    Love the warm and washed out colors it gives. Would love to see the results with spring/summer colors.

    I’m actually more excited to see the review of the Reflx Lab flash. You turned me on to the Reflx Lab light meter which I love (and tell anyone and everyone about). Fits so nicely on my M4-2. So curious to see how things go with the RL flash. What makes this different than picking up an old compact flash unit? Can it tilt to bounce etc? What’s the big deal? Thanks again.

      working on it! I haven't used too many older flash units, and this one doesn't tilt, it seems at first like a small affordable simply, easy to use flash for film cameras, not too crazy! it's super cute and small (very nice for traveling or smaller compact cameras) and works without any setup or setting anything(which I like)!

    Leaning into the yellow/brown a bit. Curious about the reversed video too.

    Great results with these, also super weird seeing snow in June! And for me when it comes to signs like that, I remind myself that they're not cops!

      thanks! haha I know, had this one in the queue for awhile :) true! i wonder if anyone has ever been told to leave, perhaps you need a sticker like other places I've been? but also there's a shopping center across the street where people can park so who's really going to police it lol

    Hey, hey, Molly! Just wanted to pop in and make a quick observation.
    In this video, you refer back to your time in the UK. Then, as I watched more, I noticed that your photography seems more relaxed, somehow more natural and emotive than the way you shot while you were in Cardiff.
    I'm not sure if this is just a result of your being 'back home' or maybe you have just grown more as a photographer.
    Either way, as always, I really dig your video, the knowledge you share and the way you share it. (Edited to remove typos.)

      Hey Randy! thanks so much, as always you are quite observant and I enjoy hearing your thoughts! :) I'm shooting less, but more intentional perhaps...maybe it is being back home, working in a job that is far less stressful, surrounded by beautiful nature/landscapes. I do miss the street and city, but definitely am more relaxed :) Hope you are doing well though??

    Very nice. Holga Week is almost over, and I will be shooting my Nikon FM2n. Candido looks muted. I've shot other films like Retro Chrome (slide) from FPP that are also muted. Good review. Cheers.

    Since there are only a few kinds of cine film stocks being coated these days, how to you explain the differences in looks between these various REMJET-removed, repackages films? I’m thinking the differences could be related to how far expired the film stock was, which can cause color and ISO shifts and increased granularity.

    • @Eclectachrome
      @Eclectachrome  4 месяца назад +1

      yeah that's a good question, differences seen in the wild though can also be due to scanning settings since it seems like each lab scans a little differently (in my experience) and then home scanning can be tweaked a lot so its hard to say sometimes!

    Thanks for reviewing that one !!! Definitely not my liking, because of those brownish tones. And so expensive. 😳😳😳 I remember those Candido films being really affordable when they came out new, but now ??? Wow 😯 There are definitely better bangs for the buck around. For example, I got fresh Kodak Gold for less than $8USD in a local store here in Japan recently.

    • @Eclectachrome
      @Eclectachrome  4 месяца назад

      thanks! they were much cheaper but only had the shorter number of frames, but now with 36 frames and also costs rising, the pricetag unfortunately has become very high. That's a great deal for Gold! It's the same here, Gold seems to be the most affordable color film at the moment.

  • @8897johnson

      @@Eclectachrome yes, but I shoot it as I love it, and with Kodak EkTar 100 love the B&W contrast and grain, not much (worlds finest, according to branding); but everything is subjective, to peoples preferred style and looks, and for some of us, we also shoot it as we love the cameras it goes in too 🙂 its an ergonomic choice, or we just like the method of shooting this entails.

    For my own personal aesthetic, the Candido 400 in sunlight is a little too -- hmmm -- mildly washed out? The sharpness and grain are good, but the colors just seem a little too thin and the overall image lacks contrast. That's my view. *BUT* I like the shots of the flowers and candles (with flash) -- the restrained color of the film lent itself to the combination of the static, flash-exposed flowers combined with the swirly/streaky flowers/candlelight of the long exposure. A more contrasty/saturated film would get too overloaded with the colors, I think. -- separate topic -- Is that beach still private/reserved even when covered in snow? Sheesh!!! Yes -- along the popular Maryland and Delaware beaches, when desiring to walk a few miles up/down the beach, you will run into these signs (and sometimes even fences) declaring a portion of beach reserved for a specific hotel, or small vacation neighborhood. Technically those entities do own the land/beach even a few hundred feet out into the ocean -- but get real....

      Well said! :) and in the winter not too many people head there haha plus they don't plow any paths so if you want to walk around, gotta bring snowboots - but i think it's mainly for summer season!

      @@Eclectachrome -- OK -- as an act of civil disobedience -- next time that you are there, and there is snow, tromp across the snow in your snowboots, set up a beach lounge chair near the water's (ice!) edge, then sit back and enjoy a *WARM* drink with a little umbrella sticking out of it! Hah! And if I'm around, I'll join you, and we can play a round of 'beach' volleyball! Double-hah! 😆😆😆

    Cannot say I am a fan of this film stock - it's very washed out - little in the way of vibrancy or saturation, & for the fiscal outlay, unjustifiable; however, I did like your compositions.
    In regard to the 'locals', they do come across as rather parochial. Remember, you need no excuse to (re)visit the UK or Republic Of Ireland - generally, we tend to be a warmer bunch. Straightforward, no-nonsense overview - thank you !
    P.S. Who's the band playing the initial music ?
