Heroes In The Sky used to be playable. It was actually pretty fun. It was like an early version of War Thunder back when it was only planes, but if it was PvE instead of PvP. Though the developers stopped supporting it, left it to rot, people could still play it for a long time but eventually when they lost the website domain (that the servers and launcher were tied to) it broke the game and made it impossible to get past the launcher. So, not exactly a scam, just... a literally dead game. Not abandoned dead, but unplayable dead.
It was really fun, since you could alter your game like you wanted it to be. Like better turnrates on Engines but slower or vice versa. Same goes for weaponry. You could drop bombs, air bombs on parachutes, rockets, guns etc. For its time it was a very large Foundation to choose from. I still miss it to this day. Unfortunatly i never found a remake or a private server. The old days... I miss them 😢
Kids these days, I swear... So tired of seeing "abandoned" written in reviews of actual, finished projects. Crash Dive 2 is actually a pretty good middle ground between an arcade game and a sim like Silent Hunter. I'd say it is ideal for those who want an experience of WWII naval combat, without needing to actually learn how to use a electromechanical Torpedo Data Computer. It is also pretty easy to mod and set your own paramaters (like if enemy destroyers can fire torpedoes at your submerged boat.) On the comical side, there is a game called "Panzermadels!", that is similar to the attack helicopter dating simulator, just with WWII tanks.
A good reminder that price is often irrelevant to actual quality. You can find great things that are free as much as terrible things that are expensive.
All Hit All Her would probably have been a blockbuster game in 2002. Honestly really cool to see a game with such old graphics made in 2021, even if it sucks.
Honestly, I think a WW2 / Dystopian Train Sim game could be really fun. Either set in Europe as Germany, or a made up world But the idea would be your in charge of cargo delivery during a big war. You have to manage your train's engine output, mixed with the cargo weight. But since there is an ongoing war happening, you have to arm your train. Give your train AT and AA guns, and so on. If we went to a made up world, I can see it being fun. Like a giant desert world. Having to deal with giant horrendous monsters and so on. Given a wider variety of weapon types as well. You get more money for more cargo you hold. Allowing you to buy and upgrade your train and company. Even better is if the train is fully detailed and allows you to walk around. I love the idea you set the train on autopilot, and you can go around the train and do various tasks. Have a setting of just 1 guy handling the train with futuristic technology. Gives off a dystopian feel as your all alone on this train ride.
I used to play Heroes in the Sky back in the 2000s or early 2010s at the latest. Unlocked a memory right there of me deleting new players in pvp by using an I16 with its insane turn speed! The missions were also really cool too, depending on the faction you would take opposing sides. ie allies would defend poland, france and england, while axis attack those maps. the 'world war' mode was super ahead of its time too! I imagine its under new owners and a shameless cash grab by now, but super cool to see it still even exists!
16:25 For Winter War i actually know the developer for it and his games are pretty good, the reason for winter war (and most of his games) aren't working at the moment is because he's currently working on a project for 3 years now called "Vietnam War", its pretty beefy im a tester myself and the 20GB space for it and a fully fleshed out minature vietnam is interesting to say the least. I just wanted to express some thoughts, Thorium (The Games Dev) has been busy with the Vietnam Project and his other games genuinely are fun to play, and he also has announced that he will make his older games workable once he finishes his main project.
Most of these games remind me of what my coding teacher thought me as lesson 1: if you don’t have a tutorial, no one will know how to play, and even if it looks sick, they’ll say it sucks.
Wings of Prey only works on console and Nintendo DS, the PC version doesn‘t work anymore because the service responsible for accounts doesn’t exist anymore
Heroes in the Sky used to be so good it was basically war thunder air combat but less grindy in 2007. You also had to use abilities to do air maneuvers which was fun. Not surprised it’s dead though.
34:36 That "Carrier Commander" was just a scam that works by pretending to be an actual game of the Carrier Command series (which are actually good games) to get them to buy it, then hope they accept the money spent as a lost investment instead of refunding.
I played Wings over Europe: When Cold War Gone Hot, it is a cheap version of Lock-On and DCS. And a lot of combat flight sim fans made a lot of mods! I enjoyed it pretty much!
Try Sabers of infinity and it’s sequels, you are an officer in a light fantasy napoleonic era setting, very good world building and lots of war crimes, highly recommend it.
I had in my childhood Comanche 4 on old ACER advertisement box as demo game on a disk with other titles like delta force desert warrior and operation flashpoint, icoming or somth like this vague scifi game. Box had full game with disk key for Aquanox and some vague racing game. Being child hadn't really played much of anything and I rather got hooked on OFP and mil sims when grew up thanks to the box laying around all this time. Age Of war has the Same music
You should have done T72: Balkans on Fire, it's super forgotten but it's fun with friends
34:36 That "Carrier Commander" was just a scam that works by pretending to be an actual game of the Carrier Command series (which are actually good games) to get them to buy it, then hope they accept the money spent as a lost investment instead of refunding.
Oh, yeah, i was thoght for a minute "isnt this game from 1990-ish?"
I guess Micropose can Cease and Desist em
I played Wings over Europe: When Cold War Gone Hot, it is a cheap version of Lock-On and DCS. And a lot of combat flight sim fans made a lot of mods! I enjoyed it pretty much!
Yooo my favorite game is featured
Crash Dive!!!!
My favorite game of all time
Try Sabers of infinity and it’s sequels, you are an officer in a light fantasy napoleonic era setting, very good world building and lots of war crimes, highly recommend it.

fun fact:wings of prey is actually old war thunder, basically a pre-alpha war thunder
elite Nam.... Now that brings back memories. Back when i used to play Delta force constantly. Hard game, even has some jank towards the end.
For me seeing Comanche 4 is more literally bringing up childhood memories.
