    Check Engine Light - (CEL) came on, had two codes, P0171 an P0174. Indicated the mass air flow sensor. Part from auto store approx 98.00. I opted for the CRC Mass air flow sensor cleaner for $8.00. This takes approx 10-15 min to clean. In my case this solved my problem, and the light has not been back on in 3 weeks since this video was made.
    Hope this helps save you some time and money.

      I am so glad this helped you save money! Many repairs may sound difficult, but it is the lack of knowledge that ultimately costs us money. I am glad you took the time to become informed, and saved money in the process.

    Thank you for the proper terminology of the first sensor, since the cleaning, it did clear the code.

    Hey Robert. I believe you got your sensors mixed up. The 1st one you pointed at is actually the Air Inlet Temp sensor. The MAF sensor is inside the filter bowl. I do agree that this cleaning works great and most people totally ignore it.

    Thanks for posting this. I have a '02 F150 SCrew with the 5.4L. I recently had the check engine light come on. I discovered that the art box wasn't closed right from when the filter got replaced last time. It must have sucked in some dirt. I am headed to get some CRC cleaner now and hopefully that will help!

    Question:
    We’re the check engine lights codes that came up p0171 and p0174? For the bank 1 and 2?
    Let me know
    Those are the codes I’m getting for mass air flow sensor

    What you pointed at as Maf sensor in the flexible part is the iat sensor. The Maf sensor is located in the air box portion. You showed it and cleaned but you named it wrong.

    It's inside the circular plastic box right where he disconnected. Undo the clamp and you can't miss it.

      The air filter is in the big round box on the right. It has a little round spring type catch which is also a part of what I am showing in this video.
      Hope this helps.

    how do you reset the negative thing you mentioned last

    • @broomballusba12
      @broomballusba12  10 лет назад

      Anytime you work on the engine always disconnect the negative battery cable.
      If you have any cel lights (check engine lights) this will usually clear them. Sometimes it may take 3-4 driving cycles to clear them.
      Hope this helps.

    • @ShillLoveMovement
      @ShillLoveMovement 10 лет назад

      Ooo wow is it too late to do that .. how long to I disconnect for

    • @broomballusba12
      @broomballusba12  10 лет назад

      Typically the battery should reset all codes after 15 min if you disconnect the negative terminal. This does not always work, but if you solve the cel problem, after 3 driving cycles (approx 100 miles or so) it should also reset.

      The CEL is the emissions systems. In my case it was running lean on Bank 1 and on Bank 2.
      This does require some diligence......start cheap, look for holes in the vacuum lines, then move on to the spark plugs and coil on pack (COP).
      Mine needed a few plugs and 2 vacuum hoses.
      Hope this helps.

    Hey, Rob i did exactly as you did i started up the motor and still had the check Engine light on????? any suggestions??? please help??

    • @broomballusba12
      @broomballusba12  9 лет назад

      You will want to check out my other videos especially on the expedition cel videos.
      The cel (check engine light) is due to the emissions failure. Sometimes it is a hose, a sensor, manifold blockage due to carbon buildup. Etc.
      Start with the simple stuff. Many times this occurs when the car needs new boots and spark plugs.

      Sometimes works just spraying it but sometimes just a cleaning isn't enough so you need to actually replace it
