    Just gorgeous! Love the idea of keeping different color pallets separate during harvest, that will help me save a lot of time!
    Can you tell us more about your routine for dahlia's, is it a holding solution? I'm always looking for more tips and tricks to help with their vase life. I've heard getting them from harvest into a cooler for 24 hrs helps a lot but my dahlias are not yet blooming to experiment with that.

      Being a farmer florist is ALL about efficiency, so I’m glad this helped you! I would love to do a video on dahlia harvesting and conditioning. For dahlias, it’s important to do a hydrating treatment at harvest. I use a hydrating solution. Have you heard of the boiling water method? Same purpose :)

      @@floristsonfarms I like the purple but also peach/pink. I put together whatever is in bloom in late summer. Hoping the ones I didn't dig up will be okay. Trying both ways this winter and leaving two big ones in the ground, mulched and covered.

      Leaving them in can be such a great way to store them if your conditions are right! If I had the right soil, I would definitely do it that way! I’m warm enough here (8b); but my soil tends to be too wet!

      The berry color.@@floristsonfarms Going forward I will try harvesting with a color scheme in mine. Right now my recipes are set for certain #focals, line, airy, foliage, and accent. But I just go see what’s blooming and harvest all focals, then all line, then accent etc. Not sure I can wait for summer to try this technique.

    • @floristsonfarms
      @floristsonfarms  7 месяцев назад

      Ooh yes, I think to a certain degree, colour is going to be more important than having every category of flower type in there. I tend to cut to a finite amount rather than cut everything and try to sort it out later; but that requires having some extra flowers that I don’t need to harvest to reach my quota. Hope it helps and let me know how it goes with trying it this way!

      Hi! I do wrap florist-style using paper rolls on a cutter so I can customize the size. Sleeves are faster! In this one it’s a white paper roll, I also use brown paper. I prefer a coated or waxed paper; however regular uncoated paper (eg. Kraft paper) is more compostable :)
