My theory with undertale is that frisk died when they fell, that’s why it’s not such a big deal for us to be in control, while in deltarune, kris is a living teenager, going through every day life until one day, we possessed them and their true personality is fighting us to take back control over their body

Well we are kinda Chara we do bake them in undertale, hence chara being short for character.

Unlike Frisk, Kris knows what's going on. he's aware about everything that's happening to him
Maybe Frisk does know as well, but decides to just go with it since it _doesn’t matter anymore_ to them.

Susie is the god damn main protagonist in Deltarune and nothing can change my mind
I mean that would kind of make sense, I mean the main battle theme for fighting enemies is titled "Rude Buster", which is one of Susie's ultimate attacks, so it actually makes quite a bit of sense.
@@cal2128 I wouldn't call Rude Buster an "ultimate attack", considering a powered up version of it exists, and even that isn't as strong as Snow Grave.

Susie asked a VERY good question. One that people don't seem to be asking. Where did Kris get a knife? Where did Kris...the magicless human...get a knife? It's not even a knife made of magic like Undyne's spear! They literally manifested an actual knife from nothing...and THIS is the real Kris? Where's their soul? If the red soul isn't theirs, where is it?
Kris probably wasnt as mean before losing their soul, flowey showed that beings without a soul are empty and cruel. And as for kris's soul, back in C1 before it was patched out, there was a save file for kris when you first boot up the game, and you had to overwrite it to play
well I mean humans aren’t entirely magicless just don’t usually have enough to do anything meaningful, just like how monsters have determination but only the strongest monsters can make use of it for a few seconds (unless your undyne I guess)
As for the way kris pulled out the knife, maybe humans and monsters have more “equal” balance of determination and magic since Susie implied that she could bleed in deltarune, or something like that idk
Y'know, the same thing that Kris is dealing with (not being themselves) was probably also Frisk's issue. But Frisk (I'm just spitballing here please don't get mad if I'm wrong) may have been too young to understand what was going on, at least younger than Kris
for me, t feels closer to Frisk not even being a separate existence from the player in terms of mind. or to put it simply, in-story, Frisk and the player are the same thing.
For kris however, it's clear from the end of chapter 1 that Kris and the player (soul) are different entities, and Kris really don't like not having control over himself
i kinda think while kris as a teenager is freaking out, frisk, being a lil kid is just "uh yea the red thing tells me what to do i do it -_-" and has zero issues with it
Kris literally has a freakout when he realizes he's the same as Spamton, starts yelling and shit, so this comic ties so well, can't believe this is from 2 years ago
Your screwball theory brings up an interesting question: Is Frisk their own person? Or are they only a parallel to/reincarnation of Chara that isn’t supposed to last after the events of the game?
I also think it’s also due to like different personalities and goals.
While Frisk seems to be more laid back and wanting to do what’s right, Kris, being in their teens and having their moods, is more possessive over their own life and more observant.
That could be another reason as to why Kris is the only one of the two who goes out of their way of trying to get it out.
And thus Bois and Gal's the entire plot of Deltarune Chapter 2 is born

Even though it isn’t “canon” with the chapters, it still makes a lot of sense with the actual game.
Susie is definitely more like the main protagonist and Kris is being unwillingly used/controlled by the player.

After seeing what happened to Spamton in Chapter 2, I’m now actually kinda glad Susie stopped Kris from destroying the soul.
Yeah this still is honestly a possible side story that problobly wont be explored much but is still a heavy possibility other… other theroies about what chapter 2 would be like

Hearing Kris with this soft, british voice really threw me for a loop for a second
I mean I already knew how messed up our situation with kris is but reading this just put it into so much more perspective. The idea that the only reason kris seems so “chill” is because of us controlling them, and not because that’s how they normally are, just really hit home. That and the fact their their world, their lives, their story, to them, is their entire reality, the same way our lives and our world is our reality. But to us their lives and world are just a game, just a story, something that isn’t real, that doesn’t have any actual weight in real life. But to them it does, of course it does.
If kris really does hate us, I absolutely do not blame them. All I want is for them to be happy and to be able to hand control back over. I just want them all to be happy 😭

Well of course, but if I would be Susie I would kinda take care that he stays safe when he is not himself because who knows how long I will be in the Dark World. Which I know is not the easiest thing to do considering he can summon a knife and who knows what else and his mom or Alphys would be worried, if he randomly switches to be possed. But I would at least not let him standing there at the bench and leave.
Uh if somebody was all of a sudden clearly bipolar and toxic and dangerous the smartest decision would be to leave immediatley

You can clearly see that Kris had enough he tired of being a puppet to the player he do what it take to get them away even if he had to erase his world.
Kris tell us his choice never matter since of us the player took over his life action Kris had not felt the love he should given. Every time he see them he is hurt because the good thing he does wasn't even him it like he had been forgotten.
Imagine learning your friend is under someone else's control ,

Ok, when I was reading this, Susie felt a little disconnected from her character in the game, but by hearing it I can see this is probably a really good interpretation, knowing what happened in chapter 2.
Like she's conflicted if she wants or not to be friends with someone else, but still carries that bullying attitude with her while at the same time longing for someone to care for, even if she doesn't know how. (And also dealing with all the weird stuff in this world but whatever)
Some of these dynamics can also be observed in her interactions with Noelle, if we go deeper than just shipping them and look at what Susie is feeling.
During 3:25, Kris materializes a knife. In chapter 2, some items can increase Kris's magic (like royalpin and dealmaker). So It's pretty possible that humans can use magic. Not as good as monsters, but they can.

Remember in undertale, it was the humans who sealed the monsters underground. Humans CAN and HAVE done magic, they’ve just long since forgotten.
ah the duality of the situation. Kris is someone that for whatever reason mellowed out over time and became notably passive which made our silent protag shtick go unnoticed by the people in his life because by that point he was already acting like a zombie compelled by... something. now he's experienced what many people in this introverted depression state would want, to be lifted out from the muk and better the lives of those around them.... only he isn't the one doing it. the comic shows that Kris never forgot what Susie did to him but also that he wants to be the guy that has been helping her and going on adventures but he isn't. he's being piloted around without any say with his feelings being left by the wayside. in the end, you'd kinda want to ask if Kris even really has friends or are the friends he's made now even his.
Kris doesnt want this not because he doesnt want to help Susie, Adventure, or save the world but because he doesn't get a choice in the matter he probably cant even enjoy the journey even if he aligns very closely with the player's actions

It is really hard to explain my theory in english, but I will try. My guess that Deltarune is Chara's dream, which she/he dreams (bc she/he is kinda dead, but not really) and she really misses Asriel. You may ask: What about Undyne and Alphys? In my theory, Undyne did not known Alphys, because when Chara was alive, the royal scientist was W. D. Gaster. What about Undyne's eye? Maybe when Chara was alive, Undyne got both eyes and after the Chara died, maybe some accident happend.

The voice acting for both Kris and Susie is amazing! Even though we have chapter 2 now, I thoroughly enjoyed this and seeing another player’s interpretation on what could have happened after chapter one.

I've seen multiple dubs of this comic but i love this one, specially Kris when he ask Susie "If wasn't she the one who said his choices don't matter" and when the player says hi to Susie, it sounds so natural and unnatural at the same time without mention the edition, great work! (sorry if there's ortographic errors, im a Spanish speaker)
This was brilliantly drawn, written, and acted. Thank you so much and it puts Kris' behavior in the epilogue in a possibly more sympathetic light.

I would never last as a playable character in a video game, not due to difficulty in the games themselves, but due to the fact I am absolutely terrified of being controlled (which may seem ironic that I have developed a desire to control everything, but my reasoning is: if I control everything then nothing can control me.)
