    That last one is a biggie to master at 3in. much less at 6 in.! I have always used stair railings going up or down, I am not going to go down, much less backwards going up wo holding railing. I do need to practice, as my knees tend to buckle, but not going to do wo holding on. I know my limits at 77. I had 3 months of phys therapy earlier this year, and it helped big time.

    Dr. I confess that I don't have hope to recover my balance anymore, I lost it two years ago when I had a fall and I broke my left ankle, two surgeries, after that other falls came, I use a cane to walk sometimes a walk. I have been exercising myself in the pool, swimming and walking step front, back and sides I am scared to fall, so I walk very slowly and looking down. I am just sharing my experiences here, I don't know anybody who have had more falls than me. Thanks for your work with us.🙏🙏

      Hello! Sorry to hear about your ankle injury. Those really can be difficult to overcome. One thing that specifically, after an ankle fracture, is to be sure you are stretching your ankle. Proper ROM in your ankle can make a huge difference! I have seen lots of clients with this type of injury, and I've seen most of them recover. But again, it takes a lot of work!

      @@Vera59MegaDid you get any PT? If not, ask your PC for some. Guided therapy can make a big difference.
      I frequently make circles with my feet and move them in all directions. I do it when reading or watching videos. It really helps with aches and pains and feet and leg swelling.
      Good luck with your ankles.

    My physiotherapist in Delhi gave me IFT for a week with defective beds which crippled me instead of strengthening my nerves till Dr. Sethi corrected her juniors to treat thrcsiayica nerve which got affected . I chose not to take such treatment and hv with time recovered. Have to strengthen my foot muscle. Dr. My query is the nerves in the foot . The footwear design and size for adult women I realise made it possible to walk. Now these exercises seem to be safe. What do you recommend for my toes . In India concept of massage is very popular but I am too scared so seek your advice. Am 65 years . Being a professional am active till this experience so hv. Yo get back on my legs. Pl. recommend donts and dos . Thanks

    Amazingly, I was able to do all of these except the last. The step stool I have is too high, about 8". Where would I find one like the one you used?

    I was doing these exercises faithfully and doing well when I went for a physiotherapy session, and she pulled my ankle while I lay on my back and tore the ligaments in my shins in front of, and behind my out, side ankle bone what can I do to recover my walking?

    What about walking without a cane. I have only been using a cane for 2 months and I already feel as if I’m dependent upon one. Still I don’t know if I am being reckless if I forego one. I don’t have a serious condition. I guess I’m a big coward….:)

      Ha! Most of us are! Take it one step at a time. These exercises are a good start.

      Do you walk better with a cane? Can you walk further and faster with it? If the answer is yes, continue to use it. If the answer is no, consider using a walker. Either a regular one or a rollator. After using it for a few weeks, ask the same questions. If the answer is yes, then the walker is helping. If the answer is no, then consider weaning yourself off assistive devices.
      I started using a rollator walker about a year ago. I noticed a huge improvement in my balance and length and speed in my walking within a few days. Now, I am able to walk for a mile without resting and at a decent speed. I can walk around my apartment without losing my balance.
      I still have room for lots of improvement, but I am going on a 2-week land and cruise tour of Alaska at the end of July. I wouldn't have considered it a year ago.

      @@jacquelyns9709 Thank you very much for you reply. I’ll take all your points under consideration and probably use assistive devices, one or another till I find the right one. I live in an older neighborhood where the sidewalks are not in good repair and so I often walk in the street way over to the side. With a device I could also hang a bright cloth from it. Takes ingenuity to age!

    Why tapping? What does that do?

    • @neurolasticinstitute424
      @neurolasticinstitute424  26 дней назад +1

      It is a balance challenge becuase you have to keep one foot off the ground and tap it at the same time.
