I'm the dude who actually did it, Gazbar is a colleague of mine. I have to say it was one of the scariest things Ive ever done. Relying on a rope ladder to reach a cutoff section of ladder about 15foot up. The actual ascent from then on was quite simple - there are metal decks every 20 foot or so with steel ladders moving around circumferencially as you climb, in other words its not a straight section of ladder all the way to the top. You reach a small hatch at the top leading to the outside

I was there, strange feeling seeing it come down. I got the impression people in Hartlepool will miss it as a landmark.

that tower got blown up today none of that is there now x
