I take my zephyr sfs with me on all my trips, use it with a BnM TCB rod with varivas 2lb ajing master for crappie and other panfish. It’s a great reel!!
I am always going to choose BC over spinning. But as I learn more about BFS, I also did some research on shallow spool spinning setups. I can't write off a fishing style unless I truly spent time testing something. So with that said, I don't mind spending a bit on affordable setups to see if it's worth my time for even more expensive ones in the future.
I used to fish bigger bodies of water. As I gotten older.... Less energy and more responsibilities.. So I can't go as much anymore as they are further away from home. So I focus on various type of waters closer to home ;) tidal swamp video next!
Always learn something new. Have you come across any other sfs type reels? I find a lot of super low drag, small spool options but I don't know if they are in that category
Hey, since watching your other video on this I stumbled across some Japanese trout stream channels and they are doing these.little accurate BFS casts with spinning gear. Very cool.
It's certainly possible, but still not efficient as a bait casting reel not as light. But if people enjoy using it for their fishing, then it's all good! We are out there to enjoy right?
Got a Spartacus 2 reel I love and lookin at kastking reel to put on my new st croix avid panfish 7ft light rod which would ya recommend? Usually use 4lb fireline not sure if I should grab the zephyr 1000 carbon it's Grey and gold or the bfs orange black reel?
Don't think that is how it works. If your rod is spinning, u gotta stick with spinning reels. Vice versa... If it is a casting rod, u can then put a bfs or a finesse casting reel on
@@rawrfishing now I know where confusion is there is an upgraded zephyr sfs reel if ya go on amazon one in your video here was released in 2021 it has 94 reviews the upgraded version was release June 7 2022 amd has 16 reviews its the upgraded one that guy says has messed up reverse
@@rawrfishing do you see the new upgraded version of this reel or no? It's a spinning reel same as ya got here in video bit upgraded version only difference I can tell is the old spool is like .57 inches in length and new one is .49 so Lil shorter

I have my set-up a Phenix mirage 1/32 - 1/8oz and a okuma stratus 10 spinning reel. And i cast 1/64 to 1/16oz and it's the best fun I've ever had fishing. Check ur messages on Instagram. I'll show you.
The 3lb has been shit for me, i always have random breaks in it. Not sure if i just kept getting defective ones. My current setup now on all my ul combos are elixir+vanford (5lb phenix braid) mirage+23 vanquish (varivas infinity) iron feather+stella fk (varivas infinity). Ive been loving the infinity line at 5lbs.
Neither because Kestrel BFS is over priced and over braked and I can't recommend the carbon X as I have no experience nor knowledge. If you want a bfs reel with better quality and performance, Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra would be perfect.
@@davidsagastume3700 gotcha. I always had a hunch that loud casting line may interfere with casting as sound is created by vibration/friction etc. would be cool if someone in this area of expertise can tell us. But any how, thanks for the love mate :)

Nice. Got it for the same reason and for guests lol

That braid is pretty noisy. Give Phenix trout line a chance it’s super smooth.

U may have to check their website. I am not sure as I don't fish salt water
Zephyr rod or dobyns?
If it's spinning... Dobyns have more options and variety I believe and quality is better. But the price is higher

4ft 6 in version here and it says fast on the rod. Are u looking at the old ones or the new green Christmas color one?
