- We know the basics and where to get started with training good amiibo. Now it's time to get into the training itself! Whether you're powering up a raid boss, looking to get deep into competitive amiibo tournaments, or just putzing around for fun, these are the basics of what every amiibo trainer should know before jumping in! If you think you're just gonna fight it like you would a human, guess again. Training a good amiibo takes more than just fancy eye-hand coordination. It's going to take some planning, knowledge, and good ol' fashioned hard work!
Special thanks to all those who have participated in the various tournaments and amiibo streams I've hosted! Couldn't make this video without all the B-Roll footage.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, amiibo, and the music therein are all owned by Nintendo.
Do not lick or eat amiibo.
My pacman amiibo used to teabag and throw cherry's at you when you fall off the stage.
Bruh lol that’s epic
Wow
My Inkling Amiibo is so toxic that it will literally save you from fall offstage just to combo you to the sky box.
@@froster1247 my ice climbers amibo maybe have flying powers they never reach the floor and they always split up there never together
My inkling would try and spike you, give up, do it again, give up again, taunt in my face then kill me
You have no idea how much this is going to help me. I got 3 amiibos for Christmas (K. Rool, Ganondorf, and Inkling), and I'm struggling to train all of them. I often encountered problems as early as levels 26 through 30.
Amiibo problems:
K. Rool: never uses crown and he taunts Way. Too. Much!
Ganondorf: up-tilts constantly
Inkling: jumps too much, uses side smash too much, and when she hits you with roller, she kind of just stands there..(and I'm just internally yelling at my Amiibo "DOO SOMETHIIING!!")
This really helped explain how Amiibos work in Smash Bros, and hopefully I'll have better results when I put this newly found advice into play.
Also, for anybody wondering, I named the Amiibos the following:
King K. Rool = Xtra-THICC
Inkling = Agent 3
Ganondorf = Calamity
Me: Up tilts once
My Mewtwo: *Spam*
"You pick ones that have absolutely banger music."
*You Will Know Our Names starts playing*
I see you're a man of culture as well.
"At low levels, your amiibo has been given an AI that is dumber than a sack of hammers in a mud pit in February."

woah the slow mode bit really helped me out, thanks!
Glad to hear it! It's been very helpful for me too.
3:42
Best line ever
Glad you liked it. Stole it from a friend who is a computer programmer
7:25 too 😂
Get this man some subs! The Amiibo game is a very slept on scene, and the fact that I could find someone to explain Amiibo learning In-depth is insane. You helped me, My Little Mac "Mac-Double", and my K. Rool "Gutsto" a ton with this👍
I made a DK amiibo with 4500 attack and -400 defence approximately.
He kept killing himself.
He still does.
But
He kills the foe first.
Make him learn to sacrifice a stock to get a kill, when he's at an advantage.
Do you mean 4600 attack and -400 defence or 4500 attack and -300 defence?
The best video explaining in detail what an amiibo is and how to train it.
And here I thought my Mewtwo Amibo ate glue and drank battery acid in its free time. Nope I just had no idea what to do
I mean, the two aren't mutually exclusive. :P
This helped a lot thank you dude!
No problem! Happy to help. Let me know if you have more questions
I guessed they reached 50 level and they did or they didn’t?
Dude your channel should have more subs, your video and audio is amazing and you deserve more recognition.
I love these videos! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the kind words! Will definitely do so!
Hmm. I think it's time to retrain some of my worse amiibo with this new info, thanks. Duck Hunt time!
The world needs more Duck Hunts. You're doing God's work
Hi, I main Duck Hunt but my Duck Hunt amiibo isn't able to do any of the combos I do, what do I do?? (And he acts weird when he does Jump Down B)
Help plz. 😅
@@johanklaver3237 Amiibo cant learn combos, they have a few hard coded ones but our metas combos yeah no they aint gonna work
Thanks for this video! I'm really considering retraining my Falco, Pit, and Zelsa amiibos, so if I do, this really helps!
Banger music you say......
*RIVERS IN THE DESERT STARTS PLAYING*
Ironically, I have an Isabelle amiibo (who I am training to be the happiest AI grabber) and giggled when you said “treat it like a puppy”
I just got my hands on a Steve amiibo and I am training him to legit do nothing. His name is happy man. And he just mines. He is so happy.
It's important for an amiibo to like their job
Me: Watches this video
Me again: *Realizes I am too noob and the only thing I can train them is to not shield, and spam smash attacks and B attacks aimlessly.*
Good video man!! Loved the edits and how well paced your content is :)) you’ve earned my sub
(Up smashes once)
Greninja: I have decided I shall use this and only this for the rest of eternity
Never forget, never EVER use down air against a Mario amiibo. He will spam it forever and ever.
Same with Kirby. Luckily my other Amiibos can beat the shit out of him so he learns, eventually.
YAHOO
Frick i already did that. Now I have to start over
My Captain Falcon amiibo wall jumps to recover a lot, I'm so proud
3:50- *teleports behind you*
“You are already dead.”
ty! my mario is finally doing up throw to dair and spiking
Glad to hear it!
Thanks! These videos are very educational and easy to understand. I just got my first amibo, and fed it two spirits... does this affect the sliders somehow so I want to reset, or can I still train normally? I don’t plan on joining any tourneys
Great question. Giving amiibo spirits will move their sliders around. For that reason we tend to recommend you give them spirits first THEN train. Sounds to me like you're fine.
@@SpliceStream If I give my amiibo spirits, can I play local Smash with friends with my amiibo? I think you mentioned in the first video that you couldn't join vanilla tourneys if you gave your amiibo spirits, but could I play with my friends and amiibo?
@@joshuastevens5112 In Smash mode amiibo can be added just like any other player.
Joshua Stevens yes you can, vanilla ruleset is made by the community nintendo doesn’t have rules like that
My joker down taunts every time he launches you
Thank you king, i think you may just have saved my will to train my Chrom amiibo
i made my pichu amibo really jumpy by accident and here's the problem, it's actually effective
I got a Joker Amiibo the second he came out, and there's a very funny little quirk about him. One of his pre-programmed "combos" is he regularly keeps trying to use up-B to grab an opponent above him with his grappling hook to combo. I mean, on the one hand it sometimes does work, but he also keeps doing this...when Arsene is out...which makes him fly...so suddenly the move becomes useless. That's one of the other weird things about Joker, he kinda doesn't understand or know wtf Arsene is. It's like he suddenly gets this super power-up but he has no fucking clue how the hell it works or what it does to his moveset. On the one hand, DON'T LET HIM DOWN AIR YOU, he LOVES that move irregardless of if Arsene is out to spike you!
Well thank you, I just taught my joker up throw, up air drag down, down smash
Oh God, I was proud of my Amiibo until I realized it dodged every 5 seconds.
the first one i ever trained was doing ok then around level 40 I accidently taughted once and it wouldn't stop so i had to wipe it
Thank you so much because I was having trouble with my pichu and lucina amiibos.
I have the Sephiroth and Joker amiibo and these two are INSANE! They'll gang up on you in Team Battles and destroy you quite easily in less than five seconds with their combined strength. They've ripped through every Level 9 CPU I could think of and even took down the world-famous Level 9 CPU Kazuya by working in sync! Both of them are equipped with Legend-Type Attack Spirits and they're my most difficult amiibo to beat! Joker has no Support Spirits equipped, but Sephiroth does.
i like how in the description it says do not lick or eat amiibo
My dad showed me G. I. Joe cartoon and that nostalgia hit hard XD
Another move Amiibo's spam from my experience:
MR. GAME & WATCH'S DOWN TILT
Why is no one talking about the combo the Mario amiibo landed in 12:04 ? HOW DO I TEACH MY MARIO THAT!?
Now I can train my Bayonetta amiibo
.... can what about echo fighters, can a daisy player train peach with Daisy
Probably not. Some echos are different from their counterparts.
I put turn learn off and it works after reach level 50 and is good to go with the real battle begins
By the way, I put learn off about level 35, that will be okay!
I find it best that if you plan on giving your amiibo specific spirits then you should use those same spirits and show them how to use them correctly.
I always thought of mibo training as subtly training an AI
By moving sliders
This is a Splice moment
Thanks for the advice man, it was really helpful. But at 15:02 you said that link amiibo cant deal with their own bombs. But my Link amiibo uses the bombs properly and even styles with it.
Would love to see it in a tournament then. That would be a very unique link!
Very helpful. Thanks man!
from what I've learned fighting amiibo's myself
do NOT smash attack often, I have a Lucas amiibo and Lucas' up-smash is stupidly broken and get kills often, but is easily punishable.
At the beginning lvls it started spamming smash attacks, but I slowly learned it more aerials, special attacks and dodges.
I treat my Falco amiibo like they're my son, and that also means that I have to train them to be the best of the best
Like no bird ever was.
Can’t wait to try this on my mini brawler
Lol, i am watching this a year after it came out
I’m planning to train a piranha plant to be a god like being of pure chaos and destruction
Sorry but I already took the best piranha plant posistion
This is literally psychotic... I just play Pit and fly away from everyone else so I'm not the first person to die. My STRAT probably works 40% of the time.
Super helpful.
I tought my amiibo to only use the c stick
15:01 No, no he didn't, Peppy.
thanks this is good ivise sins im training my mario amiibo!
wonderful and informative video! loved the beginning talking about how the AI actually isn’t really AI. question ... do amiibo still learn from other opponents, even after turning off learning when fighting them?
If learn is off, they will retain the same playstyle *no matter what*
8:05- Is that Ridley a reference to the Hyperion Cantos?
Ganondorf, Bowser (Junior), and Sephiroth all seem like amiibos with amazing potential but were programmed very stupidly.
Bowser usually forgets that he has a hammer after using an up special and doesn't utilize his most powerful assets while ledge guarding.
Ganondorf struggles to be aggressive and likes up tilt way too much.
Sephrioth basically doesn't listen to me, I can hit him with up aerial legitimately hundreds of times and he still won't use it. I'll do down tilt into up aerial and all he will learn is down tilt. even if it can't learn combos it should know to attack me while I'm in air.
bonus thing about Sephiroth: his amiibo is like a spoiled child, I've never seen this before but his amiibo actually has that personality. If you don't let it hit you it will actually stop playing, seriously. If you go like 5 lives without letting it hit you it will become 100% passive and not attack at all. like its mad and he just refuses to play anymore.
and something I struggle with when training any amiibo is teaching it to not rabidly jump above me and do forward aerial. that method would fine if I was stupid enough to jump into their attack but I'm not. at least do neutral or down aerial. and even if I punish it by standing still and doing an up smash it doesn't learn.
basically what I learned is that some amiibo have terrible learning capabilities and need to experience a brain transplant from a smarter amiibo such as Luigi or Kirby.
flavortown
Indeed
Imma train it by raiding it wit lvl 9 cpus
Okay but what if you want to teach young link how to do double recovery?
me and my friend created a horrible link amiibo from sheer shananagans and counter training and it ended up with item auto grab and just pelting you with bombs constantly but not exploding them for some reason and randomly taunting inbetween moves. still bested like 4 minn min at once tho so ig that something
I have a Mii Gunner who I was trying to teach how to use charge blast. I want it to charge it up, and then use it right when it’s opponent doesn’t expect it to win the match. I also wanted to teach it that it could be hurt while charging it up, but when I charge it he waits politely to charge it up.
Charge up moves are something amiibo usually struggle wtih. you'll see this with the Samus's as well.
13:33
I think it's less taunting too much, and more taunting at the wrong times.
For the longest time I could not get my amiibo to taunt like- at all, and then I tried to make sure I did it after every kill and, then they started taunting more, but instead of doing it after every kill they would just do it whenever.
From my experience, Amiibos don’t recognize the actions after a Ko as a learning opportunity, so it’s best to teach them to do it after distancing moves, so they taunt just after pushing away the opponent. A good example is Capt. Falcon’s up B.
U have no idea how it works. If you’re not programming it there wouldn’t be combo strings. You only need 540 bytes to reprogram it, they’re percentages.
If you don’t know how to play, just throw your amiibo in with level 9 computers on that characters. And 7 of them, I did this then taught it combos at level 25 after watching people play him (DK)
What does it mean when my amiibo starts emitting aura?
MY YOSHI IS NOW GOD
My amibo is a champ now!
Train your amiibo up to level 28-32. Use the moves you think it needs to prioritize the most and don't forget to let it hit you with some of them.
Do NOT jump and do an aerial attack and do not go off stage to punish, instead stay on the ground and walk to the edge when you send it off. When YOU get hit in the air, that is when you need to use your aerials!
Once you get to level 28 or see that your amiibo is using what you want, pause the game, go to the camera option and the top left trigger button let's you forward the game frame by frame, however, you can still act!
Walk to your amiibo and parry every single attack repeatedly. Only after a ridiculous amount of parrying start to parry and then attack. Then turn learning off etc.
This is how I consistently make baller amiibo
As for if you want to add power or defense, make a single maxed out legendary spirit and only use that one spirit. Your amiibo should get the benefits while changing as little as possible.
ok but the entire point of my amiibo is to spam aerials like there's no tomorrow so this doesn't really work
Qhen should I feed my amibo spirits?
DR PEPPAH YEAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!
A fellow sophisticate, I see
I kind of want to get one or two amiibos to help me train my own ability to play.
NOW you tell me about bomb!?!??!?
15:40 kens face
My Greninja took literally all my other amiibo's on at want tome and almost won and there were 4 of them (with greninja being the 5th) (all amiibo's level 50)
something i disagree with is that after getting an amiibo to level 50 you can still fix its dumb habits and naughty behavior. at the level some things are so engraved into it that it basically needs to be reset, and if it fails to learn an important move at that level it is much harder to change at that point than to start again.
at level 50 it seems to prefer honing its play style and dodging capabilities than to really listen and start using a new attack.
although it does depend on the amiibo, some are dumber than others.
I have made a semi Giga Arial Bowser
dw I use tapjump too :D
So my link amiibo CAN'T learn bomb techniques, well shit. Good thing Tradition is more into arrows than bombs.
is no one gonna talk about the ken portrait at 15:34?
Wow my amiibo made it on the walk of shame with the Link bombs. Nice.
well what if i want my toon links gimmick to be bombs? I have every zelda amiibo and have been training them toon links "thing" i guess is bombs. link uses them well, and young does not use them.
Here's my idea, when training them, don't jump/dodge/taunt as much. The amiibo should see as that jumping is bad.
okay but getting a sick kill and taunting is awesome
Can amiibos learn from online arenas?
Good question. No they cannot. The reason they cannot is that when the screen ends you won't be asked to save the data anywhere on the amiibo.
I'm curious. Since Daisy is an echo fighter of Peach and they literally have the same move set and abilities, would you be able to train a Peach amiibo (Learning on) in a mirror match as Daisy? Or train a Daisy amiibo (Learning on) in a mirror match as Peach? Is this possible to pull off with echo fighters?
... good question. I'll be honest, I haven't tested that myself. My thought is probably NOT because of how it's likely programmed but I can't say for sure. Just a gut thing.
@@SpliceStream Cheers. I've wondered about this for the longest time, but Exion Vault and all other sites I've visited don't seem to have an answer for this.
Wait... at 1:47 your battling a link amiibo that i recognize... is that mine???
Quick question, can Amiibos do missions for you?
You coooooool
For anyone wanting to train a Mario amiibo: NEVER. Yes NEVER EVER use down air. If you use it like 5 times he will constantly spam it. I’ve trained 2 Mario amiibos, both have had a down air spam problem
I wanna train my Duck Hunt amiibo and I main Duck Hunt but Idk, he seems to not understand
I train Mario amiibo to spam nair and fair
I have a DK
can we get a list of all the sliders that we could potentially change
Basically everything but recovery
Can amiibos slingshot?
Wait I have a question-
If you do moves that the amiibo also has, but they don't hit the amiibo, does that influence them at all? Like- does JUST seeing you use those moves more often make them want to as well?
...Where did I go so wrong?
Hit them when they jump dodge or taunt
To train an amino do I put it against a level 9 cpu or do I fight it. Like if its lvl 9 cpu dislike if I. should train it
