This is exactly the kind of size I want from everyday carry lenses. Not super tiny pancake so they can still fit a good focus ring and controls as well as a real focussing motor that doesn't hunt or stop around constantly. Also 40mm is seriously great and a really underserved focal length - I always find 50 just took tight for my natural framing tendencies, and 35 gets a little distorted when taking some shots. 40 is just my favourite, so one that performs well optically and mechanically, and fits in your pocket is just perfect. Shame I'm not a Sony user though. Oh well, maybe one day..

50mm is interesting ... But it's cheaper sibling is even more interesting. ;)
Ok! Dark 50 should be CHEAP. Dark 40 should be a PANCAKE. End of the story.
really glad sony issued these small fixed lens, will be great with 85mm too. Price is the only concern...let's wait for 2 years so they will drop significantly XDD
Hey Kay, are now a ambassador for Canon redline challenge?
that was EXACTLY what i was thinking
40mm and extension tube! Come to papa!
His accent is epic. Lol
Half decent F number, fine for the size. $600 each, fine. With CA and LoCA, no way for $600. The 55/1.8 or Loxia 50/2 look cheap on comparison.
The 55 1.8 is $400 more expensive and has a lesser build quality, slower AF, no aperture ring, no focus hold button and its bigger and heavier. No thanks.
Expensive? Looking at compact Leica lenses..
don't look at them, they are not in the same league and nothing to do with sony fe mount.
these are overpriced plastic chinese slow focusers. look at samyang rather which are at third price brand new.
i like how he has lok's page at the end...what happened to bokeh bros!?
canon RF 35mm 1.8 can be had around at around $400 while the 50mm 1.8 at $200 and they seem to be the same size as these sony lenses...sure build quality is probably better on these three and an aperture ring is nice but I really dont see how a prime lens that only has f2.8/2.5 justifies a $600 price tag...
My jacket! 😫😫
I wonder if the gear like teeth are designed to be used for filming.
These lenses resemble Sigma's DN series. I wonder if Sigma manufactures these for Sony?
Who won the DJI Mini 2 ???
These or the Zeiss 35mm 2.8?
i got that, i love it. best lens ever for FE. and it says on the metal body 'made in japan'.
Zeiss 100%
