    I love the cloud feature. When I get home, I just plug my hero 9 in to charge. It turns on, and automatically uploads all my footage to the cloud. When I am ready to edit it, I can pull it down to my PC or phone. It's great.

      Does the videos take up your phone's storage? Like you keep them to upload to cloud and can you delete them after uploading to cloud?

    The replacement plan is awesome. Unfortunately, it only applies to some countries. If GoPro can changes its policy and extend this to more countries, I'm sure it's gonna be a win-win for both parties.

      Not really, so the plan isnt valid in my country but I got the subscription for a USA address and called gopro up. They were confused at first but then quickly agreed to ship it to my country for free + pay for the shipping of my broken camera. Even the replacement camera was free!

      you have to pay $99 dollars to have your camera replaced in the first year when it should be free replacement under the warranty. think about that. thier website tells you its a 99 dollar fee.

      @@HappyHands. No, it is $99+$49 tax=$148 here in California, it is not a scam for a small number of people. But for large public, it is very deceptive...

    6:05 yes, i did this the other day. My brother came for a ski vacation. I will edit a longer video, but after day 1, I was laying in bed exhausted, put the GoPro content on the app and had a killer ski video edit to share win no effort. I am seriously impressed with how the app auto edits.
    I think the subscription accomplishes two important things. 1. It gets you to buy into their ecosystem (why try other manufacturers, when I have so much invested and benefits from GoPro?). 2. The app helps you create solid GoPro edits with little effort. This is a huge value. It will be hard to compete on hardware alone, but the software is another thing. More importantly, what the software accomplishes is putting the footage together in a useable end product. That's the ultimate goal. There are endless GoPro users out there that shot vacations and never did anything with the footage because it was too much of a hassle. This solves that and should not be underestimated as a product.

    I have been thinking about getting a new GoPro since my 3plus but have actually waited because their pricing structure seemed like a scam to me. After purchasing the subscription and hero 10 I have been loving it. Thanks for the video. Well done GoPro!

    I bought the Hero 10 black in November of 2021, with the subscription. Is totally worth it. Recently, I was in a rush, moving gopro from cage to the Hohem, didn't find the battery door, went out filming in the rain anyway. Back screen later went black and did not come back.
    I had forgotten about the replacement option, and a new hero 10 for $99 was great news. Even more so when she offered to drop the fee to zero. I've sent the dead camera back, and looking forward to my second chance to treat the new camera with more care.
    I also just bought a used Nikon D3, for photography only. The Gopro gives amazing images, but only if you give it plenty of light. The D3 is a joy to hold, very heavy, but so user friendly, and will let me use the low light of early, late, and overcast days where the gopro would struggle to give good image quality.
    Just my two cents, if you use the gopro for video, invest in a gimbal, makes a huge difference once you know how to use it.

    GoPro Subscription ($50 annual) may have its worth for a small percentage people. It doesn't provide any essential value at all for majority, i bought in this mainly for this "no question asked camera replacement promise", when i really need this replacement option recently for my gopro10, the fee it charged is US$99+$48 tax! Its new Gopro 11 retail with subscription plus all accessory online sale at $349 total. I had to do quite a bit of work, talking to its rep and providing damaged camera photos, finding a package box and shipping back the camera etc. The way GoPro handled this seemed to be quite deceptive. I am just sharing my own real experience, I think some people might get compensated to speak for GoPro...

    I agree, the subscription plan is a good value. It’s just that a lot of people are confused about pricing and that’s why they think the subscription plan is a scram. I’d get it even if it didn’t lower the price of the camera. Great video, and thanks for sharing.

      yep the camera is $500 the subscription is $50 total $550 - $200 discount leaves $350 to pay

    Under the subscription, you have to pay $99 dollars to have a camera replaced that SHOULD be covered for free replacement under the warranty. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MOMENT.

    I just upgraded from the Hero 4 (yes, I was a little behind) to the Hero 10. I got the subscription & it has paid for itself many times over in the discount for accessories & a 2nd Hero 10.

    I just placed my order for my first GoPro and they updated the plan. Now you don't get any money off the price, but the plan is 50% with an order. It took me a long time to try and figure that out because now the price is close to the Action 3. I can't see myself upgrading soon, but I am happy to have the cloud backup for what should be a huge amount of data about to hit my hard drive. I'm also hopeful the auto upload works even while on vacation with flimsy internet connections.

      @@lyspaere I haven't tested how it works on "free" wifi yet but at home it works well. One issue is the Quik software doesn't work very well on my older phone. I'm still trying to figure out what software I want to use. But I do enjoy having everything up in the cloud where I don't have to think about it or worry about space.

    As a gopro beginner its fine. I got the Hero 9 christmas deal for 349€ in 2019 I think - with a 64GB Card, a second battery AND one year FREE subscription. I bought some accessories for half price (media kit, etc.) and did "not" renew the subscription. My hero 9 is still fine :-)

    I have an old GoPro Hero3 that I’ve had for years and have hardly ever used. I got it out yesterday, updated the firmware, and got it working with the Quik app on my iPhone and my PC. I’m really impressed with the Quik app and of course, it asked me if I want to subscribe. It certainly looks like a good deal to me.

    So bad experience in using the replacement… Started in February this year, gopro couldn’t reach me by phone even though I provided 5 (sic!) phone numbers and finaly I opened a new case which helped.
    The price you need to pay is 99 EUR plus VAT, so 123 EUR for gopro 10.

    The subscription paid off for me! I drove over my first camera and GoPro send me a replacement. Then that one got temporarily lost in mail and they sent me a 2nd replacement camera! They tried to charge me the 50 bucks but the second I pushed back they waived it. Plus the subscription saved me an additional 20% off the Enduro batteries.

    Dude, Ur video got me a free Gopro Hero 9. I watched ur video while looking into using my GoPro cloud subscription to backup my phone photos. I have subscribed to the 5 bucks a month since 2018. I contacted them like you did about my Hero5 which I still use. I asked about the Hero8 and they came back and said they were out. They offered me a Hero9 and as its different batteries and scuba suit they did it for FREE. Sent in my Hero5 with their pre paid tracking and Hero9 will be here in a week!! Thx !! Had no idea this was a thing....I am in Canada by the way.

    You will need to update us on whether or not you receive your GoPro replacement. In August my media mod broke for my nine. Although not a new camera they did say they would replace it. I sent them the broken one and first I received just the wind muff. Then I received a mod for the the 8, then another mod for the 8. I finally asked, in October for just a refund and I would repurchase the 9 mod. It is March and I still do not have the refund……..

    heavy gopro user here, I got the subscription about 2 years ago with my hero7 black. broke that got it replaced with another 7 black. Broke that got it replaced with an 8. recently broke the 8 and got it replaced with a 9. they waived the service fee every time and shipped the new one within a week. cloud is also useful, quik app is useful for things like instagram and tiktok. I cant speak on the accessories because i really only use one that i made myself. 10/10 highly recommend

      I bought my gopro hero7 black from bestbuy 2017z But im having trouble removing the battery so i dont use it that much.

    GoPro cloud storage is no good bandwidth wise. Takes forever to buffer before it starts playing, auto-reverts to the lowest quality when you open the video, and the max quality that you can set manually is 1080. Which would likely stutter to buffer anyways.

    12 days ago I was ice climbing and destroyed my gopro hero 10 (it fell off the cliff for 300 meters). with 99 dollars i got back a new go pro. not bad if you ask me.

    Love the Cloud upload, and I've saved more than the cost of the subscription just in discounts on all the gear I've bought. Plus they replaced a broken Clamp and Gooseneck no questions asked (actually I just broke the Gooseneck, clamp was fine, but they replaced both)

    The replacement does NOT WORK at all countries. So ease in with that info.
    But mostly is ok.
    I have my subscription for some years now and it is ok. I got the new 11 with a huge discount after buying a second 10 under the same subscription.
    So yeah... worth it. A LOT!

    I am a new GoPro 11 user. Had a 4 from 2014. I always used a pc and Nero video for editing. Now I am not sure
    if a can still do that with all the codecs and special lens format and on a card GoPro. GoPro Quik is bugging with new files and you need to use a second software GoPro player and need to buy a 2$ codec decoder for windows.
    If you are an experienced user please comment ! I think you need to pay to use 100% of the GoPro…

    I paid for the subscription and every item on their store 'reduced' was actually about 50% cheaper on Ebay, also they wont replace your gopro's unless they are purchased from their store

      This is what I am wondering too. This is the reason I have been put off as I’ve read others say that if you cancel subscription in first year they charge you the savings you got when purchased, although their website seems to imply differently. Can someone who has actually done this confirm if this is the case or not please?

    Going from a hero 5 to an 8 is a huge upgrade . Going from the 8 to 11 video quality is like a 20 percent improvement . But a 5 to an 8 is like going from the first iphone to the newest one. That's awesome

    I had that subscription once, it was ok. This is the part I didn't like "Up to 50% off" Note the 'up to' being #1- Some accesses are not discounted at all. #2- Their prices are retail. #3- I was charged shipping if I didn't purchase the dollar amount for free shipping.

    I had a subscription with gopro, I had a gopro karma drone with the hero 6 and it literally started flying on its own into the abyss, I never ended up finding it, but I sent gopro the flight log to verify what happened and they sent me a brand new karma drone and hero 6 for free!

      Thank you for your comment. If you have the subscription to GoPro and your Hero 4 is linked to your account I would still contact them. I know of one of my subscribers was able to return a Hero 5 and got a Hero 9 in return. I hope that helps you.

    i have a hero 5 and subscription can i just send it in to replace it even though it works fine? the only issue i can find is the wifi connection never works well enough to transfer anything!

    I do not recommend. I contacted the support to replace the gopro hero 5 black and not only that the 69EUR fee was charged, it was a replacement for the same model, i.e. gopro hero 5 black.

    Warning: you won't get a refund after you pay for the subscription! And if you don't like the service, make sure you cancel it before the renewal date. They won't alert you about the renewal. You can't get a refund after the renewal is processed. Their customer service is bad!!!

    Well this is why I Have the GoPro Subscription, I was using my Max camera to create some cool RC car content well I hit my camera with a 1/6 RC truck and scratched both lenses, I contacted GoPro and asked if I could send it in for service, and explained what I did, the Nice young man explained to me that because I'm a GoPro subscriber they could offer me a replacement for just $100 as if they serviced it the cost would be more then the camera, I jumped on that offer as they paid for me to ship it to them and ship me a new one, a new camera is $399 and I get one for $100 thank you GoPro.

    Hey Danny! Great video.
    I’ve been a GoPro subscriber since it first came out. And I love it! Having the cloud is amazing for trips and you don’t have to bother with many different sd cards. You can just delete the one you filled up after having everything on the cloud and download those original files later on. I
    Bought many accessories and many GoPros with a great price through the years. For shearing with friends it’s amazing cause from the cloud you just select, send a link and let them download original files from your cloud. They can only see or download the ones you allow.
    I’ve replaced 4 cameras only minimal questions were asked but no charge in any of them they even replaced a GoPro MAX with a super scratched lens. It’s amazing that you got a hero 8 for your 5. The 8th is one of the best hero’s they’ve done and the 5 one of the shittiest. So you got a great deal there. It would be amazing to be able to send straight to awards from the cloud. I have everything from 2014 in the cloud now cause you can upload old files. Had great service so far and happy to be a GoPro fan boy just like you haha.
    The only thing I don’t like about the buying a new gopro with a subscription is that they give that price for new users only not for loyal customers. You have to do a new email every time. And yes you do get everything but your cloud is only in one account. So you do have to pay apart your original gopro subscription to keep all of your footage on the cloud. By the way I live in 🇲🇽 mexico and they’ve sent me the cameras no cost to mexico. Love your videos man! 🤙🏽

      You must be a GoPro VVIP customer!? Four new camera replacement with No charge! I just got a replacement for my 10 for another barebone 10 camera, GoPro charged me US$ 99+ $48 total fee here in California USA. Not sure why we got different treatment/benefits..

    The subscription is amazing. Replacement cameras and unlimited UNSPLIT uploads auto-synced to their cloud.i literally have 3hr Oceanside gopro max vids perfectly preserved in their clor without being slit into 8 min slices

    besides the cloud feature and the camera replacement, in 2024 after February 6th when they launched the Premium and Premium+ subscriptions for 49.99 euro, and respectively 109,99 per year, they forgot to give the camera discount after upgrading from Premium to Premium+ subscription, considering the upgrade as a new subscription, for which you have to wait one year upon renewal of that to get your 100 euro camera discount. But wait, now that the subscription costs more than the discount, what is the point of the subscription, especially the Premium+ subscription? That is one way to scare off your customers GoPro. You're doing a great job in not selling your GPS less gopro 12 camera for full price!

    One thing you didn't mention that did you have to keep the gopro subscription from 2006 to 2017 which is almost 11 years total of $50x11=$550.00 and they give you gopro 8!! Which is $279.00 now on their website..how that actually works!!

    I have a 7, 9, & a couple 10s but the one I put in the toughest conditions was my Session 5 & that finally died so I did the chat a couple of days ago for a replacement because it was on the list of replacements. They waived the fee but said the would send me an 8 since they were out of Session 5’s, which I was bummed about because I did love the Session 5. Long story short, no Hero 8 arrived but in it’s place I received a Hero 9 & spare battery. Between that & the great discounts the subscription has paid for itself & I still have another replacement to use this year.

    I did the 1 year subscription when I got the GoPro 10 and like you said, I thought there had to be a catch, none at all!! I used the perks big time and saved hundreds of dollars getting accessories over the past year. Literally probably close to $500 or more SAVED on the discounts because of the subscription perks. 25-35% discounts, free shipping, unlimited upload storage, totally worth it!
    btw, almost every time I add an item to the cart, more discounts are applied after seeing the discounted price already before adding to the cart.

    This service is great if you are an active user, but the economics of whether it's a good value depends. My experience is that the return camera is used. This is fine, but considering the cost of the service for a couple (2) years, plus the exchange cost of 99 dollars when you are out of normal warranty, and then factoring the cost of ownership from the original purchase is not great if you have a camera failure vs damage. Meaning my camera had a technical failure. If I ran my motorcycle over it and crushed it, that's on me and easier to live with. My fault and I have to live with it. Here is my issue; the original upfront cost was about 400.00, and then another 200.00 dollars (2 service cycles = 100.00 plus the 99.00 exchange) for a used/refurbished and outdated camera. It's not what I think is a great deal for a hardware failure. It just didnt last long and was totally bricked after a year and a half of light use. The discounts on the site are fine and can work out well up front, but you can find the accessories anywhere for about the same price or even less in some cases. I have to admit, I like the cloud feature. It's great, and if you store a lot of videos on it, there is a lot of value there. But the exchange service on a camera, I think, is only good when you are wrecking these regularly. Lastly, it's not that easy to do the exchange. The no questions asked policy is B.S. I had a hard time getting a hold of someone to go through the process, plus the time invested with the million questions, and then they said a person would call me back to take my money within 24 hours was about all I could take and completely turned me off of Go Pro. I asked the rep, "OK, 24 hours can mean 5 minutes after this call or when I'm sleeping or having breakfast with the family." This means I paid 100.00 (2 service/insurance cycles) plus another 99.00 exchange fee for a used camera and then to be on their time and not mine. It's not a no questions asked return process, if it was, it would be automated online through the subscription. If it was good value, it wouldn't cost me 600.00 over a year and a half to own and use the camera.

    I've had the subscription service for a few months now and feel like it is marginally worth having. The main reason to have it would be if you regularly purchase GoPro stuff because the price savings are legit and they are significant. The Quik app to me is completely useless. There is no functionality that I find useful at all. I have to have the app open on my phone and paired to my camera. That's a deal breaker because my phone is constantly ringing, receiving texts, and running other apps because of work. If the Quik app could do what it does directly from WiFi on the camera directly then THAT would be a game changer and would be useful. Video editing using Quik is a big no for me. I use professional software for editing my work related videos. Now the cloud storage would be useful if the camera could connect to Wifi directly and upload to Quik without needing my phone. As it is though, NOT useful. Have yet to use it even though I am paying for it.
    The "damage your GoPro and we will replace it for free, no questions asked" seems like it might be useful but I have experience with this service - kind of. First of all they do ask questions, all kinds of questions. And they want photos of the camera and photos of the serial number which I get. Then they will email you a UPS label to print so you can package your camera and send it back. They will not ship the replacement until your broken camera has been received. I was told it would be a pretty fast turn around but they were kind of vague about what pretty fast meant. I started the replacement on one of my GoPro cameras, a Hero 8, at the end of May. It is now about a month since that process was begun and have yet to receive the replacement which will be a Hero 9 upgrade since they are phasing out the older cameras. I called and asked about it last week and they said it would be shipping out Monday which was a little over a week ago and coming from California. No tracking information was available. No way that I can find on the website to track or get updates without calling. No email or text updates on the progress of the replacement process. I have every reason to believe I will eventually get the replacement camera however it is unacceptably long to wait for a replacement camera. I am fortunate in that the Hero 8 that failed was just one of the 4 GoPros I have, 2 Hero 11s, One Sessions and the dead 8 soon to be 9 so in my case that I have been without the use of my failed camera hasn't affected my work but for those of you that do have just one camera, be aware this will NOT be a quick replacement and they do not have expedited service available because I did ask. Not pleased with the subscription service at all but I did like the discounted prices on the Media Mod and Volta I recently purchased from GoPro. Way cheaper than the ones I purchased on Amazon. If you buy GoPro stuff frequently then the discounted prices definitely are worth it. The other stuff, not so much. Maybe also the replacement camera stuff - maybe.

    I like the Quik cloud service gives me some peace of mind in case of SD card corruption. Happened to me once lost all footage. Now i have anxiety over it. So i upload to the cloud as soon as i can before i get home to my computer

    I have been looking at the 10 bundle for 449..
    There is no desktop editing software even if it's minimal? Do they sell such a thing separately?
    Any input is appreciated. I have older gear and the last time I attempted uploading something it was problematic. I want to upgrade but, to something I can build onto. Mainly for recording my jobs.

    I disagree that it’s great value - you were EXTREMELY lucky with their customer service - long story short - I bought a Hero 9 deal that included a 64gb card that I never received. I honestly have been on text and phone chat probably 40 times and still don’t have the card. Their customer service and even their alleged ‘managers’ are based in the Philippines (I’ve twice heard chickens clucking in the background on calls) and are useless and constricted by their overlords in Singapore.
    I cut the Sub off after the first year - and that’s what they DON’T want you to do. When they asked why I (again) explained what I had been through. Even with all the records they have on my troubles, they couldn’t make it right. It’s the worst customer service I’ve had in years.
    Also one other point to note - check out the P&H for their store from Singapore - $29AUD - it negates any saving you have made by the subscription quick smart.

      I get free shipping for purchases over $80 Australian dollars so I always order over $80 plus never had anything go missing like memory card which is a bit unfortunate and unlucky for you and shouldn’t happen! Hope it gets resolved soon!

    It's a cool app but when I went to cancel it, I had already deleted the email I used so I talked to customer service who was some guy in Indonesia you had chickens audibly louder than him during the call. I excused it and laughed with him about. He assured me everything was canceled and then I got charged $50 a couple months later and they have no customer service. I now have to cancel the credit card that I used. Scumbag scam

    Hello Danny Black, I have been a member for a year and I like it, but this year GoPro from the United States decided to change the shipping policy and no longer ship to Puerto Rico, which is part of the United States. I contacted them, but they tell me a very bad excuse, that there are very few postmen in Puerto Rico and it is not true. I'm upset with them and they never told me that it was going to change.

      I think you will still get the discount with the subscription you have on the 9, I just checked and their site is still offering same discount if I want to buy another camera.

    I was gonna buy the Hero 10 in last years Black Friday sales, but when I went to buy it from JB Hifi, they were all sold out... frustrated, I looked at the GoPro website and seen a wicked deal... I thought about it for a day and next day took the plunge and brought it from the website... with subscription.... get this, JB had it for I think $679 (on sale, normally $749)... I got mine with subscription for.... about $500 all up.... that’s a massive saving and only took about 5 working days to receive it. So glad I did, very impressed with that price. BUT... I’m not sure if I have a dodgy camera or if it’s just my laptop can’t handle 5.3k (my laptop is an i7 intel with 16gb ram)... my footage is “jumpy”... meaning the footage jumps between frames... and I’ve never had this issue before... I don’t know if I have a dodgy camera. I should contact GoPro about it and MAYBE I will have to send it back to them...the hassle of that is I put it in the “too hard” basket, and I hardly pick up and use my Hero 10 now. What are your thoughts on what I should do?

    Scam. They sent me a defective replacement camera, After a few months camera started malfunctioning and is now dead. They have been giving me the run around and making it really difficult to contact a gopro rep. After finally giving me the ok they want to charge an "exchange fee". Cheaper and less hassle to buy another another brand or get a used gopro off ebay.

    guys, a situation with my subscription - help please I had taken a timelapse (long one i guess) on the hero 11 black and it simply would not upload on my home wifi. (several attempts made - auto and manual) So i offloaded the SD card into my computer and uploaded it manually into the cloud. It uploaded, but all as individual photos... I now have 1000s of individual photos! All of the other timelapses that got auto uploaded, shows up as one file and even plays back as a timelapse video. This is really frustrating. Is there anyway to make it into one file within the cloud or is there a particular way I should upload so that this does not happen? (I know I could just export it, make a video of it and upload it, but that would mean either deleting the original photos or storing the original photos on the HD)

But I'm a senior citizen, ( basic computer skills like many of my peers) have 2 GoPros 5 Heroes Black and would like to do more than just take videos, take the SD card out of the camera. and download the videos on to my computer. I'd like to find a SIMPLE app to 1-edit my downloaded videos 2-combine parts of different videos into one video, 3-and even go so far as to make a video and put it on U Tube. but after talking to some of my senior contemporaries, we all find it a bit overwhelming. can you recommend some videos that explain the BASICS of all this ?? its not easy getting old !!! thanks

    GoPro is just an awesome brand 🤘 I live in Brazil, one of the places GoPro doesn't offer the exchange of broken cameras. BUT, I've bought a brand new GoPro hero 10 and at my first motorcycle travel with it, a rock hit my helmet and crashed into its major visor, breaking it. I've reach the company and explained it all to them, how unfortunate I was and they sent me a brand new one. Really awesome customer service 🤘

    I had some scratches on my gopro max 360 lenses. gopro was really fast and helpful to get my max fixed. This was my first gopro that needed fixed gopro didn't charge me the 100$ deductible .

    I broke my hero 8 and sent it back for replacement, and theyre sending me a 9 instead now. But in the meantime I pickedf up what I thought to be a used hero 7 black, but when I got it it seems like its actually a hero 2018 instead.
    Do you think I can send the hero 2018 back when I break it?
    Do you think I can still send it back if I put the hero 5 black hacked firmware on it?
