Coop, we live in the SW side of Houston. the eye passed over us. we got 80mph winds from both sides of the eye & 6.3"in of rain, made our neighborhood look like a war zone. I grew up on Surfside beach. it got hammered.
Brazoria wrecked
I call BS on the 80mph wind they down playing it. Had to be over 100!!
I’m 2 blocks off Galveston Bay, Shoreacres area. Downed trees everywhere, my tool shed flew into my neighbors backyard, our pier was completely submerged…
Yeah I love in SW Houston it was crazy
Same….power just came back on. What up.
We were at port A after the storm before Beryl. Came home to get slammed by Beryl. Currently we have no power but glad I have a backup generator powering our house. Happy that You guys didn’t get hit because Port A is our go to spot for vacation. Nice to see you caught some fish.
Great video as always! Can confirm, we got smoked up here in Matagorda. I have a feeling we won’t be filling many stringers for the next week or two. Tight lines, Coop!
Only dude on RUclips fishing during the hurricane 💪🏼. Boss move my guy 🤙
Beachbomber will be dropping a pre storm vid from Houston soon!
Corpus area wasn't hit though. It was literally just another day here actually kinda nice lol
The fall/winter/spring after Hurricane Harvey was the best fishing I had experienced in 20+ years. I spent weeks helping people dig out. Then I got on the water and started pulling pilings and other obstructions to shore, and marking the ones I couldn't drag. When I finally got to fishing, it was awesome. And the best part was that there were very few other people on the water. It was like being back in the 70's. Overall, I think these events are good for our bays and the fish. Give it just a bit of time.
The fish you did pull in were beautiful. I quit keeping anything over 22" years ago (personal, not preaching), but I have to admit that I do miss those filets off of 20"-22" trout. Still, I think these limits are also good overall. Thanks for getting out and showing conditions post-storm.
If you want something to be concerned about, come down to the Rockport area and have a look at the state of the oyster fishery. They can't make the hard choice to cut down on the harvest, and a lot of reefs are all but dead. The ripple effects are already showing up.
Can't keep trout over 20 in anymore anyway 😅
@@adamclassen3394 Ummm... yeah.
Man if we do get a bunch of bad weather it will take the pressure off the fish as it keeps people off the water and give the fish a rest.
Do u think surfing labor day weekend at the gulf would be ok
@FragranceFrontier depends on. The weather if there will be any rideable surf and how hungry the sharks are. 4 shark bites on Texas coast 4th of July weekend.
My uncle used to go to P Island to fish in the surf for huge redfish post hurricane. One time he caught a large wooden bread bowl from Mexico or the Islands! I still have it. The bottom was charred a bit from setting it to close to wood stove. We are fortunate to have stronger homes, than those folks did. Texas is 3 degrees hotter than last year, this time. I can recall 40 + years ago when hot gulf water was 83 degrees. Lets hope any new storms go in where there aren't many people. I can't imagine the bad tempers in Houston waiting for gas or for electricity to be fixed.
I'm so jealous. I loved fishing the gulf coast. Now that I've moved back up north, I'm stuck catching big pike and brown trout
1800 help is out there 😂
Stingray……Texas saltwater land mine.
Just found you and enjoy your video. 70 yrs old and fished Texas coast all my life. The hurricane kicked our butts. I was without power for 9 days here in Pearland.
seeyalaterbye and “Happiness is teeth marks on your top water lure” 😎
Great video. Super way to distract from lack of normalcy around here.
Live just north of Houston and got the eye. Been through many hurricanes but this one surprised me with the intensity of a so called Cat 1. Lots and lots of big trees, fences and limbs down where we live. On generator and internet only through hot spot. Zero reason to complain. Many have it much much worse than us.
Can’t wait to get back to your area and fish the surf. Hopefully, water is gonna clear for the summer and fall in the near future.
Man, I really don't want a busy hurricane season but it looks inevitable. My only hope is we get Tropical Storm Debby to hit Dallas for the memes (and go through central Texas on the way because we need the rain)
Best comment ever lol
Great vi Coop!! South of Houston here in League City suffered minor damage. Hardest part for me was fishing my cushions out of the pool. I know personally lots of people that were hit hard. My fam has been lucky with this crazy ass weather lately. This video has got the saltwater in my veins boiling. Need to get a line wet soon.
We're in Seabrook and it certainly did a number on us. Lots of trees and fences down and on powerlines. The biggest struggle has been power. We were the lucky ones that only lost it for 24 hours. There are people still without now 4 days later. Our power company dropped the ball on this one. Hopefully lesson learned. Ready to get out there and see how the fishing is. Hearing reports that it's great right now. Nice fish, cool vid. Keep it up Coop!
Good meeting you and your fam in Cancun 🤙
I am down here near Brownsville. It had me worried in the beginning. Until it took the North Turn, it was on the same path as Hurricane Gilbert back in 1988, one of the largest hurricanes on record. Glad your Safe
Love your vid brother keep them coming! Even throughout beryl 🤣
North Harris County here, just above Houston. Still no power to 1.39 million Centerpoint customers. Lots of property damage. People having to re-learn how to drive without traffic lights.
Same 😔
Grew up in sw Houston moved to the woodlands and still got hammered. No power going on day number 4! Thank God for generators!
Man, had tree blow over. The top took out the power line and the root ball pulled up the gas line. But it missed the house and I will have plenty of firewood.
Hey Coop,
I’m sitting in Choke Canyon State Park after evacuating from Palacios. Still waiting for power before I return… thanks for the videos, I’ve been a fan for a few years now. Tight lines brother.
How's the fishing?
@@saxet9049 Catch some crocodiles and dispose of them.
In Kingwood here and got trashed. Still haven’t been able to check on my boat but hoping for the best.
I am watching this going on day 4 with no electricity. Me and my dog been car camping. The heat is terrible.
Very nice Coop, stay safe out there
Keep those videos coming. Enjoyed it.
Not bad for a Clark alum. Keep up the practice and in a few more years you might be able to hang with Churchill anglers! 🏈🎣👍
San leon here bro. (Galveston area) it sucks lol but like you, we will survive. Tight lines buddy!
Great video keep up the good work!
Good stuff Coop!
Glad you made out okay Coop.
Gerudo Valley in the background is doing it for me
rode out harvey 2017 in victoria. we are praying for all those impacted by beryl.
Lake Houston Area we got rampaged by wind surprisingly all the bayous were full too, i slept through most of it.
Lol i was thrown of with the text alert that kept saying middle coast. Never heard of the small texas Islands called that. It was the 1st for me.
I’m in Galveston and still have no power, caught a 2 man limit this morning tho 🔥one other boat besides us on the water and the bite was hotttttt
Yes!!! Here for the new meteorologist Coop!!
Good stuff as always
I love the “bad word” bleep😂 If you want to come up to the chesapeake bay in June of next year, I’d love to have you. Topwater trout mostly all citations sized trout 24+
Great lesson on el niño and la niña
Informative
The Man, the myth, the weatherman
Far southwest Houston near Missouri City. 75-80 mph wind gusts. Tree debris everywhere. One fell on our line from pole to house but don't know if it's damaged cause power went off 5:15am during the storm. 40 hours later & still no power in my neighborhood. Generator saved the food in refrigerator & freezer & we have 1 window a/c unit keeping us comfortable in living room & kitchen. Cooking on the pit/grill & Coleman Campstove. Power on maybe tomorrow they say. All this while I'm on vacation from driving an 18-wheeler.
Sure glad that storm didn’t hit us here in the RGV we ended up having beautiful sunny days but we did have a couple hrs of rain
As a weather nerd I did not expect this crossover.
I was in rockport over the weekend and fished port a beach and was lots of see weed in the surf couldn’t keep a bait out because of it. Bays in rockport was good fishing. Headed back to Houston to get nailed by the hurricane trees down everywhere.
Think it will be back to normal labor day weekend?
We live about 35 miles due north of Matagorda as the crow flies and let me tell you that was some ridiculous wind! I’m pretty sure we saw right at 100 mph gusts on the reg and that sucked! Ruined a ton of roofs and lots of downed trees. I don’t wanna go through anything bigger.
yes i wish it came over us i wanted to fish on the jettys. and catch a fish in the eye.
From Houston power still out hopefully it will be back tmr🤷
There was an article of a guy where i live (SE Houston) who got stuck in a whataburger parking due to the flooding decided to catch a nice large mouth out of ditch and picture shows him holding a burger in one and and the fish in the other
Love the shirt. Puro SA, ese. I drive by Clark everyday going to work!
Coop, see you next month. Keep slaying bro
Caught my first red fish at Freeport
Me and my wife honeymooned to Galveston. Got there on the 30th and got home last night, July 8th. We were out fishing and crabbing until 2:00 am The morning before it happened. Trees ripped out of the ground, traffic lights upturned, and a window in our airbnb getting broken. Woke up in the morning and drove through Houston headed home. So many upturned trees. Most of the island lost power but we got lucky, our place had ac when we woke up in the morning!
Me and my wife plan on going there for labor day, think it will be good by then?
@@FragranceFrontier yeah should be fine within a week or so
We got it north of Houston. Lost power, but that was the worst for us.
Currently in Houston, it's hour 36 of no power at our place, and no timeline for restoration... Guess I'll go fishing
You have the perfect idea go fishing
I have caught 25"+ reds on 10lb power pro braid. If you have the right set up and right drag setting you should never break off on fish that size with 15lb line
Nice very good size trout
Man my dad used to make and sell these "flats caddys" which was basically just a Styrofoam block with some rod holders, a bait bucket and a little working area cause we would go wading all the time. Sadly I was in an accident with the last one in my trunk and it got destroyed, but it's fucking life changing having somewhere to put your rod or a table to tie on hooks or anything instead of having to arm crimp the rod desperately trying to keep it out of the water
Enjoyed the class Professor. Thank You. Would watch more. (now I gotta go buy a silver spook too? emulating your loadout ain't cheap! still appreciate it.)
Just got my power back over here in SETX Beaumont...we're good though..
watching/reading from my hotel room in south shore harbor, waiting for electricity to get restored...3 days and counting...
Makes me real nervous watching you wade fish..with all those Bull sharks around! 😬🦈
Haha I didn't add it to the vid but I was going to keep some fish on the stringer but decided not to because the high tides brings more sharks in.
I live in Waco and didn't even get any rain out of it, but am headed to Bolivar Peninsula on Sunday. Hopefully they have the power back on by then, they got hit pretty hard.
I plan on going to bolivar peninsula labor day weekend to shark fish for my first time. Do you know where i can buy bait at near by?
Still without power in Alvin, TX
The storm was pretty brutal. Still don't have power
Nice bro,
Dude you should have been here in the 70’s Celia , Bula it was crazy but didn’t affect fishing. And yeah it was in the 90’s back then too!
We got hammered near Lake Houston with tree damage all tangled up with the powerlines. No power since 5:30 AM Monday, and the cell service evaporated too which is a kick in the crotch. I'd much rather be fishing...
I live in nw Houston and my street is still black with the creeks still flowing .
Puts a lot of new water into the bay, takes a lot of the warm nasty water out of it, not too bad
“Bad word” 🤣
Hi Coop
Good stuff as always Coop. Weatherman Coop now? #jackofalltrades
What kind of rod and reel combo you perfer for lures
Dude you make great content. Planning a trip to take my wife to the Selena museum. What are the chances on a meet, greet, fishing trip?
Not to bad from the Wharton tx area..
How long should I give it before I go on tripto Galveston to fish had it planed next week but I think that’s not gonna work
@Thresherfishing I would love to fish with you one day I live is south Texas Corpus area
How would you expect the bay fishing to be now since beryl has passes in Galveston. What effects does the storm have on the fish? I’ve heard some say it’s the best fishing after a storm, some are saying it’ll be weeks before it’s back. Thoughts?
Hello coop I was wonder if you could share with us your GoPro hat mount with the microphone please.
What kind of line are you using when they were breaking off? Mono or Floro?
Gar fishing next?👀
Spectrum is down!
Yes also hete in S.A. TEXAS!! RIDICULOUS
Yup, thank god i got att wireless. 🤷🏽♂️ guess i cant do my homework today
Did you catch that second red on a slam shady?
What microphone are you using with your go pro for your audio? I've been trying to get decent audio out of my hero 7 and have been falling flat on my face
Dji
Hey Mr Cooper. Im here downtown corpus ! Is hurricane chris hitting us ?
Dude, just tie on 40# PP and don't worry about break offs, ever. I tie directly to the lure with no issues. We fish the same areas and the fish don't care about the line.
Day 5 with no power and it’s so damn hot
Here is the 1000th time coop has been asked to do a video on how he rigs his slip bobber. Hopefully he follows through this time

@@ThresherFishing how did I miss that 😆 you're the man
I'm #420 on the likes. 😂
Were you affected by Beryl? I hope you are okay. It devastated Jamaica
be careful wade fishing there was a few shark attacks at SPI this fourth of july week
Sup, Coop!!
Sup sup!
And we’re only at the letter B.
what rod are you using?
Daiwa Isla 7' ML
Dirty water is fog of war to the fishies. Tx has been getting slaughtered with weather. Maybe those cattle reds or a number of other things.
Will all that heat lead to a Red Tide?
got hit hard power was down for 4 days it just got back up
Did you go to Clark or Marshall?
Marshal
the bull shark comment was funny in a fu€|{£d up way because of the shark attack that happened down south. I want to try weight / way ( idk how its spelled) but im to afraid to do it alone. Do i want to see the shark before it bites or am i beter off not knowing whats around me in the water? 😮
First!
I got hit by beryl and still without power
