Three-Ingredient Bouquets For Busy Farmer Florists!

  • Three-ingredient bouquets have been a popular discussion topic lately and for good reason. Using fewer different ingredients (and more of them) can make bouquet making (and farming!) much simpler and easier. While a new idea to some, its quite common at markets and garden centers in some places in the world. I thought I'd use this bouquet style learned in the Netherlands some years ago and apply it to my own gardens to see what I could come up with! Hope this bouquet making idea provides some fresh inspiration (and permission) to make market bouquet assembly more straightforward!

    That's interesting. When I was in Amsterdam last year, the type of bouquets I saw everywhere was completely different: tall, very airy, not symmetrical, lots of lines, many varieties of flowers but only 1-2-3 stems each.

      Oh yes, that is a very signature design style for the Netherlands - the “Plulboeket”! Love that!

    Never knew you could use laurel as foliage,does it last long in a vase please? 🌸

      Lasts forever as long as it’s matured (not that thin first spring growth)!

    I am not familiar with your greenery. What is the spelling for the first greens - salow? Would you happen to know the variety of laurel? Thanks

    • @floristsonfarms
      @floristsonfarms  10 месяцев назад

      Hi, sorry, “Salal” is the trade name for Gaultharia shalon, a very common foliage in the industry. I don’t know which variety of laurel it is; but if you are seeking some out to add to your cutting beds, I would recommend finding one with a smaller leaf. I make use of mine (it came with the farm); but the leaves are a bit too large, really, I’d like them to be half the size :)

    • @floristsonfarms
      @floristsonfarms  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! We all will have different markups; but using the standard florist industry markup formula, the first bouquet would be around $100-$120 CAD

      Thank you so much! You know, I don't know what variety it is because I glean off a hedge that came with our property and its probably 30+ years old; BUT if I were choosing a laurel to use for design, I would actually choose one with a smaller leaf than this one. The size of the leaf on the one I have here is actually a bit tricky for design. I hope that helps :)
