Pat...I just came back to watch this video again and wanted to ask...with the square stock and brace rod your intention was to just take it in place and not fill the sides to seal it.....as the seal around the glass will pretty much do the job?

Yes - the frame relies on the 4 sides to give it rigidity. I am pretty sure they took square stock and ran it through a die that formed the "H" that makes up that channel. Since the bottom of the "H" was rotted and the other sides weakened from rust, the frame was pretty wobbly and I was concerned the glass could crack in use or if I tried to flip the windshield open. So I filled the area with square stock and just brazed it in place. You also have to be very careful to leave a smooth "bottom" of the channel because you don't want to crack the glass with a sharp edge. That was one of the other reasons I chose to braze rather than weld. You also have to be careful to leave space on the outside because the weatherstripping is installed in the outside channel. Hope all of that makes sense.
