That is a good point. If you attack service very fast then you are committed to the net and you attacked the service then your opponent return will come fast too. At this moment you do not have time to move back. If you are trying to move back it will take much time as your whole body is committed to the net. There is simply not enough time to move back. You have to stay there and racket up to intercept. Even you are tottally committed it is better that way then take opponent service late. Lee
Dear coach Lee although i used to train with some part time coaches before, but i find your basic skills even more useful, just via videos i got improved a lot, thank you very much!
Mr Lee, I am not yet done watching your video , but I already want to thank you because I already learned a lot. I am so excited to go back to the court and play. Thank you very much! :)
As a very average club player ( i'm English), playing with much better players in Beijing, where I live, I actually have a good, effective serve. However, after watching this video I can clearly see where I can improve my service return AND my footwork. You are the best coach on the net ! Thanks Coach Lee.
I fully understand you. I think logic and principles are same in many things in many sports. In attitude and respecting opponent is even more so too. Thank you for your kind words on my clips. Lee
Mr.Lee, you are the best and you are very generous to teach and share your skills with us. You are a true sportsman and coach. Have a lot of respect for you.
Dear Don Thank you very much for your kind comment and you made my day. I am so delighted to know that you feel that way with my clips. Thank you and hope you have a very good day too. Lee
Played badminton off and on 35 years ago,but never really knew how to place or even the best way to hit the birdie.I stared to play again about a week ago with people who know how to play :) Found your videos here and find them sooooo helpful ,Thank you for taking the time to make them.Big help for me,thanks again
Hello Paul, Thank you very much for your comment and I am delighted to know my clips are helpful to your badminton. It is nice of you taking time to post your comment. Lee
In level doubles not much different but they can develop a different kind of tactics. Right and left handed pair is a very good pair in level doubles. Lee
Master Lee...first of all thank you very much....ur teching has been excellent...i hv improved lot....the most important things about ur teaching is..your explanations n easy moves...thank you
Yes you do and it does not matter which you are playing. I say you should do it about 95%. There is time you can see what your opponent is doing(when you put your oponent under pressure then you may skip the step one as you already new. Lee
Thank you very much for all the videos! I've only started playing badminton on a regular basis recently but with these videos I improve a lot!! At first I thought the little kick-start (step 1) wouldn't matter much, but it really does!! Thanks from belgium.
Rewatching this video again after watching other videos , I learn something new. Others watching - I urge you to watch all other videos because when you combine all the points, it solidifies your understanding of the techniques.
You should more ready for interception on your left side as normally people expect weak return from left side but as you are left handed, you can make very agressive return which your opponent do not expect. Lee
Thank you for your comment on my clips and I am very pleased to know that you like them. For your knee, it is better to be careful. You would better to use some kind of support. Ask professional Physio how to strengthen your knee. Lee
Thank you very much for this excellent training video. It was very good for me to understand “why” you do things a certain way (like the wrist rotating, returning feet to neutral stance, pumping your feet before take off), thank you.
In doubles or in singles. But both, serve to the T is good but depending on your oppornent style thyere are many other tactical services to different length and directions. Lee
thank very much Mr Lee. your teaching is very informative is easy to understanding. I am From Australia Sydney. Badminton is a very popular sport here. we just had First Yonex badminton open finished. it was very succesful and next year will be held again in olympic park stadium. hope you post more video for the beginers. thanks
dear coach lee, I play doubles in my university and I was never good in the front of the net. I usually would lift the shuttle but now I going to try to tap the shuttle. Thank you so much.
i love you and your dedication to the game mr. Lee makes me want to play better not for my sake but to emulate your enthusiasm and passion to badminton thank you
your video helps a lot! my family play badminton together and we are into training sessions as well...but we will still watch your video tutorials at home for more additional tips..thank you!
You have to rest to recover. Then make your knee strong. Knee injury is one of the worst one for badminton players. You must rest and make it better then try step by step to strengthen it. Lee
thank you sir for couching and sharing techniques....These are very helpful for me....I will practice these techniques to improve my game...These tips will helpful for me in my inter college matches....Thanks a lot sir.
The best way to choose one is after you test them. I believe a little bit weighted racket is better as that way you can add much more power. Lighter racket is good for defense and sharp skills but it is lack of power. I am sorry that I am anot able to answer your questions but please test them and feel them then choose one you like. Lee
Hallo MR. Lee. all your videos are awesome, i did kickboxing before and now i´am playing Badminton. There are alot of stuff the same techniques i just realise with your videos. My playing now is much better,,,thanks and please go on. sorry for my english :-)
Hi It seem that you have a lot of tension when you play and that tension make you not being able to move round court and making shot heavy. I think you take that tension off from your mind. Try to just enjoy and be happy to make mistakes and go for the shot freely. Try to move your feet much more as it will help your rythem on court. Be your self and enjoy you will play much better. Lee
excellent video. thanks. i notice on the third step, after returning serve and getting set to receive the return of the service return. that you are past the short service line. Do you find that you are too close to the net and don't have enough time to react? How do you coach your players to not get too close to net after attacking short serve? Thank you.
it's really strange but I've trained with other coaches.. tried listening to my friends.. but seemingly only your tips makes sense to me, which makes it infinitely easier to follow
Mr Lee , thanks a lot , it helps a lot especially cocking the hand part. Question: I the shuttle is low(very close to net) , do I need to bend more & then hit or I still ht the way you show in this vedio ??
Thanks a lot for ur time and effort in making these valuable clips.Your teaching is great and motivational.Sir please consider a full split step video and its application in real time.I am conscious in making the split step but always off on timing and sometimes during rally I forgot to do it.Pls put a video on this sir.It will be really helpful for beginners like us sir.

thanq sir for uploading this video ....sir i don't know how to place shuttle in low service ...may i know how it is and the other thing is i am facing difficulty in back had drive to place the shuttle
i return possibly aggressively , but i have done too many mistakes recently ,by returning aggressively, so that i am afraid of returning as well as possible. thank you very much for the useful information.
That is a good point. If you attack service very fast then you are committed to the net and you attacked the service then your opponent return will come fast too.
