Good info on how to take to pieces. My issues were largely solved by changing the washer. The biggest issue I had was getting the clip back on the hose. There is a little band on the brass bit....this is not where the clip goes. Basically the hose wouldn't push back all the way in properly but I eventually managed it after a lot of swearing. The clip goes behind the brass end of the hose.
Excellent video! It really helped me! I was about to give up until I found this tip! If you follow the instructions you will have a “brand new” Expresso machine. Mine was completely clogged by coffee residue. Thanks!
Thanks a million, Handy Coco!❤You are a life saver! My leaky machine works again ! I followed step by step and my husband was surprised that I could dismantle and assemble back all on my own.😊
Works! I took the added step of soaking the cylinder unit in the same anti-calcification solution that we run through the Nespresso machine every few months for 10 minutes before brushing. You're right that removing that last plastic cover on the noozle was very difficult. I used a small flat screwdriver to pry up the tab and simultaneously push forward on the cover.
Thank you for this excellent video. My mum had exactly the problem you described and her machine is out of warranty. I followed what you did and the problem has gone! Her machine is only 4 years old and we did not like the thought of having to replace it so soon. The only bits that made me nervous were reinstalling the ribbon connector (very fragile pins) and getting the water hose connected again (quite hard to push through to connect properly) but did both with some patience and all is good.
Thank you! Fixed for me! The comment below on getting off that nozzle was hard work!, (but accurate). I also managed to remove the front disk/grill plate the capsule pushes onto for a cleaning. Since our machine is second-hand from a relative, I wondered if a missing o-ring may have been the issue where the compartment closes onto the disk/grill plate. I couldn't see one in yours from pausing the video, so I assume there isn't one! We fixed our machine speedily, thanks to your video. Just need to be careful disconnecting the plug from the circuit board, as it is a socket, so as not to unknowingly pull the whole thing off the board. Thank you so much!
There isn't any O-ring to 'seal' the front edge of the capsule, it's simple pressure of the capsule rim pressing up against the outside of the grid. Any buildup of old coffee crud prevents it from seating in properly and allows coffee to 'spill' around the edges, plus the crud blocks the pin-prick holes the coffee is meant to flow through. Regular scrubbing with a toothbrush or similar and then multiple rinses will clean the grid and holes and avoid the problem :-)
This was very helpful!! It resolved our leaking coffee/water issue. Thank you for posting this video; it is concise and clear with good video quality. We struggled with a few steps, but in the end we did it!
P.S. We have a Lattissima Touch and nearly everything is identical except the brewing options; anything that matters for this particular repair is identical.
Great video. Ultimately a fail for me. Upon reassembly, power never came on again. Possibly damaged ribbon connection prongs.??? I had a lot of coffee grounds flushed out that probably did not allow for a good seal, and hence caused leak., in the pod area as addressed in the video. I would recommend watching video to identify part to clean, then try cleaning area without disassembling first and see if that works.
From what I've read and watched about the Lattissima +, damaging the connector is a fairly common issue when you remove the ribbon (if any solder got into the join when the board was manufactured, you'll damage it when the solder breaks). It seems that with these machines it's wisest to try and unblock the grid by cleaning the machine very thoroughly while it's complete (scrubbing down inside with a toothbrush or similar multiple times to soften and remove built up coffee residue, plus carefully scratching up inside the spout with a long needle) then rinse rinse rinse rinse rinse to see if it will unblock that way. If that all fails, then dismantling the machine is the next step, and you know if it won't restart afterwards it doesn't matter since it was well and truly done for anyway. I picked one of these up at a thrift store cheap; there was a LOT of crud built up, but an hour of cleaning, repeated scrubbing and endless rinsing (and debris flaking into the rinse water in each cup for 10+ rinses) and it's working like new again and thankfully I didn't need to dismantle it after all, but now I have this video saved for the future just in case :-)
Very good video. It enabled me to solve the leaking issue and to keep my coffee machine running. I also removed the defuser plate and cleaned it on both sides. The machine is working like new now. Thanks!
Deu certo??? Quero fazer na minha. Eu tinha desistido, mas depois desse vídeo meu mundo voltou a ser azul pois foi uma maquina muito cara e saiu de linha aqui no Brasil (provavelmente no mundo) hahhaaha
Thank you had one of these on the shelf for about a year because it leaked, just fixed it. I had the 550 model there is a small plastic bit under the on/off button that falls out when you take the top off don't forget to put it back in before you clip the top on or it does not turn on lol. I used a Water Flosser to fo round the inside has a fine high pressure water jet for flossing teeth but worked perfectly for this :).
Hi there, greetings from Brazil! Very useful video, congratulations! I did already this procedure, but the leaking still persists, do you think it's necessary to replace the extraction unit? I wouldn't like to put away my latissima, once it's in an excellent conditions. Tks in advance!
Hello there! I'm for South Africa. Thank you😁 sorry that it didn't work for you.. yes it was me I would definitely order another unit. Really hope you come right with your machine🙏
@NZHorseRescue I was thinking exactly that: it seems my Starbucks capsules aren't a good fit for the machine. Thanks for all your comments in this video. I have a second-hand 550 and I don't feel confident opening it to replace that part. I'll try the cleaning process and use different capsules.
Thanks for a great video, one thing is when removing the ribbon I neglected to open the small clips that holds it in place and the entire clip came out, I had to glue it back in, hopefully it will hold.
Hi Handy Coco. Comment from CapeTown. Thanks for posting the video as I have been having the same problem with my exact same machine. I have done all the cleaning but I'm having difficulty re-installing the water pipe. I am not able to push it in far enough. I can see the o-ring inside the unit but it looks like the end of the pipe has developed a bit of a flange, which prevents me from pushing it in all the way. I am tempted to file down the flange, but I thought I would check with you first. Much appreciated.
Howzit! Thanks for watching. I wouldn't file it down.. the first time I had to use the end of a small spoon to push it back all the way. It was a bit tough to get it back right. Also check it is aligned correctly before pushing it back. Hope that helps🙏💪
I used a rubber grip pad, like you might use to open a pickle jar, to firmly hold the water line while pushing it back in on reassemble. You have to push fairly hard but you will know when it pops in. Also, look closely where the cotter pin comes out of when taking apart. I had some doubts on exactly where to re-cotter pin.
4:11 I also had trouble getting it off and believed in a hidden nose holding it together and create planned obsolescence. But I was wrong! The two parts where glued together by the mud. I solved it by pushing the screw driver in on both sides in the following position: Go to 4:14, left of his right thumb. The little elevated plastic.
Hi, I have just followed this, very informative, however a small black pin with a spring on fell out of my brewing unit when I took it off, any idea where it goes? Many thanks
Ah no! We first thought it was the leaking from the bottom as well, but after months of research testing... i finally found the problem was from the main head l replaced in the video, my advice would be to test and make sure where the water is coming from? could be the seal by the pump as well? hope this helps🙏
Really? Thanks a lot. I will check. It's just that I changed the driping piece and now the machine wont start. I don't see any damage to the cable but I think the fault must lie there.@@handycoco8456
How did you manage to plug the tube back in so easily? I cannot push it back in and this cannot insert the retaining clip. It's the only step preventing me from completing the reassembly.
Question so just tore down my machine, I had no water dispensing, I tried to prime the pump didn't work. So I want to order flowmeter, pump and I have to order a control board.. a connector broke on the board side. I hooked the pump to 120V once removed and stuck the sypon hose in a cup of water... Nothing happened out of water I have no suction or pressure on either side. Does it seem like the correct diagnosis?
I have worked for many days to put the pin that holds the water tube back in. I can't get it to push all the way in. Any hints? I am ready to just crazy glue it back in.

Hope you can help me with mine. , the cappuccino and latte buttons don't light up when I attached the RCS the piece that attaches the machine doesn't seem to be damage and the decailing works just fine, so what could I do
I would replace the controller pcb board as well as the ribbon cable. It's located just behind the buttons.. it's not too hard to do. I hope that helps and works for you. Make sure it's the correct parts numbers ordered though.
I followed your explanations and cleaned the infuser part . But after puting everything back together now the machine leaks all the water and no coffe comes out (before I opened it only half of the water was leaking and i still had some coffe coming). Any idea what I could have done wrong? thanks
Ah no sorry to hear that! I would double check that the water tube is not damaged and inserted all the way in with the pin full inserted. have a look at 2:14
Good morning. What do you think could be the reason why my Nespresso Latissima 520 coffee machine does not retain my capsules? I have to manually hold them from the bottom to be able to squeeze the capsule. THANKS
Hello Its sounds like an issue with the Diffuser Piston (the same part that is causing the leak in the video) sounds like it not getting a good enough seal. maybe check there is nothing obstructing the diffuser, otherwise i would look to replace that part. hope it works out!🙏
It could be from the dirt build up from the uses over time that is not allowing the pods to be pierced properly... try give it a deep clean with a new toothbrush. hope this helps!
I have the same problem with my machine, changed the part (for 50€) but it doesn’t solved the problem.
