Wow! What an interesting place. Love the places that you go and the production quality that goes into it. Definitely inspires me to get out there and do more exploring.
Chris, you are so close to Great Britain, I hope you can go there when you leave Iceland. The plane makes great beach art! Thanks for another cool video!
Memories brought Back! Growing up in the 1950s I recall the skies being full of DC3 Dakotas and their distinctive outline and sound, I lived close by the USAF Burtonwood base in NW England. Thank-you for this!
I am kinda surprised that have just left the plane there, but it makes for a very interesting hike for sure. Thank you for sharing Iceland, it is amazing. Stay Safe.
Another Great Video! There is another video about that plane that interviews some of the Icelanders that were there when it landed. The local farmer said the pilot and crew were fine and had a good time for a month or so waiting for the US Navy to make a decision about rescuing the plane.
@@MobileInstinct You should have seen the lines of people trying to get into the first Costco..It was insane! everyone looking for cheaper everything..
When you factor in the cheap airfare it rounds out to cost the same as traveling other parts of Europe. I went October 8th to the 15th and my roundtrip flight from San Francisco to Reykjavik was $550, United. AirBnB one block from the swan lake with seven people, 3 bedrooms came to $55 each for six nights. The autumn foliage is a great time to experience Iceland, prices are lower, it's not super cold, dusk is at 8 PM and the Northern Lights begin. Shop for food at the Bonus grocery stores for much lower prices. You will need to rent a car to travel the sites. A nine-passenger diesel van was $700 for seven days. We did a half-day bus tour of the Golden Circle, but each destination seemed rushed. We dined out on delicious Icelandic traditional food three nights, but brought our own ground coffee and spaghetti, lived on oatmeal, eggs, spaghetti and meatballs, and cheese/salami on rye bread during the driving. It's a very unique way to experience Europe and worth the $.
Graffiti ends up in such weird places. Do people just carry spray paint everywhere or was someone really on a mission to go all the way out there just to do a silly tag?
always enjoy your posts you go the extra mile to give facts, comparison pics when able..i have 2 questions if i may..1. what brought you all the way here for this>/2. any theories why so much of the plane is gone? was that metal valuable enough to grab?
Thankyou for all these interesting videos and all the effort you put out in producing these one of a kind videos your content is amazing and you deserve so many more subscribers than where you are so hoping that along with me many others share your channel with other social media users,im very thankful i found your channell
What's holding you back? Iceland was on my bucket list since I saw the Coca Cola commercials in the late 80s with the polar bears viewing the Northern Lights and I finally went this October. Start saving and plan your trip for October when prices are much lower and you can experience the countryside with Autumn foliage and maybe even see the Northen Lights as they begin then.
Yes it's a DC-3 hull, but it is the military moded version which is a C-41. C-41 has the larger rear door for cargo and paratroops, also all the interior amenities are removed even the seats.
Was that area restricted, preventing ATV's, or any other vehicle for that matter, from entry? It looked like a bomber place to ride ATV's or other vehicles.
that's so American thing to say. you don't care about this place and would ruin it's beauty by vehicle tracks. I'm glad Iceland is protecting these wonders from lazy people. Go to Las Vegas or some desert in USA, you have plenty of space there.
It's crazy that you're there. There was another youtuber that paramotors was there a couple weeks ago making videos. Would've been funny if you both were there at same time. 👍😎
My son went there 2 years ago and there were Chinese people having a wedding there. He has pictures of them standing on the wings in their wedding finery.
DC3. I rode in one of those. Flew from Grandledge Mich to Corpus Christi TX. Corpus Christi Naval Air Station (CCNAS) / Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD). I'm surprised that no one has cut that up for recycle. Decent money for aluminum.
The first time I saw this plane was in the Icelandic band Sigur Ros' documentary called "Heima," about a decade ago. Sad to see it's become super popular... but it still looks awesome.
Lovin' the vids, Thanks! I look forward to more! :) Interesting the wiring is still there. Here in the States, people steal AC units just for the copper inside. And, as Ken Steele mentioned, that aluminum must have some value.
3:20 Yeah... polish graffiti with profanity in it & the author proclaiming himself to be a king (with spelling error). So great to have your country well represented abroad.
Sad that the Icelanders have ruined this airplane over the past 47 years. Because the plane landed largely intact. Look at now: The wings are gone, the cockpit is gone, the interior is gone, the paint is gone, etc, etc.
I was there in 2017... I find it very disrespectful that people put graffiti on it and climb atop the fuselage . At this rate it'll fall apart for no one to see.
Seeing that plane on the beach is kind of eerie.
Wow! What an interesting place. Love the places that you go and the production quality that goes into it. Definitely inspires me to get out there and do more exploring.
Agreed. Very interesting place.
You have such a great voice Chris. I love listening to your narrations!
Chris, you are so close to Great Britain, I hope you can go there when you leave Iceland. The plane makes great beach art! Thanks for another cool video!
I was in England years ago before I made videos. I'd love to go back!
You could make black sand interesting even without the plane!
loona brought me here.. wow it's amazing
Lmao I was waiting to see if somebody said something. Was hoping he’d find Haseul in there 😂

Thanks for bringing us along 👍👍
Very cool drone shots! Great video 👍
I miss haseul
The black sand and those rocks that "look like - from the moon" are all of volcanic origin. Nice video!
Too cool! Just amazing! Love this explore! Thank you for sharing a part of your day with us!

All your videos are always so interesting. I am excited to see where your next adventure leads you.

Cool stuff dude 👍
How about that... Very interesting, thanks for sharing.
Very scenic country!

We parked here just an hour ago went to lunch and look what happened
That's a gigantic beach!
Wait till you see our beach 🤣
Thanks, Chris. Looking forward to more from Iceland.
Lucky you i’ve always wanted to go to Iceland though i’ve heard it’s very expensive enjoy!
The food is about double which is tough to get used to.

Wow.... looks like another planet
my thoughts exactly! amazing place! plane provides good contrast, but beach is the star here 🥰
It does look like it's straight out of a movie Chris but I wonder what happened to the tail?

Wow incredible Chris, kinda like a creepy movie prop,
Why was it just left there? Beautiful beach.
Hi Chris, you didn't say if anyone was hurt in the crash ?. A cool sight to go see though, thanks for sharing. x
Sue Girling the crew survived

Are those bullet holes in the plane?
Cool stuff ! Love the terrain . The plane looks lonesome. 😉
Haha its has plenty of visitors these days
It looks like It's got enough bullet holes in it you'd think it was shot down at first glance.
Yes it's a DC-3 hull, but it is the military moded version which is a C-41. C-41 has the larger rear door for cargo and paratroops, also all the interior amenities are removed even the seats.

How is it possible that a plain that has been there near the ocean for some 40 years is in this good shape ?
awesome , like the old boat you visited
It's crazy that you're there. There was another youtuber that paramotors was there a couple weeks ago making videos. Would've been funny if you both were there at same time. 👍😎
This makes me think of the Andes crash in 1972 If Only They had landed there instead of in the mountains
Do you know if anyone was killed or even better survived the crash?
What side of Iceland is that on? I went there but I didn’t hear about it. I was mostly on the south side
Yes it's south. Not too far from VIK
Wow if it’s this old ,then why is it not rusty ?
My son went there 2 years ago and there were Chinese people having a wedding there. He has pictures of them standing on the wings in their wedding finery.

thats a beach?
How many people died in this?
Pauline Reeves none. All crew survived
I wonder what it looked like when it crashed. And what happened to the rest of it.
That’s my rock, I dropped it last time I was there.

I am surprised a salvage company hasn't taken it to use for the aluminum.
Are you catching any Northern Lights?
That's gotta be worth some good money in scrap! I'm glad it's still around...
Did the people on the plane make it?
Chris Collesano all crew survived
Please more more!!
Thank you for the awesome video! Why hasn't anyone called the US Navy and McDonnell Douglas to tell them to come pick-up their trash?
This seems to happen a lot with airplanes for some reason
McDonnell Douglas is Boeing now, and for the "why", the answer is cost. There is so much junk sitting in the USA and elsewhere for that reason.
This is a great walk (45 minutes/3.5km each way) - don’t take the 4WD bus now on offer! The walk back is better - with views of the mountains.
why was it left there like that
No clue. I bet they came to pull the engines out.
How can you afford to travel so much ? Don't get me wrong. I appreciate your video's 💯❤. Thanks a bunch
It looks like bullet holes in it also,
Let's go to the beach and look at an airplane.
