- This is a review of the Pilot V10 Grip ( amzn.to/2E6qVoB ), the 1.0mm broad version of the Pilot V7 (0.7mm) and Pilot V5 (0.5mm). The V10 Grip is Japanese pen that is not sold in the US.
Details and specs: unsharpen.com/pen/pilot-v10-g...
The Hi-Tecpoint pens are often seen as the Pilot Precise, which is the retractable version of these needletip rollerball pens.

I use that Pilot Hi-tech point 0.5 V5
I love it. It's smooth.
I wish that they made the Hi-Tecpoint Cartridge System Rollerball Pens for here in The States. The whole cartridge system is a great idea compared to just throwing away a used up Precise V5 or V7 disposable pen.
As a righty, I always enjoy watching a lefty write. Good video man.
Thank you!
Same, it's strange, I have two best friends and it took me something like 10+ years to learn that BOTH are lefties, at least when they write. Insane math on the chances of that happening, too. To be fair one is more ambi than lefty, but honestly it's more like lefties just get forced into ambi stuff along the way. I'd feel worse but when I pointed out my lefty friend playing Half Life just fine right-handed I'm like "damn son, are you okay?" and he's like "I LIKE TRACKBALLS BETTER THAN MICE" and I'm like yeah okay nevermind, don't ever talk again.
@@unsharpen Is the pilot v10 good for long essay writing in exams or taking dictation notes off a lecturer?I’m a leftie as well. Your videos are excellent man. I really enjoy them, you are very passionate about every pen you review and it shows in every video! Much respect! 😊👍
These pens are very very popular in india. To many of us v5 is the daily writer.... The cartridges are not standard pilot cartridges, the ink in then is proprietary for the v series pens. These pen leaks if you fill the cartridge with fountain pen ink or use regular pilot fountain pen cartridge in them.
@@unsharpen These cartridges are sold separately and are way cheaper than the fountain pen cartridges..
Pilot V5 is a nice pen smooth free ink flowing design...I use it for urban sketching and result is very cool.
I love v7 and v10
But my daily driver is v7 😍😍 it's suitable for my handwriting style
*Yaa v7 is really good, I also use it daily.*
V7 is my weapon of choice. Need to Try the v10 Though
The V10 grip is one of my favs.
Thanks for this!
I just bought a V10 a couple of days ago. Tried a few in the store, and the V10 was an instant hit for me. It's almost sexy how it just lathers over the page. Thick, juicy lines flow out effortlessly... it's just gorgeous. Mine actually looks thicker and better than what you're showing here, but maybe just give it time andet the ink work itself out. The V10 makes writing in a notebook a whole new thing.
V7 using since 1 year suitable with my handwriting
Question for you! Will the refillable V7 or V5 sections thread into a Pilot Explorer fountain pen barrel? Bonus points if you can tell me if the caps are interchangeable.
Hi Sal, great video. I have never seen a 1.0 Pilot hi tecpoint before, thanks for sharing your discovery. What I can't understand is why do Pilot use a metal clip on the disposable pens and use a flimsy plastic clip on their environmental friendly cartridge system pens. What do you think about that subject?
They all are refillable. Pull that feed out using a towel and inject a good quality ink.
I have the V5 and the V10 pens too!!!!
I hv the v7 and love it, its super smooth, color is nice and deep! Only flaw, it does not seem to be refillable! Will not open, just like the v10, so clearly not refillable, wah wah! 🙄🙄😐😐 gr8 review btw!
Can i use v10 to fill omr sheets
I actually use that pen alongside Pilot G2 & G3 only downside is it's not refillable here in the Philippines... And it's not available in purple but overall I really like this pen. Cuz it's smooth and not too fine.
What pens would you recommend in the philippines?
does the pilot v5 fit in vision elite ? so my vision elite will be refillable
V5...V7...V10 = .5 / .7 / 1.0 millimeters...not centimeters.
Hey, which series do you prefer more - the Pilot Hi-Tecpoint V series or the uni-ball eye series? I have used pens from both series at various points in my life. Currently, I'm in love with the uni-ball eye broad, which is the 1.0mm needle-tip variant (so uni-ball's counterpart to the V10 Grip). Is the V10 Grip better than the eye broad?
I like the v10 but I just got some Eyes so expect some videos soon.
I've become obsessed with finding a rollerball or inkroller compatible with fountain ink cartridges. The V5 and V7 Hi-Tecpoint are compatible with the pilot con-40 cartridge converter. I have sanded and polished the body to be more like a demonstrator. Do you know of any interchangeable caps that would be clear to complete the demonstrator look? I have tried the J. Herbin, Monterverde One Touch, Platinum Preppy with Noodler's inkroller tip, and finally the v5. The V5 is by far my favorite for a precise line. The Monteverde is nice in that it is retractable. The preppy writes the thickest line by far. Thank you for your content!
I keep commenting on this I know, it's just I love roller balls like this lol, but if you wanted to refill the 1 mm, you could swap the tip from that pen onto the v7 pen. I believe it is just friction fitted, so you could swap the points. I have an odd extra bold precise pen, and it has a removable point.
Sal I'll be waiting for that!
Sal here, I made a video on it, I just showed the pen and how to take off the point. You can watch it from my channel. The camera was out of focus because I was filming on my phone.
You can get refill for the V10 RT.
Im kinda confused. I can get v5 at 0.5 and 0.7. I can also get v7 at 0.5 and 0.7. Kinda weird if the difference is 0.5 and 0.7.
The US sells that pen. It is called BOLD. Instead of V10. To search: precise grip bold blue pilot pen. I love them! In the US you cannot get any of the other sizes of the hi tech-point pens. Only BOLD
They have engines?
I am using v10 grip its smooth
V10 can be refilled remove the front portion by using towel for proper griping and use parker ink To refill just simple.
The Pilot Precise V7's (original capped ones), will always have a place in my heart, but they are thin. But they write beautifully, as effortless as a fountain pen, and are water resistant even on Tomoe 52 gsm.
The Pilot Precise RT's are larger, but don't write as effortlessly. I think they use a different formula of ink.
I've been curious about the Hi-Techpoint V7's as to whether I can clean them and swap in inks from other brands.
I'm curious about how you like your Sailor 1911s. No rush of course. That's something to take one's time with. The Pro Gear is next on my list. They way I see people talk about that pen, that 21k nib, is with a love I don't really see. It reminds me of how I felt when I tried a Mike Masuyama nib from Franklin-Christoph: An Unprecedented feel.
What will be the best pick for greggs shorthand???
I use v5
I think the 1.0 pen is now marketed in the USA as the Pilot Precise Grip Bold.
Ah thanks! Haven’t seen those in stores yet.
Please answer my question.... I have pilot v5... But its not refillable... It has no cartridge system ... From where you buy that
@@unsharpen but the model óf v5 u showed is refillable... How?
Available at JetPens for a very low price. I ordered a black and also blue V7 plus a 3-pack of extra cartridges for each for under $9.00 USD. I’ve seen lots of reviews here on these and if I spoke Hindi they might have been helpful. Lookin’ forward to Baystate Blue in a V7!
anyone else buy the hi-tech v5 grip alongside hi-tech v5 cartridges... just to realise that the grip model doesn't take refills
Guys can i write with v7 in exams
I use V7 and its less than a dollar in india, its my daily driver
It's not the ink, that makes it quieter (less scratchy) it's the thicker point that touches the paper!!
Haha 1 dollar in india🤣🤣😀😀
Less than one dollar!
@@user-ri7hz4qe8d it costs around rs.80 so it's really 1 dollar and a few pennies
@@sanotaku6273 it's costs Rs.50
@@sanotaku6273 pilot pen is rs 60 in India
Are the cartridge in V5 and V7 same meaning can you use one's cartridge in another?
Yes it is
V7 is best
v 10 cartrige opens and i did it. u need a lot of strenght
How??
@@poomigaap5043 Remove front portion along with the tip than use pilot or parker ink.I just removed it by my teeth.🤣🤣🤣 .First i thought it is not reffilible but it can be
Should start at 3:45 and run for one minute.
Of course, the big thing about these V5 & V7 models is that they are refillable via a cartridge. They don’t make a 1.0mm cartridge that I know of. The Grip V10 you show here is a disposable model...quite different from the refillable ones.
V7 is best pen
I'd love to try the v7, so then I can use fountain pen ink.
The awesome thing is, is that I can use waterproof ink as well as fountain.
Collecter34 5 Good point. I wonder how the shimmer inks would do in these. Not well I’d guess.
David Mathews well, the ink that comes in that is pigmented, so I'm guessing that you could use those inks without a problem. Especially because the ink isn't as thick as rollerball ink.
Collecter34 5 I imagine you can refill the cartridge with the garden variety syringe. Hmmm. So the heavy India type Japanese inks they use for drawing Manga would work pretty well? That would be cool too. Lots of interesting possibilities.
David Mathews it takes any pilot cartridge, because it uses the same port. So, you wouldn't even need to use the original cartridge, just pop a converter in there!
The American versions you get in the store SUCK. I have tried the rt version, and the capped. The capped is really scratchy, and the rt makes severely inconsistent lines and you need to put a lot of pressure on it. Haven't tried the blue, so that might be it.
I bought the v10 for 20cents
