@@FlatDerrick They are Fender Excelsior amps. They very unique. I have the seafoam green one and I love it. Found it a a used store for $320. It has the original "Fender Loudspeaker" speaker and it cranks!!

This cover is what eventually led me down the surf rock rabbit hole, and after following y'all for the past four or so years, I finally saw you live last night at the Continental Club in Houston! I was super bummed you'd ended the show without playing Toxic, but you came back with it for the encore! Thank y'all for the great show

Saw these girls as the opening act for Blue Rodeo, they were excellent! Very talented and personable. Thank you for the great time.

JD Smith yup, not the most expensive amps but a little hard to get hold since they’re not in production. I have a Epiphone Valve Junior that I love as a little quirky retro 5 watt, although it definitely doesn’t have the vibe those do!

If you dig this, Shawn Lee, (who did the soundtrack for the videogame Bully) did a dope surf rock/sitar version.
Who thought it'd blend well with Metallica too, but there's a rather interesting mashup of it & Sandman arpund...
Did enjoy this version way too much.
There’s also a cover by Local H that is heavy and works really well, but you’re right-it translates to surf well. That haunting little melody is very surf.

This actually feels like the way the song was meant to be played, when that chorus comes around it hits so hard
I have noticed that regardless of what song they cover, they're able to make it sound like it was originally a surfin' song. I read someone criticize the girls for using too much reverb. I couldn't disagree more! I certainly would never use it like they do, but I am not looking for their sound. It is PERFECT for their style and sounds completely organic coming from their amps.
Almost any song can be made good. They had an eye for this one, and it panned put GREAT.
