No Doubt, this may not be Pearls favorite adventure but she is ready to give it a good try. We just may need all the luck we can find to accomplish it. LOL
Bob, Didn't hear you say you had an air pump. The people who go trail riding deflate their tires. Also you might want to get with your local trail riding group and see if you can tag along. Good luck. I can't wait to see how much fun you can get into. Thanks.
HI Doug, yes we have tire deflators and inflators but like most of this new stuff, I haven't used much of it yet. I do plan to join the jeep club here, it said they have over a thousand members, so lots of great info available from those guys.
You KIDS! that is the biggest downsizing in camping history! I want to know how many times you were looking right into Pearls finger pointing at you during this adventure? What fun and memories your creating! Always an inspiration! Ken,Cathy And Lewis.
Thanks Patty, we sure hope it is as much fun as it sounds like for us. Thanks for watching and hopefully you will enjoy some of the Overlanding videos.
Hey Bob, Burlington Bill here. Rosie and I are boondocking out near the Imperial Dam for the winter. Miss talking with you in the foothills while on my morning ride. Looks like you discovered a new adventure! Happy camping.
I remember a coffee pot like that back in the 70's!! Tom to the rescue to fix that ladder thingie! Pearl really is the BEST (amongst many other reasons) for trying this out. More than I would try.
Howdy Joe, I think Pearl is starting to get excited about the tent camping and now she is watching youtube videos looking for some off road trips. I remember when you, Jeff and I were in that coffee shop trying to figure out boondocking. It all makes for great campfire stories.
We are super stoked for you guys. We build a camper on the back of our F150. We did a 30 day roadtrip in. We went from Florida to Massachusetts. It's super fun! Lou & Angie
We miss our Jeep Wrangler so much! We had to use our wench a couple of times - it was great fun getting off road and putting it to the test! Ya'll are pretty brave with the tent on top of the Jeep! Keep having fun! Love you guys! xo
Hi Laura, yes it opens a whole new world for us. We are really looking forward to some Jeep adventures and hopefully we don't need that winch too often but sure nice knowing it is there just in case.
We are simply changing our Toad vehicle, still using the Motorhome as our base camp while traveling but plan to get out and about with the jeep once we get the RV parked in a campsite.
Hi Bob! I always love seeing what your up to next. You’ve really outdid yourself this time.😂😂😂 Abby says she’s concerned about that ladder, she worries about that. I said you’ll have to be limited to one margarita 🤣🤣. My only recommendation would be to get a satellite phone so when your out where there’s no coverage on a cell phone you can still reach help if needed. I love your energy. You guys put us to shame. 😊
We are looking at potential communication options but no decision yet. The ladder doesn't seem to be much of an issue except I know I need to keep an eye on Pearl in case she gets dizzy but we are both conscious of that possibility. We are hopping for some fun adventures but time will tell (only ONE Margaretta, what the heck is wrong with you)
I am inspired as usual. You are as adventurous as myself, both more active than those 20 years younger. I luv your spirit and that spunky gal who hangs right with you. I think a Revel or Storyteller offroading vans are great for medium clearance vehicle travel and would be a lot more comfortable out there. But you need to tow it behind a 40' base camp, ah there in lies the compromise challenge. I'd say skip the Car Top tent and set up a mattress in the big tent you have. Then everything you do is at ground level, since you have the gear already. There is such a great overlanding community waiting for you and you will be big hits with them. One thing I don't like with many of the younger jeepers is they pick up and move every day trying to fit long distance trips in to long weekends. You'll find plenty the right group out there to join though. Keep on trucking!
Your vision is 20/20 and you are right on track. We are having a great time and hoping it gets even better (just hope the wind doesn't get out of hand)LOL
I’d recommend taking one of those Jeep courses that teaches off-road driving and recovery. It’d be very useful for u and a lot of fun. Some of them even have cabins to stay in while u take the weekend course. They’re offered all over the US
Don, you amaze me with you doubts (LOL) for a guy with a big trailer full of Motorcycles and Kayaks but no Car--- Better You than Me... LOL we all float our boat a little differently. Sounds like you are doing well in Florida good luck with them reservations and see ya in 2025
Hi Gwen, yes that is so true, we had a whole group of friends here with Jeeps last week but they are all gone now, that is the problem with RV friends they come and go so often BUT the good thing about RV friends is we all meet up again somewhere else down the road.
Hey guys! It's all part of the (new) adventure! Looks like you're figuring it out already. You probably just need to spend a lot more money then it will be fun, LOL !!! I'm really looking forward to future videos and your candid thoughts on overlanding. Above all, you two please stay safe and have fun !!!!!
Hi Jeff & Laurie, any progress on the Super C yet? I remember you letting me drive your Jeep back a couple of years ago and I guess I never got over it.
Currently we are thinking of selling the house and buying land for some future dwelling. Our first step will be to get a septic tank, water and electric so full hookups can be installed. After that, we'll live in the casita while we figure out what living structure we want (can afford, LOL). I think you guys will love the gladiator. Even if just a daily driver they are so enjoyable to have. We certainly miss our wrangler...@@JustPassingThru
Thanks so much for those thoughts and glad you are enjoying the Adventure. We know it will slow down and/or end in just a few short years so we are packing in as much as we can while we still can and want to.
Good Morning Bob and Pearl, this had me laughing. You can't beat a good management team, ROFL. I think I have Janie convinced to try truck camping. Did somebody say Mexican train dominoes, yes please. Flexibility is overrated, stay young.
Any thought of going all electric as far as your stove/cooking needs? Not sure what you are using for your portable power station, but if you ditch the propane stove and tank you would likely save space using a good hot plate or induction cooktop. A lot simpler to set up and break down camp and less flammables to haul around.
Great concept and worthy of checking it out, but we have so much to do and learn that I would guess we will stick with our propane cooktop. We have talked about adding the induction to the RV kitchen though.
I can't believe you two are climbing up and down that ladder to get to the sleeping area. An accident waiting to happen. No way I would do that. I don't think I would have done that when I was young, especially when the weather is bad. Good Luck on your ventures.
Best wishes on your new adventure. I can't say I'm jealous. Bouncing around while driving and tent camping is for the young folks. I couldn't do it anymore 😖. Class-A life for me😊
It appears you are in the Majority of our viewers, but we are hoping for a couple of seasons of Jeep and tent camping type adventures. Our Class A is still a big part of our travel though as too much bumping around isn't good for anyone. LOL
Looks like you have a great setup. I don't think anyone would like tent camping in the wind. Looking forward to your next adventure. Don & Tina. We are of to New Brighten State Beach next week.
Great job Bob. We're looking for our rooftop tent, thinking of doing the same. Maybe see you on the "Next Trail" lol .. ps water crossings .. might need to get a snorkel outfit on that gladiator.
Pearl would definitely have a hissy fit if I try a water crossing that covers my tires up 🙂 LOL but if we like the off roading my guess is a snorkel is not out of the question.
Being in Yuma a good trial run might be Swansea Ghost Town, SE of Parker. It is a BLM managed historical site with defined campsites (tables, fire pits only). The road in is a mix of old pavement, 15'ish miles of seldom graded gravel road, and about 2 miles of rough dirt road. Not extreme dirt road conditions but not the type of road to see large trailer, Class-C, or Class-A traffic. Also, Swansea gets enough day visitor traffic that a solo trip is very low risk . . . . you won't be 100% alone until after dark . . .
We're both old and very close to broke but what the heck, as long as we feel good we hope to continue with getting out and about even if it involves a ladder and a tent. LOL take care
You guys are so cute! Like I've said before. It'll be fun to see the next few videos as you at least give it a try, no matter the final outcome. Jayman...
The Monaco is still in the equation as "Base Camp" but the Jeep opens up a few more doors and we are anxious to open them. Just hope one doesn't slam in my face. LOL
Looking good. We also bought a Gladiator last year - it is our fourth Jeep. It also serves as the Toad behind our new Super C. We like to get off the beaten path - especially in Utah. Not sure about the tent setup though - left that behind in my 20’s. We also hope to do Alaska in 2025 or 26. Maybe we will see you on the road. Safe Travels and Adventuring!!
One tip is to always go over landing with others. We are no experts either, but the group trips are fun - and we also learn a lot that way!! I am concerned about that ladder for you!! Safe Travels!!
If you are stuck and there is nothing to tie the winch to, is there a stack or something you can drive into the ground? I wish Pearl would do some cooking videos. I miss your cost of living videos.
This is awesome and we are recently retired and looking at doing the same. We have a small toy hauler with a big truck to pull it and have been on many trips with it, but recently purchased a Bronco and looking at the rooftop tents to do exactly what you’re doing. What model is your tent? I think I’ve looked at millions of them and can’t decide which one. I’ll be watching for more videos of your adventures!
Hi Stacey, congratulations on the Bronco and your new style of adventures. We purchased the Ikamper 3.0 mini for our rooftop tent. It cost more than we had planned, but due to Pearl's hesitation on going back to tent camping I wanted to try and get the best one we could in hopes she feels comfortable sleeping in it. So far we are liking it but have only spent a couple of nights sleeping in the tent so far. Good Luck with putting together your set up.
Make sure to take that Gladiator out on some tougher roads and learn what it will and won’t do. You won’t want to come across something while fully loaded and not know for sure if it is doable. I even know someone that would be willing to take you out and help you teach that Jeep how to behave. 😁
Hi Ted, that would be exciting to go out and learn from someone like you just how what we might be able to do (and not do) with the Gladiator. We just joined the Jeep club here in Yuma and are doing a clean up in the desert somewhere this Saturday, then a group ride out somewhere on Sunday but it is a very easy ride I think so other than meeting folks and having fun probably won't learn a lot. BUT I am guessing a day in the desert with you would be very educational, let me know just when you might have time for this outing 🙂 as im sure I am not busy that day.
We haven't aired the tires down yet but I am sure that is in the future. We have one of the Vaiair compressors in the motorhome and it fits well in our recovery kit, so we will be ready when the time comes
Wish you had taken more time to seek input, as you showed us the Jeep and informed us of your investment in 'overlanding' equipment in the same (earlier) video before anyone could comment on the adventure plan. Using the Class-A as a base camp and taking daily Jeep Trips in surrounding lands is a far more comfortable approach and with good base camp location planning you can see/experience many wonderful isolated places. I do something similar with a 4x4 Tow Vehicle and small self-contained trailer . . . no ladders to climb and a warm bathroom even in the middle of the night . . . Beyond the tent/ladder/bathroom limitations once the overlanding camp site is “set-up” you're limited to walking or bicycles to explode - - - until the next day (and after a couple of hours re-packing the truck). That said, do wish you both success and safe travels.
Thanks for the positive comment and we look forward to doing something similar with using the RV as base camp and taking daily or multi-day trips with the jeep. Opens up a whole new adventure for us.
Bugs and mosquito's are always a pain when they are around but we will just have to deal with it. We are talking about options for communications but haven't made any decisions yet but definitely on the list, thanks for the suggestions
Ok you two, just watched your true confessions of class A rV-ing downsizing to let’s get stuck in a creek/river bed where as Pearl just said….. see you at the next exit….. well folks there ain’t No exit in the Arizona desert. 🤪 …..🤷
You make a good point, but we are hoping to have a few fun adventures before we give up on the tent camping but the strong friends are always nice to have even if it is just to play some Mexican Train and remember the good old days. LOL
WTF 🤬 we’re you thinking 🧐 A w/b View is a 1000 times better than a TENT 🤪🤪. Stop before the guys in white coats come to take to a rest home … P-lease !
We all will live the overlander life vicariously through you two. Be sure to keep the wheels rolling, both to and from your wilderness campsites.
Thanks Jim, we're looking forward to visiting some great locations especially once we get to the Pacific Northwest this summer.
I have a feeling Pearl is doing this to please Bob. And thats very sweet of her to love her man that much. Good luck guys!
No Doubt, this may not be Pearls favorite adventure but she is ready to give it a good try. We just may need all the luck we can find to accomplish it. LOL

Oh wow! Big adventure coming our way for 2024! So looking forward to these overlanding videos! Thank you for taking us along.
Thanks Patty, we sure hope it is as much fun as it sounds like for us. Thanks for watching and hopefully you will enjoy some of the Overlanding videos.
I bought an I phone 14 for this reason. It has an sos feature that works off the satalites so you can always get help.
Thanks for the info, we are looking into our communication equipment and the IPHONE 14 sound like a nice addition and I plan to check into it.
You two are riot!!!!😂 I was laughing so hard I was crying!
You got that right … reminds me of Abbet / Lou Costello 😂😂😂
Hey Bob, Burlington Bill here. Rosie and I are boondocking out near the Imperial Dam for the winter. Miss talking with you in the foothills while on my morning ride. Looks like you discovered a new adventure! Happy camping.
Good morning Bob and Pearl, looks like fun but reminds me of Tent camping on Lake mead... Remember Bears can climb ladders...lol
tent camping at lake Mead? That does sound like a tough gig especially in the summer. LOL
@JustPassingThru It was, with boats and loading up. Learned how to use Dry Ice! In 120 degrees, of course it was the best of times! LoL
@@dougd9944 10-4 on "The Best Of Times" that would have been a ton of fun.
No thank you -I will never tire of my comfortable motorhome-I will take the jeep on day trips into the hinterlands 😎⭐️🚌🇺🇸

I think Clint Eastwood said it best "Don't let the Old Man In" (or something similar to that) we are all still young as long as we keep doing
How many retired people does it take to put a tent together? LOL. You did great Pearl.
As long as we have a little supervision us retired folks can handle just about anything as long as there is a cocktail hour involved.

Hey Guys, Congratulations on the Anniversary 🙂
If you are stuck and there is nothing to tie the winch to, is there a stack or something you can drive into the ground? I wish Pearl would do some cooking videos. I miss your cost of living videos.
I have thought about getting a solid steel pipe to drive into the ground like you mentioned as there are not a lot of trees around us here in Arizona.
This is awesome and we are recently retired and looking at doing the same. We are hoping to have several fun adventures with the tent, it is all part of the adventure 🙂
I do something similar with a 4x4 Tow Vehicle and small self-contained trailer . . . no ladders to climb and a warm bathroom even in the middle of the night . . .

Spot on! Day trips with a nice restaurant dinner every night. Your jeep will perform much better without all of the extra weight.
Thanks for the positive comment and we look forward to doing something similar with using the RV as base camp and taking daily or multi-day trips with the jeep. Opens up a whole new adventure for us.
