    You definitely do not need a 10 foot surf rod for that type of fishing. I use a 6”6 tsunami trophy slow pitch with a jig and catch huge black fish in maybe 4 feet of water off a jetty.

    I guess my jettie set up is unconventional. I use a 6'2" lews and a penn with 15lb braid, tog jigs from 3/4 ounce to 2ounces and I cast rather close and build a bite. Less fun with the bigger rods but better control. Gonna give your type of set up a try. Tight lines!

      Hey we appreciate the feedback! I don't think there is necessarily a right or wrong way when it comes to fishing, its what works best for you and what do you feel most comfortable with. Thanks for watching and commenting. Best of luck on the water!

    I caught 16 there yesterday, no keepers. Used sand fleas and finally ran out of bait. Thanks for the info!

      I prefer #3 Virginia hooks because of the longer shaft. Most tog rigs have 3/0 or 4/0 octopus hooks. The longer shaft gives more room to hold the green crabs. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching!

    Lol, I literally use a tsunami trophy II and a penn battle III just like this guy recommends. I use the light trophy II in 10ft rated .5 to 1.5 oz and the battle III in a 4000 size.

    I use baitkeeper rubber bands for my breakaway rig. Where I Tog fish once you are stuck you are not getting your sinker back

    What size of hook is good to catch a keeper?

  • @stevenpatrick77
    @stevenpatrick77 10 месяцев назад +1

    One thing I think is good advice is do not wear jeans or clothing that will sink you if you do happen to slip and fall in the water .
