- Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment is technically the first in a series of Sword Art Online games. Major emphasis on technically. Combining two games in a way I've never seen before on top of all of the lore of the show and/or light novels, SAO Re: Hollow Fragment is not the easiest game to get into for new comers. Not helped by dated graphics and interesting choices in combat. Does the games high points warrant the deep dive it takes to reach them or should you just skip to one of the newer games? Let's find out! Link Start!

Well, if you are fan of the "Sword Art Online" specially of the chapter about Aincrad as me, you need to buy this game because this is the REAL AINCRAD with 100 floors! In this game we can see the last 25 floors of the old aincrad which we didn't saw in anime. And the most scenes with your favourite characters like Asuna,Silica,Lisbeth,Yui, LEAFA and SINON!
AINCRAD IS WAITING FOR YOU!!!
Are you telling me this or just everyone reading down here in general?
@@seaitofrosti1297 Indeed!
Then im buying it. Gonna be nostalgic
I really like that with SAO games they decided to go with alternative stories instead of repeating same events from the show.
Yeah. It is fun, though kinda depends on story I think. I'm currently playing through SAO Lost Song for an upcoming review and it's fun, but the story doesn't have the same agency that its equivalent which would be the Fairy Dance arc does so it's got its ups and downs.
I actually really enjoy both the story and the dungeon crawling aspects in both Ingrid and the hollow area mostly because I love just tedious monotonous play that is also enjoyable same reason why I enjoy spending hours doing nothing but mining or building in Minecraft I enjoy running through hours upon hours of dungeons and just killing monsters and all sorts of different things of course I get bored of it eventually but I always come back I'll probably hit the max level eventually it's the same thing I do with Minecraft though I leave it after I get bored and then I come back it's tedious but it's also fun because it's tedious
More power to you. Nothing wrong with playing what you enjoy and getting the most out of it.
How does this have so few views
This is a small channel
Really enjoyed the video man. I really enjoyed the SAO show but only found out that there were games about an hour ago lmao. Seeing as you seem to know a lot about the games I just wanted to ask, are they all sub only? I'm dyslexic and I've been misled a few times with games like this so if you have to read all the time then it's not for me but it's hard to tell and people that review don't ever seem to say so I was just wondering if you could let me know so I know whether it's for me. Thanks :)
Thanks a lot! So I've only played this one and Lost Song myself so far, but from what I've seen, yes they are all sub only and there is indeed a lot of reading. Sometimes getting through any dialog segment can take up to 10-15 minutes. Personally, since I think a lot heart of the game is in the story segments, this one probably isn't for you. If you're looking for some SAO action without it, I've got an older review on Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax which lets you play as SAO characters in a cross over fighting game. Maybe look into that?
@@InfiniteComboReviews Ah alright, it's a shame because I really enjoy the concept and story of the anime but thanks for letting me know. I'll head over and have a look at that video now :)
@@Guesstimate Yeah, its a drag, but what can you do? I don't suspect most anime games are going to be dubbed unfortunately.
If ur a true Fan of sao u need this game because the Story is very good etc and i think its the best sao game (i played all sao games 100h+)
100+ hours!?! Wow. That's dedication. Well done.
Well you have too much free time, Lucky
I’ve been playing through all the SAO games recently and honestly I really enjoyed Hollow Fragment. Or at least 75% of it. I enjoyed the combat, The Hollow Area stuff, the cutscenes, characters. My main issue was the floor system. Not to say it was bad. It was just very very boring. Story wise it was fine. I liked the inclusion of Strea. It was just gameplay wise going through those floors was not fun.
I just finished replaying Lost Song for a future review (and I want to get to the other SAO games that I haven't played yet) and I can say that while Hollow Fragment's combat wasn't really for me, I did enjoy the story, characters, and setup of the world in general. I was okay with going through the floors because I could jump between doing that and the Hollow Area, a nice break between the two, but as its own game like it was originally released as, eh, not as much.
As someone who isn't a big SAO fan, although I did find myself enjoying the first season, I think I'll pass on this one. But great review as always, Infinite! Also stay classy Japan 😂😂😂
Oh, Japan is always classy. ;) Thanks man.
Beat infinity moment, I beat hollow fragment on my vita and beat re hollow fragment on my my ps4 and on steam. I like it🤷🏼
I suppose so. What do you think of the later titles?
@@InfiniteComboReviews i love them all, im a huge fan of the franchise and the game series. my personal favorites are hollow fragment and realization. i beat just about every single game to 100% trophy/achievement completion on every platform for which has appeared on. im about to get my 100% achievement on steam for hollow fragment, next is a fresh start on lost song. also if you ever need some info for any of the games, i have logged at least 20k hours on all games combined since 2014. dont be afraid to ask!
@@HottieSlays Oh wow. That is impressive! I have only played through Hollow Fragment and Lost Song (platinumed on PS3) myself, and I do own the games after that but I haven't gotten around to playing them yet. If you haven't played it yet, Kirito, Asuna, and Yuuki are playable characters in Fighting Climax so that might be worth looking into for you.
@@InfiniteComboReviews i know, in lost song my favorites to use were Black Lotus, Lux, and Seven. they are good characters and worth playing 100% literally if i can use anyone but kirito, i will. but i dont mind full customization. i just started hollow fragment on steam 6 days ago and im missing 1 cg so i gotta run through ng+ again to get it so i can finish it 100% on steam
@@HottieSlays I lack that kind of diligence. Good luck to you!
It was good 8 years ago
And the game play is different in the ps vita just a little
That's not too surprising.
i like it and the more i see the newer sao game reviews it seems to me they suck way worse than this. aside from the clunkiness the camera lock and the horrible ui i think the combat is more tactical and well thought
Well I've only played this one and Lost Song myself, and I remember liking that game more. I don't think this game is all that tactical.
@@InfiniteComboReviews you obviously didn't play the re: version
@@bendovahkiin8405 The Re-version of Lost Song? No I played the ps2 version before it launched in the US.
BTW did you know they changed the battle system from how its on the Vita on ps4 was cool down for sword skills and PSP and Vita it was sp based and they did not re balance the game for skills on cool down you can see how shit the port job was done cheaply and fast by the slow down in arc Sofia on ps4 which is worse than on Vita
No I didn't know that. I hadn't heard any mention of it when I was looking up the history of the game. That's interesting, though I didn't notice any slowdown, but I was playing on PC.
I don't keep your feet there's no have to go please help me donkieskraal
Beat art online🤣🎵🎵🎵
Beat saber online ;)
no offense to sword art and the amazing story, but sword art has missed many marks in its series, but this was a high point, amazingly this is a sword art game taking place in sword art online, and since it takes place directly after the end of aincrad so it doesn't have the convoluted timeline of the gamverse.
When you say gamverse, do you mean the SAO game timeline or the SAO timeline in how it takes place across multiple games in universe?
@@InfiniteComboReviews I mean the sao game timeline, since its the game that starts off the sao game series it dosn't have the convoluted story of later games in the series. sorry it took so long to reply I don't check my notifications on youtube often
@@Ikoraiza Np. Yeah, I really need to get into those game. So much to play, so little time.
Duk the English dub
I've only seen the first season dubbed. I didn't think it was bad, but I prefer the sub.
@@InfiniteComboReviews my bad but sao abridged dub is really good idea tink better than funimation dub
@@aoi01152 SAO Abridged is hilarious! I cant wait for the next episode.
Lol. It's soo funny that you say if you don't want to see any spoilers skip to this part of the video, when you literally spoiled it mins before 2:12 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The game's story. I don't spoil the game's story. The game spoils the show's story itself.
@@InfiniteComboReviews Lol. My bad, but it cracked me up. Enjoyed your review though, decided to give the game a try :)
@@RealMangaAddict No prob and thanks. Come back and let me know what you think when you're done with it.
