@DarkEternal6 Obviously she knows that. but her tone and the context she used it in. She's fleshing out the irony of international law which allows you to kill your own civilians and soldiers in a civilian zone (city) if it's deemed that they are in danger from the ennemy in said city. International law obviously doesn't explicitly say this, which is why Tanya is fleshing it out. The purpose of that specific international law is to protect your own people from harm. And so since that's what the purpose of that law is, and since she is abusing that law. Then obviously it's to "protect" our people right ? that's the kind of joke she was making. If you remember in the specific episode, her commanding officer (not general zettour) interrupted her and she swiftly apologised. You can tell from the scene that he also knew what she was implying and he was clearly not happy about it. Not happy about his superiors ordering him to literally kill his own citizen, not happy about Tanya even attempting to flesh out the irony that is international law in front of War. So no, that's not what she's actually doing. Obviously whatever actions she's taking are to ensure her safety. You could literally say the same for a child rapist serial killer who kills cops that go after him, just ensuring his safety. Irrational exceptions exist, but you can't build your argument on that
@@ThatOneDude7 It's kind of unavoidable anyway if the Empire didn't shell city in to oblivion then they will play right into Republic hand who expected Empire to struck in bloody urban warfare and keep Empire logistic line to the front paralyzed. Also it's worth mentioning that the citizens of that city are republican and not the imperial citizens.

This theme serves as a reminder that we are actually watching the tale of an antagonist as oppose to a protag. Tanya is Anti Hero, you can even consider the Empire as the antagonist in the whole show. I like how Nut keeps reminded that Tanya is indeed a horrible person through these awesome tracks
In my point of view, empires are never the friendly type. The empire is apparently oppressive as expected from an expansionist nation. Tho it's true most people in the Empire still has a decent moral compass as can be seen with Erich Ruregen, Serebryakov and other members of Tanya's squad, still the empire is vilified when seen through the perspective of the republic and other nations. This is also further enhanced through sinister music which plays whenever the Empire avhieves victory throughout the series
@@mcbeefcakes6377 Well for me the empire is as evil as the other nations. the francois republic wants war with the empire so it can annex land from them. the commonwealth is an colonial empire so they are oppressive too and they help the francois republic because they fear the balance of power is in danger. and i dont think that the empire is "oppressive" because Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakov is from the Russy Federation and nobody distrusts her beacause of that. she is treated like every other citizen. so i even think that the empire has a very modern view on nationality and race. so i cant see why the empire should be evil? just because of music? or because the nations that fight against it think that it´s evil? and its the francois republic that attacks the empire and not the other way around so you should ceep that in mind aswell. and tanya is just doing everything she can to win and live a peacefull live. thats her endgoal.
