  • Ever wanted to see two Grapevine writers cross a glacier river and make a big ol' fuss about it? Well you're in luck. Day three of the Laugavegur trail sees us face two chilly rivers, a concerning coffee shortage and an awful lot of black sand.
Can't get enough? Read about adventure and check out some amazing photos here: grapevine.is/m...
Thanks once again to Reykjavik Excursions for providing transport and 66 North for providing our stylish jackets and coats.

This is my favorite part so far. Less talking, more walking, amazing scenery. Thanks for taking us along!

Kudos to you both, and to the videographer. A great sense of the specialness of the highlands. Thank you!

Iceland looks amazing. A great experience to be along with you to see its intense beauty. And I did not feel one shiver 🥶 of cold. Not one blistered foot or aching muscle. Thank you wonderful Icelanders. Enjoy your helicopter ride back to Reykjavík.

Glad you're enjoying travelling vicariously through us - we're slightly envious of your blister-free lifestyle! I'm afraid it's a glamorous bus ride back to Reykjavik for us - the helicopter's being repaired : )

Unbuckle the belt around your waist when crossing rivers - if you fall in, you'll at least not drown because you can't get your backpack off. Also use the sticks! They should make it a lot easier :)
    Beautiful scenery, gorgeous imagery!

@@28105wsking Hahaha nooo! Honestly I have no idea what I am talking about but I've read enough about river crossings in the past few weeks to know about this. Honestly I've researched a lot about it because I'm a little bit scared about fording and because... well Covid-19. I can't travel, so I have enough time to research every single detail about the Laugavegur-Trail before I actually can go on it...

This was pretty cool. Wind speeds have been very high in the past week. Please be careful, also looking forward for part 4 of the tour!

More walking, less talking, amazing scenery! Wonderful! The one place you needed trekking poles, crossing the river to keep your balance and not fall in, was the one place you didn't use them! LOL! Funny people! god! I hate that music! It makes me jump everytime it starts and my stomach is so frightened it clenches up like a rock! I want to turn the sound off, but then I'll miss your dulcet tones! LOL!

Just how cold was that water! Hope you had enough extra clothes with you. An accidental dip in that stream would have been nasty. You are very brave,. Wonderful scenery and a great video. Many thanks.

I give Poppy a LOT of credit taking on this adventure with you two guys LOL What is the age difference? I was hoping for day 4 to end better, but you just cut it off. I hope that Poppy can do more trips like this in Iceland. She is such a good sport. I see this was done in 2020, so is Poppy still in Iceland as she was an intern, or has she moved on?

Poppy has moved back to university so she is no longer an intern with us. We're sure that she's still finding adventures though, she's missed at the office!

Really enjoying the videos after reading the blogs. Among the best RG articles ever. Your black sand trek reminded me of trekking in the Canadian Arctic Islands. I noted people were gathered excitedly around something along the trail. It was a single wildflower. We were amazed to see it. lol One question: I liked the music. Stock or credit...?

Hmm I'm watching this very late but I'd like to know how it is that you both are doing this hike, how/where did you meet and why are you doing this? I am liking the adventure tho! ☺

Who else saw the giant snowy maple leaf when they did the first river crossing! (4:25 ish) (But I'm Canadian so probably genetically programmed to seeing maple leaves everywhere, lol).
