The owner of the local Honda/Kawasaki dealership once told me that back in the day he used to take a Ninja 900 demo bike to the dragstrip and would beat V65's all day long.
I owned a v65 and I hate to admit it, but Ninjas were turning nines. That said, the V65 was simply the fastest cruiser . Even those yammer cruisers couldn't match it.
Jess Mathiasen i think you're right :) i ride both bikes regularly and can tell you that Magna smokes Gpz from any gear, it's more botom end,more midrange and about the same if top end scream. Truly amazing bike. But Gpz sounds better :) would you agree?
Gpz looks great - really awesome bike in my opinion. I cant say about the sound as I'm on a laptop with lousy speakers here :-) Thank you for uploading the videos !!
Either the Magna wasn't running right, or the rider was afraid to give it the full beans. Official 1/4 mile figures for these bikes were: Magna 10.7 @126mph and GPZ 10.9 @122mph. Not only does the Magna have a better time, but also speed trap.
V65 looks stock and GPZ has work done to it NOS after market header and I would bet more work then that. Guy was carrying the front wheel in every gear.
Like for the honda , an 80's cruiser holding up with a 2000's kawasaki streetbike. Now thats a machine. i must say i have the 1983 v45 and 2000's gsx or gsxr750cc hardly passes me. considering that the GSXR is chain drive and mine is shaft drive which looses some power, I consider mine to be equal to today's bikes on power even though it is an 80's bike
not really a fair race--different engineered bikes, one is racing one is interstate cruising--believe me their are some big differences between these 2. still gotta love the magna though!
I own the 1983 pearl siren blue, the same bike as pee wee rode in the commercial before they required Honda to detune the things. My stepbrother owns the ninja 900. I personally have smoked 3 of those GPZ'S. Not one has been within 20 lengths through 4th gear. That's about 1/4. It is obvious in the video the 65 got off the gas. Not even close to the same sport. That being said, it's impossible to launch the 65 at anywhere near it's maximum capability and live.

Yes my bike is a winner, it indeed is great. What do you mean by saying fake race? This was not any kind of race. It's a video showing people who had a great time playing with bikes. I think you need to let your hate steam evaporate cause it affects you.

in 1984 the ninja was the fastest top speed bike AND quicker in a road race than a magna

The V65 needs tuned or a better rider it will blow the back tire off from a roll.. ask any old Honda Tec most Magna's died due to being flipped over..
