge is an awful challenge. These artists are clearly uncomfortable, have no experience with the eyelids, all it takes is one mess-up and someone is blinded. It is plain dangerous, and disrespectful to the canvases who should be allowed to get a safe and quality tattoo.
They are allowed to get safe and quality tattoos. For money. Instead they have chosen to get one for free on a rushed competitive game show. This was their choice, it’s what they legitimately signed up for.

I am with Josh on the first challenge.
The eyelid challenge is easily the most irresposible challenge I've seen on this show and had anything gone wrong, no consent would have held up in court because everyone from the producers to the artists to the judges all knew none/most of them hadn't done them and it's on video. No consent is going to protect you from gross neglagence or recklessness 🙃🙃🙃🙃

I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that. They have a winner from the last challenge find out what each canvas wants and the asignes the artist that think would do the worst job the get them eliminated. I get the concept for competition, but damn, that’s F’d for the canvas. Then again, they do know what they are getting themselves into.

One past contestant debunked common misconceptions with this show and the time limit is one of them. They still have a timer but it’s mostly for show and artists will continue after it goes off if they’re not finished

The time limit is not actually there. It's for tv so some of the contestants are still tattooing but those sceanes are edited out
It always pisses me off when artists "convince" their female canvases to get something more "feminine" or the artists get docked points because the judges think the tattoo is too manly for a woman. Mind your damn business, its her body, and you as an artist have a moral responsibility to NOT try to impose your own beauty standards on the women you tattoo.

Most tattoo artists that do crap like this are males, women tattoo artists always seem to do what the clients asks for and try to work with the clients ideas and make them look as good as possible.

As much as I love tattoos, I respect the artists that follow their own mottos of not tattooing faces especially the eyelids. I think it’s very irresponsible on their end for forcing artists to tattoo eyelids in a timed challenge when they’re clearly not comfortable doing it. The canvases can lose their vision if that needle is even the slightest bit too deep. I’m shocked they didn’t receive a lawsuit.

I'll say I think it's pretty stupid to get on his ass for not being able to draw. The other judges even said his technical applications were good. If he can tattoo well, I don't see how being bad at drawing would be a huge detriment and big deal that the last judge made it out to be
@@OrtegaSauce I don't even know where to begin with that. It's always floored me when people think you don't need to know how to draw in order to be a great tattoo artist. It's like saying you don't need to know how to draw to be an illustrator. Tattoo artists are illustrators on skin. The fact that he can't translate what's in his head onto the canvas through his hand is ridiculous in a competition like this.
This is Ink MASTER. Drawing is a fundamental skill. They had every reason to get on his ass for not being able to draw on INK MASTER. He's a very skilled Xerox machine.

This is why I’m so happy with my own artist. He hears my idea, he says “Fuck yeah” and we get cracking with concepts and ideas- even though they aren’t “feminine”. None of my tattoos are “feminine” bar the trad daffodil on my wrist.
And yet it turned out to be awesome.
I’m glad she still seemed happy with it but I’m worried after a week she might regret letting him change her mind because I don’t think it matched her other head tattoos.

I honestly can't understand what "clean work" they saw in Jason's eyelid tattoo. It has small blowouts, shaky lines, and the thickness isn't consistent throughout
I don’t think anyone in the episode, including the hosts, knew how to do eyelid tattoos. If they did they probably wouldn’t have risked those with no experience trying it.

Is it worth getting a novelty tattoo for free in exchange for permanent vision damage? These volunteers are next level naive.
I understand what people are saying abt Joshua being on a tattoo competition show and how tattooing challenging things is the point, but you gotta remember that these are actual people who are probably making an impulsive decision bc they got a chance to be on a tattoo show. The ones without preexisting facial tattoos will most likely regret the decision somewhere down the line, esp because the eyes change drastically over time and also are one of the only places removal isn’t even on the table. Just cuz you’re on a show doesn’t mean you have to completely throw your morals and conscience out the window. Don’t forget that the canvases are actual humans that will go about their lives, not just canvases, and humans love to make regrettable decisions

I get not wanting to tattoo someone’s face for personal reasons but the guy wanting it already had some older face tattoos, either he likes the way a tattooed face has been treating him or he hasn’t learnt from previous mistakes. If you’re personally not comfortable tattooing a face then going on a show about doing challenging tattoo styles, designs, and placements to show your skill and versatility isn’t best for you.
exactly what I was thinking. It's fine to have your own personal opinion about it but at the end of the day, you're in a competition and you have to do what's needed to be done in order to advance in the competition

I don’t know why you’d think I’d go easy on Ryan for doing this and I can’t remember anything about them at the moment as it’s been a while since I watched. Going into a tattoo contest about tattooing crazy things and locations, having a client with old face tattoos come in for a challenge and be perfectly happy to receive another face tattoo, and refusing to do it because you think you know better and effectively sabotaging yourself is stupid. If she did the same thing then she’d be being stupid.

@cr33p3rhd6 they were talking about the way the tattoo looks. It can be applied really well, and Josh can do great technically applied tattoos. However, the man can not draw. Chris hated the illustration. He's great at copying pictures in front of him, but he doesn't know how to draw

As an edgy 16 year old I would have absolutely gotten something about misanthropy tattooed on me. At 34 I'm glad I didn't, because it's cringe to hate everyone and also, most people don't even know what that word means lol.
Right? I also wanted tattoos as a teenager, I would have a typical goth spider web, black widow on my arm, the Love and Rockets symbol, and other stuff as a 53 YO, I’m glad I didn’t do it.

The more I watch this show, the more I'm straying away from getting a tattoo.
It really depends on the style and if the tattoos have color or not. I personally have a lot of tats. most of those tats on the show just arent my style at all. Plus they’re all under pressure when tattooing and its a show so they want drama etc im guessing
I'd love one, but after learning about the actual science behind how your body reacts I'm not so sure. Your immune system basically keeps attacking the tattoo for the rest of your life, and if you have sensitive skin or allergies you could be stuck with a permanent allergic reaction. The inks also contain quite nasty substances such as toxic heavy metals like lead, chromium, mercury and cadmium, or PAHs which are a type of carcinogenic chemical found in crude oil and coal. Tattoo inks are usually not approved by regulatory bodies like the FDA unless they get complaints about them.
I wonder if laser removal is even an option for the eyelid ones, should any of the canvases change their mind. I'm in the process of laser on my back, & I can't imagine that on an eyelid!
from what I know it is a thing, they put a metal sheild in between your lid and eye to protect it

Y’all gotta understand doin a tattoo, we don’t go in hoping to get persuaded out of it we go in hoping the artist will be most comfortable and love doing their job, ART! We go in knowing what we want or we wouldn’t be there
Most artists will not do a hardcore tattoo on someone that has no tattoos or has very few tattoos. It is a normal thing in the industry. And the eyelids? That’s one of the most delicate areas you can tattoo! If done wrong, it could blind you. And you can never remove it. Of course YOU do not want to be rejected, but it’s not about what you think you want, it’s about the artist having morals. If a freshly 18 year old girl comes in and says "I want my boyfriend’s name on my knuckles" you know what most artists will say? HELL. NO.

Yes, they numb your eye and then slide a metal shield like contacts underneath your eyelid, covering your eye. They do that with lasering permanent eyeliner/make up off

People talk about how arrogant he was as if the others weren't. He is better than Tatu baby for sure and didn't understand why the judges were so soft on her besides her looks. They both struggled some with drawing but her more so. They are also both good at realism but he's still better.
I was half expecting Christian's stupid looking tribal tattoos on his face to be a part of the list, but obviously this is canvas only.
They should bring back Joshua if they have another season. I didn’t really care for him but I did think he was a great tattoo artist and I feel it was bs that he got kicked off the last season he was on
They did .. and he was kicked off but not for a tattoo, but because he smoked weed and that was not allowed per the contract that each artist signs when they go on the show.
