      I can already tell that it's much better equipped and more practical than my parents' 2 year old Honda Odyssey. That's an overrated van. The armrests on the Honda are uncomfortable and the interior plastics are so crappy that they permanently warp in the heat.

  • @bwofficial1776
    @bwofficial1776 11 месяцев назад +21

    Minivans are some of the most practical vehicles you can buy. I wish they didn't have the uncool stigma because they're roomier and easier to load than SUVs. They're built to carry people and stuff and do that job well. They're the best road-trip cars. We road-tripped 6 people in a 2008 Town & Country and had plenty of room for everything and entertainment. It's nice that there are still a few minivans on the market, though they've all moved upmarket. My family had three generations of Chrysler minivans and even the nicest wasn't as loaded as this. Chrysler should revive Plymouth with a stripper Voyager.
    I'm not usually a fan of blue gauges but that blue glow around the gauges looks cool. It'll probably be annoying at night. Blue is the worst color for night vision. Chrysler should bring back the indiglo gauges. I never understood why Chrysler thought it was a good idea to put unlabeled buttons on the back of the steering wheel. The orange Road Tripper badging is silly.

    • @WS3RD
      @WS3RD 9 месяцев назад

      Couldn't agree more about the stigma. I don't get it. THIS Pacifica rides like a limo. A little too much tech for older people, but they can use what they want. The stowaway flat seats make this vehicle so versatile!

    • @OMGWTFLOLSMH
      @OMGWTFLOLSMH Месяц назад

      @@WS3RD - The stigma's all in your mind. I've been driving vans and minivans since the late 70s. Back then they were boogie vans. I had 2 in the 90s (no kids), I just thought they were great versatile vehicles. I had more than my share of fun in them too. 😜

    We are a family of four and have owned a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan since 2015. It has Stow-n-Go but other than that it's a base model. I mean it when I say it's the most practical and useful vehicle I've owned and I will likely buy another. If you are a parent, get over the "uncool" factor; no-one cares whether you look cool or not. Stow the ego and accept you are just another Mom or Dad now. These vans are proven and trusty workhorses and will pay dividends and years of thankless service to your family. Just get one.

    I am surprised zack didnt mention the unneeded amount of ways to open the sliding doors you can pull the handle on the outside, press a button on the handle, press the botton on the b pillar, pull the handle on the inside, press the button at the driver seat and finally the key fob.

    • @ShootingCars
      @ShootingCars  11 месяцев назад +7

      The more the merrier I say. When transporting ages 0-99 years old, having tons of options is a good thing for necessities like doors in my opinion. Kids are always gonna tug on the handles, elderly don’t have the strength to, millennials are used to door handle buttons.

    My wife and I have traveled many times in a Chrysler Pacifica and we have found it to be close to the perfect travel vehicle. Personally, I absolutely love the 'forward control' type experience in that you see nothing but roadway when you look out through the windshield. It has plenty of power, with excellent acceleration and equally good braking. Its steering is precise and has a good predictable feel to it. We almost always fold the first set of rear seats into the recessed floor pans for large flat area for our dog and coolers and whatever else. The best dog traveling vehicle ever. I've been a gear-head and a car guy my entire life, always preferring to drive performance enhanced, manual transmission cars and trucks, so it was quite a surprise to really appreciate these Chrysler Pacificas.

    This is why minivans have an advantage over SUVs - car-like, spacious and third-row seats. Unfortunately, many automakers have discontinued making minivans leaving only Chrysler, Honda, Toyota and Kia. The Toyota Sienna would be the most reliable minivan

So easy to move stuff around, and with the flat floor you can sleep in it for a short camping trip or an emergency. If I ever win the lottery, this Pacifica AWD is going to be my first purchase. The Porsche dealership will be my second stop.

    300% agree with your statement regarding making your life and your kids' life easy. I grew up with an 04 Mercury Monterey, and still have it. It was right for me and my family when I was growing up, and it's right for me now, as a young adult with no money for a new car, with things to do and a house to fix. I love minivans. The floor is low to load things in, the roof is long so I can strap things to the top, I can put any of the seats back in to carry friends, and I can lock all the stuff up inside so it's not just sitting outdoors overnight. I have even removed the stow-in-floor 3rd row seats and put a piece of plywood over it for a time, using the hole for sub-floor tool storage. It rides so smooth and can still carry 1200 lbs of crap in the back. I have carried 9 bikes inside it before. The windows are huge and low, so visibility is great which makes it a breeze to parallel park even though the sensors are broken. It's not flawless, and fwd v6 minivans are a pain to work on, but that's the price to pay for a vehicle that is so well optimized for carrying different types of things. The powertrain is pushed as far out to the corner and bottom as physically possible. I was surprised that they could offer stow-in-floor 2nd row seating and AWD in the same vehicle! I'd love to see the mechanicals of it.
    I do have a truck (parents also had an SUV along with the van, but I'd never buy one) but I only use it to haul large amounts of things, or disgusting things that would ruin the in side of the minivan. And it, being a gmt400, is a fun project in itself. But I probably drive it about 2000 miles a year, compared to the 10+k miles that I drive the minivan.

    • @damson_jmonay42069
      @damson_jmonay42069 7 месяцев назад

      That being said, I'm surprised the Pacifica doesn't have some sort of turbo 4 cylinder by now! It's not that much heavier than minivans were already in the early 2000s, and technology has gotten so much better. In all honesty, I have not been following chrysler's newer engine lineup at all, so I don't know if they even have something that would work. I'm just thinking about how much easier it would be to service a 4 cylinder crammed in a minivan, which is probably why the other manufacturers tried to keep them until chrysler drove the competition toward v6s, as you've said in other videos.

    I had one as a rental when my Camry got totaled I had a 2022 Hybrid. I loved it got 34mpg usually I put around 7,000 miles on it in the month I had it. Complaints from me are, 1 wireless CarPlay had a lot of bugs and wouldn’t connect always. 2 the radar could be better for the cruise it overreacts a lot and almost caused a accident when someone was going 60 in front of me and I was set at 70 it registered it to late and screamed brake. The cons of the hybrid are you don’t get 2nd row stow and go and you get a cvt and a Chrysler product with a hybrid system lol

  • @mattlimberg5763
    @mattlimberg5763 11 месяцев назад +2

    Based on my experience driving a 200, I would be someone to use the traditional cruise control. The adaptive cruise was not an efficient or smooth cruise control for changing speed. I was also not impressed with how slow it felt with the same 3 6 engine and transmission, it had power when flooring it, but that 9 speed I think is the killer as it kept the revs higher than I like, which just made it feel like it was struggling more than it should be, I didn't see a point of 9 speeds if it won't keep the engine in an efficient range. That fuel economy is pitiful, my 2011 Sienna does better, granted, I have fwd, but the Sienna fwd of that year is rated lower than this van, yet I get 23-25 regularly.

    Use 30 weight oil and get an adapter from Baxter for the oil filter. Should help prevent cams from wearing. The oil they say to use is thin and the oil drains and doesn't keep the cams lubed. Just bought a 2020 and this is a common problem.

    The one I rented had this weird creak to it when I started accelerating. Otherwise the stow-and-go was great and it was a better family car than an suv by far. So it's weird for me to say that a Chrysler mini-van would be an improvement over my Japanese 8-seater suv. But reliability is still a concern.

    Took 3 1-week vacations with different friends in the last couple months, and we rented Pacificas each time. I'm always elected to be the driver and I have to say, this vehicle was an absolute pleasure to drive. Packing up 6 adult people with full beach gear was a breeze (the space between the middle seats is plenty wide and makes getting to the back seats no trouble at all), the inside is just so cavernous I was half-expecting to hear an echo whenever anybody talked. No one was even remotely cramped, even in the back seats. The ride was almost unbelievably smooth and after a total of 3 weeks driving it, I'm seriously considering trading in my trusty old Equinox for one of these. I don't want the payments, but that's how impressed I was with this car.

    I don't like this review at all. He only mentions the pretty side of things. How about the transmission? Engine performance? Shifting? Electric issues? Navigation interface? Etc. I owned two Chrysler minivans before and they were awful, one of them needed 3 transmissions in one year, the other one several electrical problems. I purchased a Honda Odyssey and never looked back. Now I own a Sienna AWD and it runs like a dream. In contrast, a used Pacifica goes for about $20k and the same Toyota goes for $30k. That tells you something???? Good luck to the owners of Chrysler minivans

    Do not appreciate electric vehicles and how much their batteries destroy our environment 😢. Seems like they would go with earth friendly versions, guess not.

    The name is very bad. They should have named it Town and Country or Voyager. Also the MPG is not good. My 07 Lincoln Town Car with a V8 gets a better mileage.
