This is like one of those clown cars where things just keep coming and coming! Hard to believe how much you have in the van. You must be an engineer! This is fantastic. You should draw up plans and instructions and sell. Sure it fits a Pacifica, but most minivans are close to being the same. Or branch out later when you get specific measurements of other mfrs. Of course doesn't sound like you need the extra income, but maybe you could "franchise" by selling it all to others who want to advertise and sell, do their own minivan for the experience, and you might even charge a consulting fee to those folks. Most of us need more income. Anyway you are a genius!
I was curious what he does for cold weather. Heaters use so much electricity. a small fire camp stove may be a fire hazard even if affixed. Maybe human body heat in small quarters with decent insulated sleeping bags does the trick. No mention of using insulation on the van, which would probably make it hotter in there in the summer.
This is the video I needed to see. I always said that this Chrysler Pacifica is the best to camp in. Listen, I rented one of these and did a temporary camper.

People might think it was expensive but one family trip paid for it. Think of motel stays, eating out x3wks for 4 people. Many more trips already prepped.

I love your build. Thanks for all the great information. I’m female and 75+ and I’m building out my 2022 hybrid Pacifica for my husband and me. I found your video after I put in a floor to level it and took out front seats. I left in third row. I’m doing the kitchen area almost exactly like your build. But my microwave is 17.5” wide so I built a pull out shelf (similar to the fridge shelf) on one side of the top shelf. I can pull it out, open the door, put food in and start it when it’s pulled out. I like that it’s fully outside venting while cooking. I can even stand in the middle with the fridge and microwave both out. Usually the microwave and fridge are pushed back. The 3rd row is always up and I built a trifold type bed that is 26”x52” and it’s the same height as the third row so the last 20” of the bed have cushions on top of the those seats. There are two flaps that are 13” x52that attached by piano hinges that flip out to make the bed 52 x52 and the 48 x 20 third row makes it a 72” long bed. A full for most of it. The 13” front of the bed is on a ratchet so it can be flat or at many other angles. The three pieces of the bed are 3/4 birch plywood. Thanks for all the inspiration. If I could do this anyone can. I never used any power tools before and Lowe’s and Home Depot did all the cuts of the plywood. I got an electric sander, a drill, chop saw and new Pacifica for my birthday. I hope to have it all ready to go by mid April.

Man I really wish I had someone with all these skills around me when I was growling up or even now. I would love to learn from him which I kinda am now thru this video…….lol so thank you sir for sharing this vid, one of a kind. You nailed it.
Impressive! Great use of every little space. I myself have been car camping ( the simple way, no fancy setup) for over 30 years. You have a very clever setup here! I just wish they'd make minivans with higher clearance. Happy Car camping!
man you are a total genius!! I dont know how many times I said to myself „damn this is so great“ . Thanks for making this amazing video in all details!!
Thank you very much for sharing. Can you show a more detailed video of how you inserted the cables from your solar panels through the door and to the goal zero battery? Did it cause any concern if it is raining that there is a gap that is created by the cable? Did you have to drill holes so that the cables can through the door and to the battery?
I show it in the video but I bought little cable holders that are self adhesive and stuck those in the door frame then zip tied the cables to that, making sure they were are flat as possible. The door closed fine and was water tight but you could tell it took a bit more pressure than normal for it to latch
Great build Todd! Love the modular aspect and how you can return to just regular ol’ minivan when you come home. I’ve watched more of these videos than I should admit and this might be favorite build in the minivan segment!
Inspiring. Do you know roughly what you would change for how you would accommodate 3 kids (so, drive with 1 of the 3rd row seats up), but still fit your system?
You know, we discussed that after the trip and I really didn’t have any major changes. I want to come up with stronger pantry drawers since the plastic tends to flex, even with the reinforcements I made but that’s it!
I think you and my husband, fondly nicknamed (by me) as Mr. Tetris, would be fun to watch over a campfire discussing your next build project. I think your CAD was a great idea. Also, your total budget is still less than a teardrop AND it's less wear on the vehicle to haul it. Well done and thank you for sharing your project with the world.
SUPER AWESOME BUILD! I’m so impressed! QUESTION: The link to the “10’ drinking water hose” actually brings us to “Camco (40055) RV Brass Inline Water Pressure Regulator”. Might you possibly have the name/link for the water hose? It’s the thing I’m really looking for, otherwise I wouldn’t ask. Want to make sure I get the correct product. Thanks so much for sharing your ingenuity with us. So impressive, the video filming, editing, concise nature of build and presentation....stellar production from start to finish! You are VERY talented!!!
So glad you liked the video. I think this is the right tube, it took some trial and error to get the right one: S SYDIEN 1Pc 16.4ft/5m Length Transparent Silicone Rubber Tubing Water Air Pump Hose Pipe 6mm ID 10mm OD a.co/d/bIeiPmc
Wow! This is pretty darn impressive. Very well done and easy to remove and store when you get home. I'm never going to do anything like this but it's definitely fun to watch. It's weird but I was mainly watching to get inspired by your kitchen setup (not that I didn't admire everything else in the process, lol). You see, I live in NYC in a top floor apartment that gets unbearably hot in the summer and I'm also disabled and have trouble even getting out of bed sometimes. What that means is that I'm essentially trying to come up with a "camp kitchen" and emergency bathroom setup that will fit into my bedroom (right near my bed in the only room with air-conditioning) so I can hide from the heat but also for those days when moving is a real challenge (fibromyalgia can be a real b*tch somedays, nevermind my other medical conditions). Thankfully, I don't have to worry about electricity or running water so it's a bit different but you still gave me plenty of inspiration for things that might work. Thanks! 😁👍
This is the best build so far that I have been able to find. I am looking to go with my grandkids but yet not have to take the middle seats out as we need them to drive…. I’m not understanding. Do you have to sign up in order to get the blueprint for this build or, are you taking orders?
Such a great build, I’m about to put out a video of mine and used (and will credit) some of your structure and design with the aluminium channels and trunk kitchen! Thanks for sharing in such detail!
WOW!!! Amazing design and build! This is the best mini-van camper I have seen. Thank you for sharing your design and all the details of the build! You are an inspiration. 🤩
@@todd.parker Thank YOU for sharing! I just switched from Alpicool to the Iceco JP40 after some research and am headed to The Container Store to see if they have those drawer units. I bet it works much better than the cheap plastic set from Target! 🙃I can use both in my SUV until I find my van in this crazy market.
@@LisaSoulLevelHealing I agree! I also think they're more practical and attainable - especially for those of us out here without big budgets or tool-power to do a large-scale conversion.
Exactly. In reality I can only use this for a weeks a year at most so not having to pay for another vehicle, taxes, insurance, etc. makes a lot of sense. If I was doing this full time, might be a different story.
What a great setup! Did you upgrade your roof rack/crossbars for the RTT? I have a Pacifica and an RTT (ikamper) and am worried the Pacifica crossbars won’t be strong enough.
I'm using stock bars because aftermarket options were non-existent when I looked. They ar rated at ~180lbs dynamic loads and my RTT is around 100lbs so I figure it's fine. When parked, static loads are multiple times the dynamic rating so it can handle 2 adults, no problem
Your setup is amazing!!! Thanks for sharing! I have a question for you.. You placed the fridge up next to your pillow side of the bed, so how is your sleeping experience with compressor working/stopping?
Good question. We like to sleep with white noise so I never noticed the fridge cycling during the night. The headboard helped a bit too. You could sleep the other way around too.
We have a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica which I have outfitted as a camper van. We absolutely love the Pacifica! It’s like having a luxury limousine. Since we use it, sometimes, as a daily driver, it is setup up for quick change back to a passenger van. And since it’s a camper for only two people, it is a very simplistic setup. But, like yours, it has all the creature comforts we require. And since we do not need the rooftop for added sleeping, as you do, I have an Inno cargo top box which actually matches and compliments the body shape of the Pacifica and stores all of our outdoor gear allowing us to always have what we need ready to go, for a vacation or just a day trip. I must say, you did a marvelous job outfitting your Pacifica as a camper van for 4! Very well thought out and solidly built. Thanks for sharing your build.
My husband and I love the video! We are in the same boat - searching for an RV for years but knew it wasn't what we wanted! We have a 2017 Pacifica and LOVE IT! We have the bumper-bumper warranty and have gotten our moneys worth! Thank you for sharing your design. We still have one left in the nest - so now we can handle the whole family. Q: Do you know the additional dry weight of the build?
Yeah, I actually think this is pretty great if you don’t want to spent 100k on a dedicated camper to use it a few weeks a year. I’d bet this build is less than 250 pounds, even with a full water tank. The frame and top/counter is super light, probably 80lbs max.
@@todd.parker Absolutely agree! Q: When you disconnect the rear seat, how does it affect the system? Any warnings or alarms, etc??? I can't imagine that this action would affect the warranty because the seats are designed to disconnect and store outside of the vehicle. I am not modifying the seats. I am just temporarily not using them.
@@pamelafeenstra1257 no issues at all. Mine aren’t motorized so it’s super simple, just a few bolts and the car has no way of knowing. Maybe with the motorized one, it would note it
Awesome build. I'm attempting to build my car into a car camper. Can you give dimensions of your trunk/boot (I'm in the UK)? I have 100 cm width x 76 cm depth (to seat backs) and 50cm height. Though obviously smaller in height my needs are minimal (minus cooler and microwave). I'm interested in the corrugated shelf. It looks like correx, but appears thicker and stronger. Can you give actual product name so I'm able to look it up (doh! you did as in my haste I stopped and started past the info point). I like that it's so lightweight. I love the pinboards from IKEA and have used them in my build too, along with the attachments. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. Have subbed for inspiration. :)
Hi friend- love the build. We have kiddos too so we need something like this. We are going to try to reproduce what you did and wonder if you have measurements to share? We would be happy and grateful to purchase the blueprint ❤🙏
Its possible to make a hollow plywood panel using 3.6mm ply and laminate it in layers. Cut out a few big holes in the internal layers first. You can remove maybe 80% of the material from the inner layers and reduce the weight of the overall panel by perhaps half. Without losing any strength. Just don't try and screw anything onto the hollow areas.
Thanks so much Todd! This is such a great inspiration! We happen to have the same model as yours and I am always looking a minivan mod that fit for a family of four, and I am amazed by how convenient it is to convert from and to a regular minivan. You are such a genius to put all these things together and very functional day or night. Thanks so much for sharing and showing all the nuts and bolts of how to put everything together!
From the visual tour, to the step-by-step installation, to the cost breakdown, this is THE best build I’ve seen! Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge and experience. I’ve been collecting items for my build. I’ll be adding many of your suggestions to my setup. Thank you! 😊👍🏻✌🏻
I'm going to try to make a camper out of my 2003 Honda Odyssey. It is just for myself and my kitty I sure wish you could do it you know how to get every inch of space used and I travel very light. This was amazing! 💜
I would love a link or links to dealers for the rooftop tent and tail tent please. I’ve watched your video twice and think it one of the best thought out comfort wise for small space.
AWESOME Build! Thanks for documenting the build so clearly :) TONS AND TONS of ideas here that any should be able to replicate. If I ever pick up a van, I might have to do something similar, my wife is 100% anti-minivan though LOL
Thanks so much, glad you found it useful. It was a beast but I wanted to show the details if you wanted to build one of these. If you have a family, minivans 'fit your use case' and are pretty amazing for hauling stuff, but I get the uncool factor :)
this is meant as a compliment: Are you an engineer or a pilot? My husband was a pilot. Your backups and head for safety remind me of the way he outfitted our boat!
This is brilliant. I've been brainstorming a build for some time, and I plan to scrap most of my plans in favor of this build. Quick question - I have this same van. How is gas mileage affected by the additional weight and the rooftop tent.

I'm a designer so I think that's pretty much the same thing :)
My thoughts exactly. I was torn between architect and engineer.
Inspiring. Do you know roughly what you would change for how you would accommodate 3 kids (so, drive with 1 of the 3rd row seats up), but still fit your system?
This is such a sweet build and great video showcasing it all. Details are so well done. Having done your trip, what have you modified?
You know, we discussed that after the trip and I really didn’t have any major changes. I want to come up with stronger pantry drawers since the plastic tends to flex, even with the reinforcements I made but that’s it!
@@todd.parker it seems perfect so no surprise.
So glad you liked it.
I think this is the right tube, it took some trial and error to get the right one: S SYDIEN 1Pc 16.4ft/5m Length Transparent Silicone Rubber Tubing Water Air Pump Hose Pipe 6mm ID 10mm OD a.co/d/bIeiPmc
this is so freeking genius please come to London and help me build mine!
Sleeping 4 is very impressive-well done 😊
Such a great build, I’m about to put out a video of mine and used (and will credit) some of your structure and design with the aluminium channels and trunk kitchen! Thanks for sharing in such detail!
Sounds great!
WOW!!! Amazing design and build! This is the best mini-van camper I have seen. Thank you for sharing your design and all the details of the build! You are an inspiration. 🤩
Glad you like it!
It is as if MacGyver watched, "Apollo 13", seventy-five times! I am in awe!
You get the award for most unique compliment. Thanks!
Odyssey middle row unfortuneately doesn't fold down like that.
It looks this very good setup could be cool too on a new 7 places Dacia Jogger.
Awesome, and it beats paying gas prices to drive or pull a camper.
Incredible build! I love how organized everything is. I will definitely be borrowing ideas from your kitchen!
Yay! Thank you!
The minivan builds are so much more functional and doable than the larger van builds. I take more inspiration from them.
Super nice build, amazing really. What a savings from hotels and restaurants, especially with four ppl. 👍👍
We agree!
Wow. So cool. I have a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and thinking about how to do what you just demonstrated. Great video. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Sounds like you have a great setup. We’ve been enjoying the Pacifica so far, super comfortable
this is great!, Well done. We're only two but I can see ourselves using Thule cargo box for clothes
I’m 20 seconds in and just want to thank you for not bursting my eardrums 🎉!
Yep, good idea. The material I used is amazing but it's expensive and hard to work with compared to plywood
Really amazing, well done! Everything is so tidy and organized. It was really very well thought of.
Glad you liked it!
That's unbelievably organized.
Wow! Your build is awesome. I too converted a 2020 Pacifica. I been in it full time for 2 years. Thanks for sharing your great plan.
So nice of you to say. I was debating if I should get into the nuts and bolts with a longer video so it's good to hear seeing the details is helpful!
Awesome build! I’ll definitely be using some of your ideas for my ‘98 Ford Econoline build.
From the visual tour, to the step-by-step installation, to the cost breakdown, this is THE best build I’ve seen! Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge and experience. I’ve been collecting items for my build. I’ll be adding many of your suggestions to my setup. Thank you! 😊👍🏻✌🏻
Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words
I'm going to try to make a camper out of my 2003 Honda Odyssey. It is just for myself and my kitty I sure wish you could do it you know how to get every inch of space used and I travel very light. This was amazing! 💜
Glad it was helpful!
This is THE best!!!
From Korea
Thanks so much!
Have seen tons of Camper Van but this was the ultimate and pocket friendly
Awesome, you are very neat and organized person.
Thank you! 😊
This is the most complete impressive build I have ever seen
So much great information in this video. Thanks so much!
You’re very welcome
A well thought out and built van, although outdoor cooking is ok if the weather is good
Best conversion u are genius
Aw, thanks!
Best I’ve ever seen, bar none. WOW!
I have never seen such utilisation of space in car
Thanks so much, I definitely obsessed over every inch
I would love a link or links to dealers for the rooftop tent and tail tent please. I’ve watched your video twice and think it one of the best thought out comfort wise for small space.
Unfortunately GFC doesn’t sell that tent anymore
Very cool man
How many miles you have on that Pacifica?
I think we’re around 20k miles and have had very good luck so far (knock on wood)
Ingenious!
Thanks so much. It was fun to build.
Maybe I'm just extra sensitive to weight an bulk in my pocket but I really like this super flat and light set of tools even if it's more fiddly.
This build is AWESOME!!
Thanks so much!
this is meant as a compliment: Are you an engineer or a pilot? My husband was a pilot. Your backups and head for safety remind me of the way he outfitted our boat!
I’m a designer so I love optimizing within lots of constraints. Seems similar to your husband
Amazing setup
Thanks!
This is brilliant. I've been brainstorming a build for some time, and I plan to scrap most of my plans in favor of this build. Quick question - I have this same van. How is gas mileage affected by the additional weight and the rooftop tent.
I didn't not much of a difference to be honest. Maybe a few MPG?
I don't like this mini van build at all........
I love it 😃😃😃😃👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👌🏿👌🏿🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Awesome, thanks for watching!
