I’m just gonna put my two cents in here- I have a bachelor of fine arts with a minor in art history. I’ve created and studied a lot of artworks and the one thing I’ve noticed on this show is how often they comment on correct anatomy, proportions, etc. I am not saying I disagree that these elements are important- usually vital- to most works. Keyword being MOST. I definitely think that if it’s intentional and meshes with the style anatomy and proportions can be fudged with a little bit, as I said, if it’s intentional and makes sense. For instance- for one of the eagles, they mentioned that they felt like for that particular stance or pose the eagle was in, that the wing would never be placed where it is. For me, this did not bother me or even occur to me until they mentioned it, because of the style of the tattoo and that fact that it was a well done, intentionally executed design- now, if it was a photorealistic depiction of an eagle, maybe I would notice. Maybe. That being said, there are beautiful, photorealistic portrait paintings that are worth millions of dollars and have been recognized beyond space and time as the best of the best... and the proportions aren’t exact. I don’t know. Don’t get me wrong, I understand what they are saying and I do agree it’s an important element to factor in and pay attention to. However sometimes I look at the work they are criticizing and it doesn’t make me enjoy it any less or think it wasn’t executed well.
most million dollar artworks with incorrect proportions are usually due to style or done on purpose for a reason. not usually inexperience and lack of ability on the artists part. these guys wanted correct proportions, and failed to do it. not usually a praised area of skill
As a master of fine arts myself, I have to disagree to an extent. The eagle example is *exactly* where I cringed as soon as I saw the tattoo. It was clear it wasn't a style the artist was going for but some form of lack of skill, it's weird the client didn't comment on it but then again it's 1. A reality tv show 2. The client maybe doesn't know much about proportions and how anatomy works. I agree that proportions don't always have to be perfect or rather, realistic to real life, in fact there are many instances even in regular traditional art where body parts are drawn in a very exaggerated way. But again I just don't believe that was the case here, many times you will notice unrealistic tattoo artwork and they won't say it looks unreal or bad unless it actually does. (then again I have only watched clips because I hate how edited, fake and spliced this show is so hey)

Buddha as depicted in the tattoo is fictional. He wasn’t some happy go lucky fat guy. So yes he is real but the modern pop culture Buddha is NOT the real one.
There's no academic consensus that Buddha was definitely a real person. The rules are stupid as hell. If a tat recipient makes a call for a tat on their own body that isn’t “correct” or what ever that should not be held against them; and if it is then the people getting tatted should have more rules and the artist should be able to say yes or no and have more input.
For Arlene situation, I think he meant for the handle and not flip the whole thing. Let’s say she didn’t flip it.. it’s still wrong. She drew the handle wrong.
The artists can say yes and no and have more input. They literally can say they want to do something else and do it.

@@WildVee there's so many serious artitsts that never really learn correct anatomy or take it that seriously, hence it's common. It is what separates good art form amateur.

Its funny when RUclips comment critics say that these guys are not good... But they fail to perceive that they are on the clock, and every second lost, its going to project on the tattoo... Respect to all of them.
They get all the time they need tbh
Tattoos shouldn't be shoved into a time limit that's the thing! When you time someone for anything of course corners will be cut!
Yeah if you look up their portfolios they really are all good at tattooing, even the ones that get eliminated earlier in the season
@@Bbycakesxb not really they have a time limit to draw and tattoo which means they also have to make sure it's designed right.
They’re not on the clock tho lmao they’re actually given plenty of time, multiple past participants have came out and exposed the time as false
I'm expecting to see CeeJay in here lol
With her “cortnthians” 😂☠️⚰️⚱️
Exactly, by far imo was the worst mistake to ever have in a tattoo cuz it’s very obvious when u put it on some1
I can't not read this in Big Smokes voice
I like how they've conveniently edited Oliver out of basically everything 🤔😂🤣
oh yeah, what happened?
Old pictures of him in blackface popped up.
@@MidwestMachete OOP.
@@MidwestMachete what!! He seemed so nice on the show 😔
Nice catch. Yeah, he's supposedly the most talkative in analyzing.
13:20"Super nervous? Great, so am I!"
Things you NEVER wanna hear from a tattoo artist before getting tattooed by them 🤣🤣
I love how he's counting down and yet half the tattoos they show are half done. Why don't they just be straight up about how long the tattoos take and what time restraints they actually have instead of faking it.
cause they sat in a meeting room to finalise the countdown phrase. Time's up. Stop your machines. No more ink! So catchy!! hehehehe
Best shit ever said by cleen: we should’ve used Matt as the reference
Like bruh he did that man dirty 😂
17:50 when you google “fat buddha tattoo” an almost exact same tattoo pops up and the hands are the exact same 😭
wow it’s the exact same 😭😭😭
Youre definitely right. Someone copied someone.
I WOULD NEVER GET A PINUP TATTOO ON INK MASTER!!!!!!
The one with Buddha makes me mad. He is a religious figure and to have called him a “goofy fat dude” is so out of line. He needs to know his place and it was his responsibility to fix the stencil they knew it was backwards.
Apparently also 'god' and 'fictional character ' all at once. Clueless level 100.
That isn’t the real Buddha. Budai or Fat Buddha is a chinese myth. He is the embodiment of fertility and prosperity.
“ He is showing that he’s not an American” had me dying laughing 🤣
really gross how they didn't point out the tattoo mistakes and just laughed "haha that poor canvas" like??? that's permanently going on someone? speak up... losers
and the way they come over and act like total jerks afterwards..
3:41 Did...did this guy bring his own mustache comb? Or did they provide one?
one thing i learned about this show, never let mtv talk you into getting a free tattoo and being on TV.
13:18 The first thing I don’t want to hear if I’m getting a tattoo is my artist to say that he/she nervous. Like I’m walking out!
4:25 love how he cared about his client and the tattoo, and made sure to check on him.
I feel incredibly bad for arlene omg
Poor arlene like damn 😭😂
She flipped the blade right, but didnt flip the handle... Her mistake.
Ikr? I feel bad for her even though she made a permanent mistake. At least the client liked it though.
so bummed that this show is no more
Really? I wonder why tho
@@instapizzabmx4206 idk
Is it because Oliver is not on anymore and he was the best judge?
@@Veronica-bc6pp it’s because the whole world grew a vagina and some basement clown got offended and their mom called the manager
Free Oliver !
CJ: "I'm gonna impress the judge"
Also 6 hours later: "These judges are gonna tear me up"
Idk why they were so hung up on linework having to be black. The brown looks softer and way better for a human, and the colored lines everywhere else looked really nice as opposed to lining everything in black so it looks like a kid's coloring book
Damn apparently this is a KNIFE IN YOUR BACK contest- HolyHell-
Crortnthians is the numero uno😂😂wonder if this girl had redemption
I died at “There’s two big toes in the grass”
17:24 I mean, even though you’re competing with them, you should probably tell them, for the sake of the canvas, since this will be on someone’s skin for the rest of their life.
Calling one of the very few religious leaders who actually existed a "fictional character" had me pause the video to double-facepalm.
Her: “Are you nervous?”
Client: “Super nervous…”
Her: “Oh really? Me too!”
That is _not_ the right thing to say.
I noticed the Corinthians misspelling immediately even when it was only on screen for a second. I have no idea how you'd be looking at that for hours inking it and not notice it
At 17:30 when the team is talking about the Buddha’s hands. You are seeing a problem and not saying anything about it. In a competition you don’t want to help opposition, but in this competition your putting something permanent on someone else. As a good tattoo artist you should always focus on giving customers the best product possible, even if it’s not your customer. If you see a problem, you should say it, not let that problem be permanently put on someone else
they are bad sports for that, and they let it go on her permanently! that sucks
That’s why I’m so happy that my artist keeps all of my portraits super simple! It’s just an outline with light shading. That’s it. I think mine are going to hold up well over time too as the ink expands.
I've gotten a few tattoos from Sebastian, my husband has most of his work done by him.. I gave him creative control over the beginning of my sleeve, I just had back surgery, so its going to be a while before I can have it finished.. but I won't go to anyone else.. he actually fixed a really bad tat on my neck.. hes a great guy..
I hope Arlene gets a chance to try again some time :/ I do think she could win
