      We had a few days with rough conditions but really enjoyed the beauty of the bay. We look forward to returning some day.
      Cheers!

    Hi Vicki…..so glad you made it to the Rendezvous. We spent 5 weeks in the Chesapeake and stopped in 16 different locations, did the C&D, and the Bay and had a calm trip outside up the NJ coast. We are now home after NYC and cruising up the Hudson to the first lock. We are so sorry we haven’t crossed paths again but there is always tomorrow. Love your channel……Maizy even spotted Sailor! Stay safe and Happy Looping🛟. Kent & Anne

      Hi Kent And Anne, It's so good to hear from you! We've been looking for Water Colors on the water, hoping our wakes would cross. We had rough weather in Chesapeake and didn't spend much time there, maybe on the next Loop - 😉 All the best to you both - and Maizy too!

    Great video.
    I live in VIRGINIA BEACH but was born, and raised in NORFOLK VIRGINIA.
    I'm also a HONORABLY DISCHARGED NAVY VETERAN.
    The waterway you referred to is the ELIZABETH RIVER.
    The US NAVAL VESSELS you saw are at SHIPYARDS in the BERKELEY section of NORFOLK, and further away is NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD in PORTSMOUTH.
    NAVAL STATION NORFOLK is a few miles away.
    Nearby were your moored is a little SIGHT SEEING VESSEL who's name slips my memory but you can get guided tours of the ELIZABETH RIVER.
    The BATTLESHIP in your video is BATTLESHIP WISCONSIN, now a floating museum.
    Anyway I enjoyed your video and hope you'll enjoy the 757.

      Thank you so much for watching and for filling in some of the gaps. That's a great city and we were surprised by how much we enjoyed being there.
      And thank you for your service to the nation through the US Navy.
      Onward!

    I absolutely LOVE the armed forces memorial and the bronze letters…. But don’t they maybe create a lawsuit hazard. 😬. Watch your step!! Whooops!

      That was my thought too. It would be easy to trip. However, walking around you become engrossed in the messages, so your eyes tend to be looking out for the next letter. I'm planning to do an extra video on the letters.

    Norfolk looks beautiful!!!
    My kind of place!
    Having lived in San Diego, and stomping around Long Beach, I’m comfortable around those massive ships.
    How are the restaurants?

    • @vw7616
      @vw7616 5 месяцев назад +2

      The restaurants were excellent. We enjoyed everything around the Marina. It was a BUSY place with always something going on. This was one of the areas that had me a bit concerned, but it turned out to be amazing!

      And we cannot say enough good about Waterside Marina. They were super attentive, wonderful to work with, and genuinely helpful when it came to landing during challenging wind conditions.

    I forgot to ask, what type of a class are you taking here?

    • @CruisingOnward
      @CruisingOnward  5 месяцев назад +1

      We don't remember which seminars we showed but the ones we attended all had to do with traveling on America's Great Loop. These rendezvous are filled with great information about the routes, boat maintenance, boatmanship, seamanship, weather and cruising conditions forecasting, medical care, and the like.
      We've enjoyed three rendezvous now and are planning to attend another in the Fall.

    Wait… you went to a christening? What did you see that I can maybe modify for my christening? I can’t do bagpipes for sure, but anything else?

    • @CruisingOnward
      @CruisingOnward  5 месяцев назад

      All Sailor and Guy saw were people playing pipes and drums and a guy marching out to present a fire axe. Oh, and a bunch of the guys wore kilts, so maybe you can find somebody to don a kilt for your christening. 😎

      I highly doubt any would wear a kilt, or bring an ax, but maybe a butter knife, some matches and a summer dress? Lol.
      Maybe I can pull up bagpipes on google! 😎
