Today is my 1st day in Malé, Maldives. This city is often overlooked by tourist who come to visit the Maldives. But I think that Malé is definitely worth exploring. It's the capital of the Maldives and one of the most densely populated city in the world. It's a small island that over 200.000 people call home. That's about half of the population of the Maldives. When traveling to the Maldives, I think you should not skip Malé. But let's explore the city and get first impressions of the Maldives and of Malé. Join me.

In Brazil that's called barbotherapy. It's done on men a lot, and barbers usually do that for free sometimes only to practice. Usually the price is the same as an haircut, so I think it was fairly priced and well done.

What the barber did on your face is called barbotherapy. It's usually the same price of a haircut. Sometimes more expensive depending on the establishment and the products they apply on your face. It's really good for you who travels a lot and is frequently exposed to the sun.
You should do that from time to time to keep your facial skin healthy.

Maldives is such a charming country, the luxurious resorts on their own private islands are beyond any comparisons. I remember you compared Maldives to a tropical island in Malaysia, was it Perhentian.

Hi, I am from Maldives, masroti we just eat with tea, normal we don't mix with ketchup, kids these days mix with it. Malaysian mammak place it's not the same. It's totally different. Most of the short eats are made with tuna and coconut 🥥, it's very nice. I miss the food. I am living in Malaysia. It's nice to see you are enjoying the local food.

The roof of the mosque looks diff. fr the ones found in Malaysia. The skilful barber did a good haircut n shave. The sweet snack n savoury fish snack look delicious. I like the market. We usually eat masroshi with black tea which you had earlier and we dont dip it with anything!
That is why I love your travelling style Ken, travel and sharing the local info with us. Its really interesting to see that most of the island have beautiful beach with crystal clear water, but seems its not the case with the sea water on the fish market area? or I cannot see it clearly on the video?
Hey Keb, I have been to the Maldives a few times and I know many people skip Male but like you I did go around the city and stayed the night before heading to the beach resort the next day. It is worth visiting the city for a day for sure

I like traveling but i got overwhelmed trying to figure out going from berlin to prague then to vienna by train. I ended up driving to Frankfurt and staying there and flying back to the usa. Wish i could just travel. So far been to Ireland, isle of man, Germany, canada, Mexico. Next i want to go to Asia somewhere.

I couldn't imagine a country with no dogs, not for me.
Actually Malé is just 2 square kilometres. The 6 square kilometres is with Hulhumalé.
Enjoying your video so far, and the mosque you just saw is not the biggest or the mian mosque. It is King salman Mosque. Suadi King salman, to be specific, and also all resort islands also have mosque because maldives is 100% muslim country and all inhabited island must have a mosque whether it is a resort or a local island.

May I ask how would you rate the cost of living in Maldives , say, as compared to Malaysia ?
I don't know about the cost of living there, but as a tourist it's definitely more expensive than Malaysia. Hotels are way pricier and so is transportation or food
Plss next time dont skip the mosque azan so many followers want to hear it from different countries
Aside from in the book fair, there appeared to be very few women in the streets/market.
The "local market" is a tourist attraction mostly and not where most people shop.
The fish market and local market are old and a bit dirty so you will not find many women there. Most women go to supermarkets. Older women would expect the husband to do the food shop because traditionally it is part of the "male chores".
