I had an electric stove for many years. There’s a learning curve, but eventually it makes sense. I have to admit I was happy to once again get a gas stove. You have so much more control.
Guy prefers cooking with propane and that's what we had on our last boat, but there are some good reasons for using electric instead. Open flames and the presence of propane tanks and pipelines present fire and explosion risks, plus cooking with propane produces a lot of moisture, which is already hard enough to manage on boats. We do miss the way we could cook with our propane stove on our first boat while at anchor without any need to run the generator. We have to run our generator if we want to cook on this boat, and that sorta ruins the atmosphere while on the hook.
@@CruisingOnward oh I get that. You’re having this nice, relaxed, beachy day and you just want to toss something yummy up and enjoy the evening. But nooooooo.
Sailor sure is a happy girl! She will be a great dog. That’s how Shianne became so amazing - many experiences over many years. It makes for a savvy companion. 🐕
@@CruisingOnward Shianne used to tear up the yard and anything in it when she was young. She hated being alone. Nothing could stop her digging. But by the time we lived at the beach, she didn’t dig holes anymore. ❤️. Experiences will make her wise. She’s having a life like Shianne had.
@@vw7616 I recently replaced the microwave with a microwave/convection oven combo. We never use the propane oven so the convection oven lets us enjoy baked goods.
They are great fun and so functional for us. They fold down too so they don't take up a ton of space, which is good since we don't have a lot of space! 😂
I think we need a set of marriage savers! We’re always yelling across the house to each other. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bit my lip or counted to five… “WHAAAAAT?” Ugh. And nothing about that scenario tells him he should speak louder. 🤦♀️
They really are a great tool and we use them every time we drop or retrieve the anchor, whenever we dock or depart, and when we transit locks. It's nice because one of us can be at the helm and still speak quietly and calmly with the other person no matter where the are on the boat. They really reduce the stress level of every situation.
🤣😂They're great. In stressful situations, you don't want to add not clearly hearing each other into the mix. We can talk calmly to each other which helps a lot.
It's true that speaking without yelling helps a lot. Hearing "Guy, you're gonna hit that dock!" spoken sweetly through the Marriage Saver headsets is much nicer than hearing "GUY, YOU'RE GONNA HIT THAT DOCK!!!!" yelled from the back deck. 😉
🤣Yes, well... Georgia, and the South in general, has a lot of no-see-ums this time of year. For some reason, they love me! Plus, work keeps us inside quite a bit.
An inverter takes our boat's 12-volt battery power and turns it into 120-volt power so we can power some normal household things like our refrigerator, some of our lights, our television, our coffee maker, and that kind of stuff.
The inverter we had (a Xantrex 2000 watt one, for those who are interested) gave up the ghost and is now RIP wherever the broken inverters go. So we now have a brand new one (a Victron 3000 watt) on board. As a side-note, these inverters also serve as chargers for our battery banks that power the house and start the main engine.
Seagulls! 😎🐧

One of the marinas in Georgia gave us that shirt, just for fun. 😎
@@CruisingOnward it’s funny!!!
Boats and RVs share the need for constant maintenance. If I ever feel like I need to find something to do, I just go out to the camper and dive in.
You are so right, there's always something that could use some attention. But - the inverter and stovetop are now checked off the list! 🙂
That's the truth! There's always a list of things that need to be repaired, replaced, recalibrated, remodeled, or restored. 🔧🔩🪛⚙️🧰🔨

A lot of people on boats and RVs put convection ovens to great use. 😎
