thank you so very much, you don't just teach how to do it but you make us understand the process so that we apply it effectively and can remember it. Seriously you are God's gift to humanity. Thank you and God bless you always.
As so many others have said, this is by far the best explanation of frequency separation I have come across and I finally feel I fully understand it. Many thanks. You really are my "Go to guy" when I want to know something in Lightroom or Photoshop.
Your videos are excellent, informative & professional! Very easy to understand & follow. Even for me as a PS & LR newbie. You are right to the point & your explanations & analogies are great! I'm actually enjoying the learning process through your videos! Thank you so much Unmesh!!!
Continuesly watching your video since 1 month and now ... I m a fan of your work . U r doing far better than the institutes which is providing us education of these software. Hats off
I've seen several tutorials on this topic from artists and teachers I hold in high regard. Have to say, this is one of the best explanations I've seen yet, and the first I've seen where the mixer brush is used. Great job and thank you for sharing!
thank you so much!!! you actually helped everyone understand what Frequency separation is!!! much more useful than just memorising the STEPS and not knowing what we are doing. takes time for some of us to be a science guy, you totally saved us.
Brilliantly explained. An intimidating concept made totally understandable. Yes, the essence of being smart is the ability to make dummies like me understand.
I'm looking retouch skin tone with frequency so long then now with your lesson is the best instructor to understand what is " skin tone retouch with Frequency " thank you thank you so much about your passionate to share your technic to us absolutely I'm is your fan now , thanks
There is a non destructive way to do this with the mixer brush. You could just turn off visivility of the high key layer (details), create a new layer in the middle of low key and high key layers, check "sample all layers" in the mixer brush options and start painting in the new layer, that way you sample the color layer but the painting is made on that separate layer, so you can erase or low the opacity if the efect is too hard.
@@hawaffenna If you paint with the wet brush on a new layer with the "sample all layers" checked, you just use the eraser tool. This works ONLY if you use the mixer brush on a new layer on top of the photography layer
I've been using FS for years, but never with the mixer brush. Went for it with my last three portraits and I have to say it gives a very natural result but still very effective. I worked on a copy of the colour/low layer to work non destructively. Just in case. Thank you for sharing. It's an awesome tutorial.
Wow, that was the best explanation ever, right from understanding what frequency actually is through to the most useful analogies I've ever heard. I look forward to seeing the rest of your videos and wish you every success.
Awesome tutorial! I am not easily impressed and I don't believe I have ever left a comment on youtube that I can remember but I had to comment to ask you to keep up the excellent work. The depth, practical examples, and overall content were incredible. What I have to say impressed me the most though was the enthusiasm with which you delivered the tutorial. Keep it up, man!
I love that Sibyl😄😄🙋 I don't understand your language, unfortunately, I learn visually. I wish the videos had Persian subtitles. But I really enjoy your training. You are devoted❤
Great job. You demonstrated that art and science are intertwined. Art makes practical application of science. Both visual and auditory arts can both apply science( physics) and math to create the desired results. Math is the language of science. Art is physical applied expression of science and math. The artist by observing nature creates a unique interpretation without necessarily being aware of the science and math behind his artistic expression. Photoshop is the mathematical scientific tool that allows someone like me to attempt to become an artist at the most elementary level.
Every time I want to learn something new about Photoshop on YT, I add Piximperfect at the end of the search, and let this dude in the video do the rest.
Unmesh, this may seem little off topic here. Can you show us your studio and how the light are being setup? I like how the background is totally white and the color is just nice. thanks.
5 years later and this is still my favourite FS method (wet brush). Would you consider redoing this tutorial with a slightly lighter approach? I think it would be valuable.
Thanks for all your tuts! I've been thinking about FS blur number for a long time, for now my understanding is that, before blur, I should zoom in enough to make sure small texture,i.e. pores, be blurred and larger texture not blurred. That means,FS not only separates texture from color and tone, but also separates small texture from bigger texture. Don't know if I'm right.
Digital Artist here: do not mix about the smile lines, because those are Core Shadows, and are the foundation of the relationship between light environment and geometry of an object. as an added tip for mixer brushing, and if you can alter the brush used with mixer; block in the facial planes with a more or less rectangular brush with light transfer for higher quality softening.
Question, is it really better to remove the blemishes like acne before doing frequency separation? Because on other tutorials they do it in the texture layer of the freq separation process. Thanks!
Tell me piximperfect, maybe we could take ,for example , this photo’s high frequency and put it to the another picture which wouldn’t have texture or blurred too much
Unmesh - will the apply image, blend subtract and offset 128 work for both 8bit and 16 bit images? I have read that you may need to do something different for 16 bit? Thanks
Question: I have heard that the "apply image" parameters are different for 8 bit vs 16 bit editing in PS. Have you ever heard this? Were you editing in 8 or 16 bit? Thanks!
i swear this is the best photoshop tutorial channel ever! I loved PHLEARN but when I found this channel, this guy's explanation is much more understandable.
@@michaelcus734 well did you just watch phlearn free RUclips videos or the pro subscription? Yeah this guy's a god lol perfect explanations. I was wondering what order to blemish, liquify, frequency separation etc and sorta had it figured out but this makes so much sense.
