I think he understood where they could go, but I don't think Paddy could have foreseen before 1984 that he would have ended up with such an unlikely producer. One of the great things about both of the Dolby-produced albums is that they haven't aged at all, unlike so many other records typical of the period.

WOW Prefab Sprout were a brilliant band, it Paddy,s lyrics, they are just briliant, poignant, timeless, & fantastic. If it was,nt for the fact that he did not want to tour, the could have been a really huge band. They are just Fantastic.

For sure the best pop album ever written! Who the hell else writes songs like Paddy does on Jordan. Just mind blowing and dig the Thomas Dolby production, everything and the kitchen sink.
Brilliant Pop Mastery. Doesnt get much better than this. I love this album so much and I encourage all to give it a listen. 1990 what a banger of a year for English/UK bands, 1st 2nd 3rd albums. You easily could name 50 seriously good UK bands that were making a name for themselves in those 2 years. This album is an English masterpiece that should be listened to over and over again.

Dolby really understood where the band wanted to be sonically. Such a good single from a landmark album.
