Clem tried the same cheese Byun did vs Solar in Masters Colloseum. Solar sacked the natural, went for an instant roch warren/lair into nydus, then showed up in Clems main base with 6-7 roaches and 4 queens at the 5 minute mark. Clem had a building CC, factory and some helions in his main, and 12~ marines camping in bunkers outside of Solars natural :D
DSP music is okay-ish, but I think Endless Space 2 and Endless Legend have I think one of the best audio design besides Heroes series, Civilisation series and Blizzard games. Diablo music is just epic.
Something really random about the music - my Google Pixel automatically Shazam's songs when it hears music playing. Normally its dead accurate. But the StarCraft music? It's mistaken it for Hans Zimmer, early 2000s movie soundtracks, and a Portuguese rap song. So when the robots take over, play the StarCraft soundtrack, it'll break them.
Lowko, I have to say, I've listened to Game Music more than any other type of music. And yes, you're right that music is much more important than graphics. Because if you use music that eventually gets annoying or isn't epic as it needs to be; it just doesn't hit strongly enough. And often, you'll not want to play because of it. xD Love listening to you btw. Keep up the good work.
The worst game music I've ever experienced was Marvel vs Capcom 2. "Imma take you for a ride" on repeat, that was the only song they had. It's been over 13 years and I still hear it in my head.
On the topic of music design, blizzard has a good handle on providing variety in their games. They’ll have a single track and make a few variations of that track so that it doesn’t become overly redundant. Take a look at the sound design for WoW, they’ve done it throughout the game’s entire history, and it’s little different for their RTS titles
21:00 Indeed, audio design in general is massively underrated but never under appreciated. Great music and sound design really needs better explicit recognition, though I'd say games that do this well tend to do better in the long run, and are perceived more favourably overall.
Actually if you put 2 creep tumors close together the creep spreads a little bit faster. Not much but a little bit goes a long way and it starts to add up so it's actually not as bad as you might think.
