You should have a Lowko Award for actual Game of the Year a GOTY award where we vote on the top 10 videos in the GOTY playlist. That’d be fun. A Lowko GOTY Award!
I’ve heard a game mechanic proposed that would change Terran gameplay. Floating structures can only float for so long before their engines overheat. Then they would start taking damage. This would end the base trade advantage they have.
While i agree that it would end the possibility of terran forcing draws, and thus, a good idea, saying that terran have an advantage on base trades or races is simply false. Most important ability in those scenarios is mobility, and both zerg and protoss have more. By a long shot. Also, terran have the most expensive infrastructure while and the worst defenses. Their only saving grace is the chance of protecting their buildings that way.
@@jonsolo32 Keep in mind that i'm not saying that terran is underpowered with this, just that this is part of their balance. Their turrets don't shoot down like protoss photons nor can reposition like the zerg's. Bunkers need manning to actually do something, so either you left marines behind that you will need in other places; or simply use the detection tower which do a little more for terran lack of mobility. Planetary fortresses take a long time to make, are expensive and until the baneling nerf they did little to stop those. They are still not viable 'til mid game, since terran need mules in early to keep up. They still need an army to defend any slightly serious attempt to destroy it, and then terran slowness comes into play. I don't count units like siege tanks as "defenses". By that reasoning similar units should be counted.
@@polca4loveterran turrets may not be able to shoot down but they have 39 dps compared to 24 spore and 22 cannon which is kinda insane Pfs are insanely strong and idk why you mentioned baneling nerf(to explode pf it takes 1k 500 vs 550 150). Terran bio is super fast too Bunkers are thousand times stronger your giving credit for and sensor towers are amazing Even without them their units are insane at defensive positions and have stuff like range and building armor. Terran only weakness in base trades is the fact zerg is higher dps and toss has recall.
I imagine protoss BM would be mass recall probes to the enemy main base. You can even start a late game cannon "rush" if you are feeling particularly evil that day.
That last game was so beautifully played by Dark. You could just tell that Maru just wasn't able to keep up with alll the agression any more at some point. A wall off would have certainly helped to be fair, though then again, fully upgraded lings really enjoy munching on depots and the like as you could see from this.
My head canon for why Terran structures can’t produce while flying is that while in game they seem to move very smoothly, in reality those big rocket engine cause a lot of shaking and such, meaning that everything inside has to locked down and most activities are not able to performed safely.
If you really want to know which maps are better for which race than rather than looking at overall ein percentages you should look at just the top guys: Serral, Clem and Hero/Maxpax and look at their win rates for each matchup in each map. This will tell you which map truly is the best for which race in each matchup.
I would actually love to see a tournament that undoes every nerf ever done in SC2 so all units for all races are at their most overpowered form. I wonder how today's pros, with their immensely higher skill level than back in the day, would play in such setting.
As a lover of Terran mech, I enjoyed that Equilibrium game. Banshee Cyclone is my current favorite Terran comp. Maybe some Vikings as well. Landed Vikings remind me of Goliaths and I love those bois.
Between the cost efficiency of Terran and the mules mining roughly 220 minerals over their life-span, the mules make up for about a 10 worker deficit on 3-base. It takes 3 mules to justify building an orbital. If the Terran has a greater than 10 worker deficit on equal tech, they're usually behind. At a 15 worker deficit they're in trouble. The math changes as the game progresses. At 7-8 orbitals the Terran can be, and usually is, down 20 workers due to how easy it is to run by a Terran late-game. At 12 or so orbitals in the super late-game, the Terran is usually unbeatable. They can mine out the last base or two at such speed that the zerg doesn't have time to do meaningful damage. This rarely happens, however, due to Terran's low mobility in the late-game versus Zerg's speed on creep. Anything beyond 5 bases is nearly impossible for the Terran to hold.
I could not imagine watching another caster than Lowko. U the only one where I feel my personal sympathy matched with. I such like to hear u talk to the Games
The Terran mid-air production mechanic exists in coop actually with the commander Han and Horner. They make reapers out of a flying attack barracks (called a galleon)
Dark is like the 'Dr House' of starcraft, his methods are questionable, but god DAMN does he get results! That last game was absolute pandemonium, and Dark thrives in that kind of chaos, so muhc fun to watch him play! Thanks Lowko!
You know when cyclones are before marines, they will target the banelings first. So the mix should be hell bats in the front, marine in the middle and cyclones at last.
The infestor also used to be able to cast fungal growth while burrowed. But it may actually be cool to see current pro-gamers playing WoL on the WoL maps. Just to see how much has changed in tactics
As a casual viewer I can say that I don't care how many maps are in the map pool. As long as the caster points out the highlights of the maps (like you did on game #2 about the likelihood of zerg expanding to gold early) then a new map every game would be fine with me.
For us relatively experienced SC2 watchers, we can tell how much of a banger a match will be simply based on who is playing. :P Edit: Mirror matches are good too, imo. My favs are ZvZ and TvT. Some good PvP matches would be like Maxpax vs Showtime or Parting, or even Astrea recently has looked nutty. Any of those 4 toss players in a mirror would be sick.
i never thought in my life i'd see a pro player snipe zerglings banelings? sure, but zerglings? the meta has truly advanced and so is the speed of pro players
I wonder if a hive baneling upgrade would keep things reasonable while letting zerg not feel so restrained in the late game. Maybe a +2/3 dmg to light units and structures?? Honestly i enjoy watching sc2 and have done so for probably 5 yrs but i never played competitively its just too overwhelming for me so i don't have a good perspective other than how i see pros play to speak on how they feel lacking. That being said theres definitely something necessary to bump them at least in the later stages i feel
Can't blame Winter for wanting viewers on his channel, I don't see it as clickbait, and His titles are normally really good. Every caster does multiple game of the year titles.
Maybe you should make a candidates of Game of the Month and, on december, we vote for the Game of the Year. You can analize with a groups of experts LIVE at LowkoTV twitch channel, get a pick from some pro players to add and we finally can decide wich is "Viewers Choise Game of the Year of SCII"
yeah, 11 maps is too much, imo. I wonder that if in a few years, there will be Bo9 series in the finals of IEM Katowice.....although, it might make it too long, idk, just thinking out loud... 1:21:22 Plus three barley gets shut down!
I am no pro, but the more I watch, the more I feel that there has to be an easier way of dealing with medivacs and marines instead of units that dont shoot up. maybe 5-6 mutas or corruptors in the mix so the medivacs dont boost off with all the units. IDK
Well those matchup's suck most of the time. PvP: Throw the dice! PvT: Throw the dice! TvT: Slow Game of chess. TvZ: Most dynamic and action packed matchup.
The reason beracks cannot produce while flying is because the marines would drop to their doom while it’s flying. lol it be funny. You produce 10 marines and find a pile of corpses under it because you forgot to land it.
1:03 "I heard from Winter that this is his favourite series that he has seeing in a long time". Checks the end of the game: zerg won. Whatever winter likes oughta be bad for terran.

Great idea!
Top 10 GAMES, or top 10 SERIES?
I'd like to see the top 10 games in general, doesn't have to showcase the series if it was in one
@@rearnakedguy1501 I had not considered that! That makes it even harder.
It needs some stupidly long comical title to it to differentiate it from the other 52 game of the years, series of the year would be good too
1:06:00 this last game is beautiful the way he overwhelms his opponent in 10 different ways - pure psychological destruction
Around 2-5 “game of the year”s would be ideal.
what is lowkos GOTYPM
The last 5 minutes of that last game were bananas.
That infestor ambush really took the wind out of Maru's sails. Feels like he mentally gave up when that happened.
That or it gave Dark the confidence to go Full Dark Mode.
That was really tough luck, too. His scan barely missed the two infestors.

Herding dogs come as headers and heelers. One drives livestock and one directs them. Reapers are both.
Been waiting for new upload all day lowko! 🤙🤙
He went to Reaper Heaven. It's unusual because that unit belongs in Hell.
The Terran mid-air production mechanic exists in coop actually with the commander Han and Horner. They make reapers out of a flying attack barracks (called a galleon)
They build half their army out of the Galleons, which on top of the Reapers are Hellions, Hellbats and Widow Mines.
It also exists as the Warp Prism. Nothing like being able to dump your base's production on the enemy's door for 250 minerals.

for map pool my take is it should be finals matches +4 maps, 2 for banning, and 2 to make sure there's a bit of spice even toward the end
1:12:59 I had a much Dark-er thought about that. Of which I'm unsure if Lowko took into account or not.
i like the little Self Burn at the start Lowko :P

That was an insane sell by Maru
Call it "game of the year candidate" ! :)
Baracks producing Teran Paratroopers ... Teratroopers ... That could be a mod Idea for the Wings of Liberty campaign.
In a protoss game with BM where you have map control, make every pylon on the opponent's 5th base spelling out GG
