Thank you for this mini course. It took longer than 18 minutes from all the notes i took. I definitely have a better understanding. You made it easy to grasp!
Earlier, I thought I have already figured out my product but after watching this video it gave me a clear path and more ideas. Great content!! Must watch for anyone want to build a product from scratch
I really appreciate the free education to us new entrepreneurs! These videos are helping me with my startup as we speak. Kind of salty I started with squarespace, but I’m over all thankful
Hi, Kay. Thanks for your feedback and glad to hear you enjoyed the video. Check out our Shopify Blog post aswell for a 12 step guide on how to start a business: bit.ly/3s3SgBV.
Great video and explanation. Having climbed the rungs of concept to market in the space of last year, I can concur that the info provided is as clear as it gets. Of course, each facet can drill down into further detail, such as what systems to use etc. I also appreciate your mental approach to believing in ones success.
So I have come up with a new product that’s going to help the medical, handicapped and mobility issues. I have a prototype and I’m gonna build on a new one next week and I need to start getting it out and I have to go to RUclips university for a while and then I also have people in the manufacturing industry. This is my first foray into entrepreneurship. I am 58 years old.
Well done! Good pacing on the video, practical tips, and a solid general overview. Michelle, has an excellent video presence, although towards the end I thought it was a new host, the look was a dramatic change. Appreciate this content.
This is well put together, well ahead of the basics, most of these concepts are ahead of me, after some groundwork I'm confident I can come back and learn quite a bit, but for a beginner this seems to be a mix of intermediate to advanced advice, for someone who knows nothing, I'll need to complete some homework to come back and watch this again, thanks for the knowledge!
I ran across your video and i immediately started taking notes, although I didn’t finish because i was so excited reason being I’ve been stuck with this mental block trying to figure out my next step. My question is, do i get a provisional patent before prototyping?
No, that rarely ever happens. I word in Venture Capital, it never happens. Plus, your idea is likely already out there, henceforth why you have competitors.
hi, i would like to know must we have the product knowledge before a product is developed? and what if im not a technical expert, what should i do to understand the sketch that was developed by someone else (eg. upwork)? and what about when it comes to sourcing, how to make sure they will give us the right sample, because the more sample they dont make it right, the more they will charge us on the sample, thanks
Great questions, Liew! At the end of the day, a lot of your questions and concerns about the product development process come down to clear communication. If you work with a freelancer on UpWork to perform your sketches, you will want to be thorough and clearly communicate what you would like to accomplish with the product. The more details you provide the artist, the closer they can bring your idea to life! The same can be said when you bring your design to a manufacturer who's going to create your sample products. Providing detailed sketches and discussing the finer details of how you want your product to look is going to allow the manufacturer to build exactly what you are looking for. - Dirk
Do you think using a design firm a good idea for a startup, I have been shocked by the quotes I received £20-30 k never the less I have still gone ahead with one but not sure if it was the right choice
Hey, Hao! What product are you specifically looking to prototype for your store? Is it not possible for you to create the food items yourself from scratch? If you require funds to help with prototyping, we have some tips on fundraising on our blog here: shopify.link/B37Y.
As your presentation I felt like I am half way there. This was a great motivation for me to keep moving forward. Again thank you so much for the help and reply.
How do you do the crowdfunding or work with third parties without them stealing your idea. Mine is a new product that no one has made yet. Which scares me that it would get stolen and also if no one else has made it is it even necessary and will it sell?
Hi, Svenska! Startup costs really vary depending on the type of product you're developing. This guide can give you an idea of average startup costs, though it isn't specific to product development: bit.ly/42UYSBt. Are you looking for a manufacturer?
I want to design and produce a product. How do I contact the manufacturer for my custom design? What do we tell them so that they mass produce it exactly as needed
Hi, Hitesh! Perhaps you will find our documentation on choosing a supplier helpful in finding the right manufacturer. Check it out here: bit.ly/3LMf5Uu.
I've never been so proud; I live in Montana and when you put "beard straightener" in Google trends I instantly said, "what the hell is that?" I'm happy to see nobody in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana knows what it is either.
Hi, there. When it comes to patents we always suggest seeking legal counsel. We aren't able to provide legal advice so it's best to speak to a professional directly when it comes to this. Your production partners may also be able to point you in the right direction! -Rio
Please can someone help me, i've made hoof oil (product for horses feet) what else do I need to do, I want to sell it to the market, do I need any certificates or any insurance, or can i just start selling it to the public? please someone help, Many Thanks
Since you cant patent a recipe come up with a name and trademark and copyright it. Solicit vets and owners for testimonials. Ask Chat GPT to give you a list of national businesses that specialize horse grooming products. Ask Chat GPT to write you a business plan, a cold calling script, a contract, proposal or even teach you how to shoe a horse. It's pretty amazing. Best of luck!
11:00 Nooooo! The most helpful part to help us in the process was written in cute pink highlighter on a white board, and not on a pdf with the link in description for us to download.
Hi my vidyashree my own business beutiprocdct in facepack powder in7ingrens homemade this natural facepack powder but ihave no idea you can se powder mam in Karnataka from Bengaluru my vidyashree
I already did all this stuff and your just rifling off so many hypotheticals I’m completely lost. “When you approach your manufacturers”? What are you talking about? missed the part when you say how you contacted the manufacturer to begin with. Kinda think that’s a key detail. You talked for 18 minutes about hypotheticals. Professional at beating around the bush. You would have done more if you told us what phone number to call or what website to go to. Which would have been a 5-10 second process. But here you are for 1/4 of an hour just talking about nothing. “If you, when you, you could”. Legit just beating around the bush the entire video…
Amazing how you can disparage a video that pretty much everyone else in the comment section has found valuable. This isn't a college course, it's an overview on RUclips. Maybe you can email her and ask her to write your business plan for you. She may even help fulfill the orders when they are ready to ship. Geesh, some people...

Wow, so much value in such a short video! Thanks for sharing!!
It's our pleasure, glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate your lovely comment, Vanessa. 💚
You have explained with clarity
This is a very clear video! Thank you! I just have one question. How can you protect your idea? Will you necessarily need to patent it?
It depends on what you're creating. Some products aren't able to be protected by a patent. Check the federal government patent office.

Awesome, thank you for clarification of the steps! ACE!
You didnt talk about the marketing part. Nice video
do you guys think y'all can make a video all about prototyping pls
When and which month I would be expected your income from this business
Isn't a crowd funding campaign a bad idea because it gives other businesses a chance to steal your idea??
Business is 80% about execution
That’s the most scariest thing about crowdfunding
No cause you wouldn't crowdfund an idea without a patent or patent pending.
@@MaikForza hey there. What's a patent ? Plz
No, that rarely ever happens. I word in Venture Capital, it never happens. Plus, your idea is likely already out there, henceforth why you have competitors.

Awsome digest 👏🏻 thank you so much 😊 ❤️

Won't someone just steal your idea if you publish it on those sites? Seems a bit risky IMO
Great advise.

What are your thoughts about inventor help companies?
15:35 oh my goodness, first the pink highlighter, then dresses and makeup, now Larabar. She had to call it Lara huh.
Do you know any sites to make a prototype for cosmetics.
