The Empire's role was quite interesting, given they didn't have to make a battlefield of Dalmasca. If not for Ashe's resistance, Rabanastre well could have been a cultural, regional specialty at Harian tourism spot, not unlike Bhujerba. Even for all it's failures, the Empire was one of Ivalice's last chances for long-term stability. I also blame the treacherous nature of the senate and House Solidor's unethical administrative dealings.
It might seem lucrative or necessary to hate on this game or this theme for biting off of Star Wars, but let's be honest. This plus the armour and then seeing the judges acted out, you wanted to serve in the Archadian military.
FFX was the band breaking up. the game was basically the ornate funeral march for the series. Sakaguchi only barely advised on it, but it was still the last time the dream team was together in any capacity. XI was an MMO trying to cash in on the popularity of WoW done wrong, and everything after was made by a company who was under the impression that RPGs were dead and that MMOs were the future, and XII is a reflection of that. Less story than FFX, all the mechanics felt like an MMO and were optimized for a mindless grind, and the main character felt like an unimportant observer in the Final Fantasy version of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. It was a faint hearted attempt at a single player game from a company disinterested in making single player games.
FF has been inspired by Star Wars since the start FF2 was basically the plot of A New Hope, but medieval. Biggs and Wedge who are in practically every game? Both names are from Star Wars, I believe they were Luke's wingmen This game definitely leaned into that vibe as well, you basically spend half the game on Tattooine. Ashe is basically a cardboard cutout of Princess Laia
@@knightshousegames I’m not a Star wars fan but I do really like the design of each character and everything, I only get Star wars vibes from Gabranth because he straight up look like Darth Vader
Glory to the Achadian Empire! Glory to his excellency, Vayne Solidor!
What a masterpiece.
😭 this brings tears to my bespectacled eyes🫡😭
That moment when Larsa says "No brother, I will not" and this theme starts up, got me so hyped for the final battle(s).
Magnificent...
Agreed

Very nostalgic
The best empire in fiction!!
Correct
Even better than *that* Empire. This one *can* at least be just in a good portion of its actions.
Pretty badass
Magestic!
Final Fantasy was never the same after Sakaguchi’s time and XII

All ff12 reminds of star wars.
Even the plot also reminds of Star Wars
