Shelee Art Blooms Technique Combining US & Aussie Floetrols For Cell Activator / Acrylic Pour Painting Fluid Pour / Fluid Art / Sheleeartstyle / Abstract Art

I have learned everything about this technique by studying your videos. What started out as a curiosity-fueled, prepared-to-fail experiment has rapidly become a passion-filled hobby fo me... All thanks to stumbling upon your video journal here! I want to thank you so much for reminding me how important it is to feed my soul. You are a most excellent teacher and I have turned to your videos for just about every question I have found myself asking on this journey.
Please be well and Thanks again!
Oh wow Jerome you are so very welcome, I’m so happy I’ve been able to help you with your paint journey 🤗, it definitely does feed the souls doesn’t it 🌺💜
I’m so HAPPY your moving upstairs to a larger area. The Chicago kid is movin on up. Be getting piece of the pie. 🐟👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💕❤️🚙
I have to trade a lot of counter space (downstairs) for more moveable space and natural light (upstairs) but I’ll get used to it. Just about done and ready to paint in it 🤗💜🌺
@@ThePaintedDreamer Lee can always build a perfect counter for you that folds up or down when not in use. Good idea coming from the ol’ bat in the hat 🕊❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🚙
O.M.G….I absolutely love, love your work!! You’re absolutely incredible, I love your work and I especially love your laugh, please keep sharing and keep smiling
🤗 Thank you so much Gina, I really appreciate that 🤗 I’m so glad you enjoy my work 💜💜💜
OMG I literally thought I had watched all your mixing video..And just asked about this. not ONLY are you a tireless teacher you have the patience of a saint! I'm so SORRY. these videos are MUST watch stuff so when people ask me where to learn i write PAINTED DREAMER. every time. hope they leave alone more than I have.😮
The lacing looks like layers. Those embellishments on the bloom are amazing. Beautiful,
Holy cow!! Those cells and the veining in the bloom!…just WOW!!
I can not wait to try this CA. Thank you so much for all of your experiments and creativity.
You’re welcome 🤗 I’m glad I’ve been able to help, thank you so much! 🥰🌺
The cells and lacing are gorgeous. Pretty awesome that you CAN mix US and AU floetrol. Woo hoo 🎉
It is awesome isn’t it! I don’t know why I waited so long to try, it definitely gives great results AND extends the magic sauce! 😃💜
Hi Jodie, both pieces are absolutely stunning. What a great experiment, the results are amazing. This will save so many people around the world financially, by combining the two floetrol's together. Thank you so much for sharing your time, talent, and your creativity with us. As always my dear friend looking forward to your next video, kind regards Pamela 😘😘❤❤🌺🌺
Hi Pamela 😃👋🏻 so glad you liked it, I think it’ll totally help extend the magic sauce for sure! Thank you so much my friend! 💜💜💜
You're very welcome Jodie, yes I definitely agree with you. Stay safe, and have a beautiful day my friend 😘😘😘❤❤❤
I second Beth's comment! I learn so much from your trials and am happy to know I can stretch my Aussie Floetrol. You are a favorite for sure!
Aww thank you so much, I really appreciate that 🤗💜🤗💜
Ok, now I am on the right video, I went to 143 first Haha! The colour in this one are just fabulous, I love the MM Burnt orange. Thanks also for the tip using 1/2 reg. floetrol and Aussie floetrol! That's what brought me here!!
I shoot did I type the number wrong haha! Sorry! I’m glad it helped, it definitely works for extending your Aussie floetrol out 🤗
@@ThePaintedDreamer No haha, I got it wrong!
Jeez your colors are so exceptional. Sigh.
🤗 Thank you so much Scott!!
Thank you for sharing🎉
Thanks Jodie! You're awesome! Both are gorgeous, but totally digging the swipe!!! 🆒🆒🆒👍👍👍👍😁😁😁
You’re welcome Jordan, thanks so much! 🤗💜
I like the way it turned out. Nice colors and a nice negative space. Sometimes it’s better than covering the whole canvas. Very pretty!
I agree Sandy, there’s something to be said about some negative space 😃🤗💜💜
Hi Jodie, looks like I'm 3 months late seeing this one. I'm blown away by the first one because of the lace cell action with all the veining which created a shimmering square right in the middle of the painting. I mean you put the paint on in a circle manner and wowzer it came out a square. I 💘 💘 love love it.
The 2nd one - a swipe is cool as well. I liked your color choice on both of these alot.
Thanks for experimenting with both Flotrols. I think your Test was a Winner indeed. Yes let's see how far you can push it and what cool tests tiles you might get that blows your mind even if it falls apart something unexpected might pop out.
Hi Lucy 🤗 I’m so glad you enjoyed this one, this was a fun test but I think also an important one, I’m still definitely going to push the boundary with it for ratios between Aussie & US floetrols. It’d be awesome if you could use mostly US and just a little Aussie 😃😃😃
Wow! Wow! The 2nd one was beautiful too!! Love them❤️💕
Awesome, I’m glad you liked it, that one was being a bit fussy but that corner still has me like 😀, thanks so much Robin! 💜💜
Spectacular Jodi! And you could hear how excited and amazed you were with the results. I love your enthusiasm and every time, seriously EVERY TIME I watch a video of yours, no matter how low or anxious I feel with life and other 💩 I get inspired by that enthusiasm and off I trot to my art room to play. You have special powers Jodi and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels it!!
And BTW you and I both know you are definitely going to experiment with 1 part Aussie Floetrol to 3 parts US😂🤣 no doubt in my mind. Imagine being able to extend the magic sauce 3 fold?!!! LOVE both pieces! As always hugs Deb
Aww thank you so much Debbie, I’m so glad I can inspire, truly! That’s so funny, you know I’m going to test that and push it to see how little magic sauce you can get away with and still get great results. It’s a game changer! Hugs and love to you my friend hope you are well! 💜💜💜
Wow! They turned out stunning! I, too, love the different color veins! Thanks for sharing!
You’re very welcome Lindsey, I’m so glad you liked them! Thank you 🤗💜💜
Loved the second piece!!!! Both are beautiful but second is stunning
Oh I’m so glad you liked the swipe, that one was so fussy haha! But I just loved the colors. Thank you so much Carolina! 💜🤗
This is wonderful news for all of us!! You are my favorite paint pouring scientist, and as I always say, the reason I can bloom today ❤️. Can’t wait to try this!!!
Aww thank you so much Beth! I’m so glad I had a hand in helping you to bloom 🤗. Totally give this a go, it’s a game changer. 😃💜💜

@@ThePaintedDreamer Whoohooo...yaaay 👍💜👍
Lovely, of course. I like the idea of mixing the floetrol types. I find the Australian floetrol is so much thinner that the US one. And of course it does save $$$$$$
Thank you Marlynda! The Aussie stuff is definitely thinner but mixing the two will certainly save money in the long run and he’ll in extending the liquid gold 😃🤗💜
YOU ROCK, JODIE! this is, by far, my favorite channel on all of YT! you are an amazing teacher. i am still very, very early in my pouring journey and working my way through all of your previous videos, but when i have a question, i ask myself: "what would jodie do? see if she has a video on it." thank you for all you do for us!
Aww thank you so much Debb I truly appreciate that! And you’re very welcome, it’s my pleasure to help! 💜💜💜

I have used a combination of the two floetrols with great success!! I have not noticed that it stops working after a while! I love the bloom that you did!!
Oh awesome I’m glad to hear it Debrann! I usually like to use everything until it’s gone, especially anything with the Aussie floetrol in it so I’m glad to hear it doesn’t stop working. 😃 Thanks so much! 💜

What a great idea. You beat me too it. I thought of the same thing. It sounds logical and should work and it totally did. I can’t wait to try it soon. There both pretty.
Totally give it a go Carole, it works great I think you’ll like it! 😃🤗💜
I had been wanting to try this. Thanks so much!!!!
You’re welcome Julie, totally give it a go! 😃💜😃
Thank you for the experiment. I haven’t bought Aussie Floetrol yet because of the cost but knowing I can extend it encourages me to give it a try.
You can definitely extend it so it makes it more worthwhile now 🤗 you’re very welcome Paula! 💜💜
Both turned out pretty darn cool. The first one, I loved the color change in the middle that went from purple to the turquoise. The swipe was my favorite. Lovin the corner as well. I’m thinking the combo is a keeper!!! Now you are going to have to try it in black.
Thanks you my dear! That’s my favorite part too on the bloom 😃 I think it’ll work great with the black as black tends to react better with the US floetrol overall, so I’ll definitely be trying that too 🤗💜🤗💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer the black with the hot cinnamon 🤤 is going to be like, shhhhh, you had me at hello, you had me at hello.
@@kisheacox8147 I've got those two set aside while I figure out the other colors I want with it (lime green, purple ....) ... I'll definitely be doing it in the near future :D
@@ThePaintedDreamer set aside?! Nobody puts hot cinnamon in the corner
@@kisheacox8147 🤣🤣🤣 I assure you it’s not in the corner 🤣🤣🤣😉💜💜
I am so jealous I wish I could do this Of course I haven't yet tried. I'm just watching and learning right now. And if I could do what you have done I would be totally satisfied. I would be very happy.
You can do it, it can be a bit of a challenge at first but with time and practice it’s very rewarding and I’ve been completely obsessed with this technique for over two years now 😃😃💜💜😃😃
Thank you so much for doing this experiment. Aussie Flo is so expensive and I use it exclusively for my cell activator. Mixing it with US Flo may allow for use in other techniques as well. I will be doing some experimenting with that as well.
You’re welcome Kim, it can definitely extend the life of your Aussie floetrol for sure but lately I’ve been playing around with the US floetrol and it has done some really neat things as well. Have fun with your experiments! 💜💜
Cells, cells, cells, all the way from side to side and top to bottom.
The cells are plentiful with this CA combo for sure! 😃💜
Ohmigosh….that is beautiful!! I guess we will have to learn to use American Floetrol, as the Australian is being discontinued. Hope they come up with a new version. I love this one - I was leery of the red, but not is beautiful!
Thanks so much Kathy! Where did you hear the Australian is being discontinued for the US? I know it’s being discontinued in the EU due to import restrictions but I haven’t heard anything for the US. 🤗💜🤗
@@Kathy-Carr No that’s ok I just want to make sure you didn’t hear anything different. But yea they are no longer allowing importing of the Australian floetrol into the EU due to an ingredient it carries but it’s for the EU only not here in the US. We can still import it here 😃. If that ever changes for us I will be going on a huge spending spree of importing haha!
@@ThePaintedDreamer WHEW! I am so sorry for the confusion. I will remove previous remarks to avoid more. Thank you, Jodie.
Great to know! Thanks
You’re welcome Rebecca! 💜
I really love both of these but the swipe is a great surprise. It’s like the mountains (except in technicolor) how close up they are bright and in focus and the background more muted, I really absolutely loved it, because was more unexpected and a great save!
This is good to know they can be mixed because I have both and already running out of the Aussie. Still very much a beginner and not getting my cells right. :( Still trying though and I still love the practice ones we are doing, it’s all in fun. I keep checking your Etsy shop from time to time for these pieces…. I’ll be excited to finally snatch one!!!!
Thank you so much Jennifer! 😃 You can totally mix the too, it’ll help lengthen the life of your Aussie floetrol for sure!
If you ever see a piece from a video and just love it you can always email me to reserve it. A lot of these pieces I do on RUclips get sold before they hit my Etsy shop so just keep that in mind if you are ever looking for something specific 🤗💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer good to know!!!! I didn’t know we could do that! Thank you!
Brilliant work! I love both. So glad I'm seeing more autumn colors!❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much Sheila! 💜💜💜
I was thinking of this just yesterday! Great minds… 😉 going to try it today, hopefully I’ll get an outcome half as cool as yours 🤞🏼 thank you!
Oh awesome Nan! Totally give it a go, if you try it with black before I do let me know how it goes for you 😃🤗💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer I haven’t tried this one yet but I did do 3 tests - Blooms with 6:1 black Aussie, 6:1 USA and one of your recipes with the glue, Minwax and Amsterdam ink. Of the 3 the Aussie was the one I wasn’t impressed with! Maybe 6:1 is too much. I loved the cells using your recipe and the US floetrol. I’ll try a couple of swipes tomorrow and use an Aussie/USA mix.
@@nanceo6351 The Aussie floetrol is the magic sauce and one you don't need that high of a ratio for, I like to mix it 4:1 and some others like to mix it 3:1 so maybe that will work better for you. :)
@@ThePaintedDreamer thank you. 🥰
Looks great, I may have to experiment with this, as I got a runny batch of Aussie Floetrol. ;)
Totally give it a go, it may help your runny floetrol! Also if you have the Liquitex matte gel add a little of that to your mixed up Aussie CA to help thicken it up. I hear that stuff works well for the runny batches 💜💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer Cool thanks for the tip, I have some of the Liquitex but I think its heavy gloss gel lol!
These turned out beautifully! Another awesome experiment! I'm glad to have the option to extend the Australian Floetrol. (Still waiting for Fluid Art Co to get it back in stock.)
Thank you so much Shellie! It’s definitely a great way to extend the magic sauce 😃. I heard the fluid art company will be back in stock soon. Their next shipment cleared customs today so probably a week or so 💜
Jodi Blown away by that first one. Knocks my socks off to see all of those colors and the cells that happened so beautifully.
Question: I remember you talking about this on one of your videos but I don’t know which one. It was something to do with how the White paint comes through when you are modifying anything on the painting. I am definitely having a problem with this and wonder if you could tell me the solution or direct me to the video where you talked about this. It’s so wonderful to see how people appreciate your videos and how you’ve helped them. You’ve certainly helped me. You are absolutely my go to person.
I’m so glad I’ve been able to help you Barbara 🤗 thank you so much! To answer your question, usually the pillow will come through if I’m modifying by the way I’m dragging my skewer through, also sometimes air bubbles will pop with the white pillow and I’ll have to poke it down with the skewer or toothpick. Other times the pillow shows through for me when I blow too hard in a certain area and some of the pillow cells come up, that there really is no remedy besides minding how you are blowing which if you’re anything like me isn’t the same every time haha! Does this help answer your question? 🤗💜
Yes, I'll try to be a bit more mindful of dragging my skewer through it.........so much with this technique to learn AND remember for me at least. Thanks for the reply
@@barbarahastings6285 It's true, there is a lot to remember and some things sort of click as you progress at least that's how it was for me but the more you do it, the easier it gets and a lot of these things will just become second nature :) Have fun with it!
😍🤩😻🙀😻😍🤩
🤗🌺🤗🌺💜
That's a different swipe technique than I'm used to seeing. It's intriguing and I'd like to try it but I feel like I wouldn't be coordinated enough to pull it off without somehow spilling and making a mess of stuff lol
It does take some practice but it’s well worth it, just take any necessary precautions for any messes as fluid Art in general can get pretty messy at times! Have fun! 🤗🌺
You rock, Jodie! Thank you for testing this out and for showing us the results! It is a question that had never occurred to me but now it opens up lots of options and can definitely allow the AU Floetrol to last longer!! You're the BEST! One additional question for you: Do you typically finish your paintings with varnish or resin? If varnish, what brand do you use? Same question for resin - if resin, what brand do you use? Thanks in advance!!
You’re welcome Kimberly! It’ll definitely last longer now, the magic sauce 😃. I do finish my paintings with either varnish or resin depending on the piece. For Varnish I use Liquitex professional and then for resin my go to was Counter Culture DIY but lately I’ve switched over to KS Resin as it can be used at a higher temp and it was so hot in my studio I needed to find an additional one to use. I’ve also used Stone Coat and that’s a great one too. Really just depends on your environment you’ll be resining in. I would take a look at each one and their curing temps and decide what will work best for you 🤗💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer Thanks so much, Jodie! I've been using KS Resin and I haven't had any problems, but I know a lot of people swear by the Stone Coat, so I've been tempted to try it. Have you ever used Brite Tone for the varnish? It gives a nice, glossy finish. I haven't tried the Liquitex Professional yet, I don't think, so thank you for that option! I appreciate your info!!
@@kimberlyaltman5535 You're welcome! Stone Coat is pretty nice too but it also depends what you are using the resin for. For art on the wall really most resins work well but if you are doing coasters and things heat resistant, Stone Coat worked really well for this, the countertop resin is what I used to use. I've tried the Brite Tone and just couldn't get it to work properly for me so I gave up on that one. I have a method I use with the Liquitex where I mix it 50/50 with water and then wipe it on with a microfiber cloth. Using their High Gloss varnish and putting a few coats on can get pretty glossy. I have a video on it if you want to get a visual, number 24. I'm too heavy handed to use a brush so this one works well for me :)
@@ThePaintedDreamer Thanks so much, Jodie. I will watch your video #24 - I'm sure it will be quite useful. Also, thanks for the distinction of how/when to use the various resins. Now I can see the merit of having both Stone Coat (for coasters) and KS Resin (for wall art) on hand! I appreciate your taking the time to walk me through this!
Maybe this we’ll help with thin Aussie floetrol. Thank you I’m going to try it.
You’re very welcome! Also what helps if you got the thinner batch of the Aussie floetrol is Liquitex matte gel, putting a little into your mixed up CA will help with it 🤗💜
Love your test pieces. I think you can get away with at last two to 3 months. I tried this with more like 1/3 the amount of Aussie floetrol (I use 3:1 ratio rather than 4:1) and it still seems to work okay at probably two months on. I made just the white though so I don't use it as often.
Thanks so much Jamie 🤗. Oh good to know about how long it can last. I am going to try pushing the ratios a bit myself to see the breaking point 😃💜
It is terribly frustrating to NOT find similar functions in the "base" colours over here in Sweden( the pillowpaints, various varnishes etc.) There are so many more variations and functionality in the various base paints over there. I am pursuing various PVC glue bases and do have Owatrol/Floetrol available (DEAD expensive!) along with a variety of acrylics, neat pigments, mica etc. But trying any of this bloom stuff? HA - I can dream on for a good whole yet! But I will keep looking and pondering alternatives.
High note finish: Daym you do some glorious stuff....
I’m so sorry it’s difficult for you to find available bloom products where you are 😕. When I first took the course when it first came out there was no known products for us here in the US. I had to do a lot of testing to figure out everything you see me using so I totally get your frustration 💜💜
This is encouraging to see the two CAs mixed. I'm loving the 'not all white' forming the cells but if we did want to thicken it a bit.....which might you increase.....the American or Aussie? Curious. Complete success in any case! TY
It worked really well doing half and half Carol almost like the US floetrol wasn’t there! 😃 If you want to thicken your CA mix I would add more paint 🤗💜
Absolutely love your work! Trying to learn myself & I have tons of questions!! One being, what did you use for the clock in the back?
Thank you so much! That clock in the background was a test I did on a 12” vinyl record, I resined it but when I drilled the whole for the clock mechanics I messed up and it cracked. You can’t see it from afar so I kept it for myself 😃🤗💜
The first one the center of the bloom is a square! Don’t see that very often.
Oh my gosh it totally does look like a square in the center 😃🤗💜
Fantastic! Thank you Jodie
Quick request. Could you please include the Numbers of the paints you recommend. I’m so confused and the people at the suggested paint stores are also confused.
Also, all the pillows I’ve tried craze the CA. any suggestions for all dyslectic like me ✨🙏✨
Thanks so much Sonja! I’m not sure I understand what you mean by paint numbers. Everything I use is at the beginning of each of my videos in pictures so you can see exactly what it is. For the pillow I’ve always used the Glidden Premium either satin or eggshell, again pictures are at the beginning of the video for reference. I’ve never had crazing with the pillows. Cracking or crazing can also happen if too much paint is left on the surface or the top layer is drying faster than the layers of paint below it on your piece. Air movement in your drying area can cause the top layer to dry faster. Hope this helps 💜
Hi Jodie. Wondering if you have tried the Valspar ultra high gloss base c with Josonja in place of the triple thick poly?
Hi Tricia 😃👋🏻 I have actually tried it with the jo sonja and wasn’t happy with how the cells were sliding around on me so I settled on the Varathane triple thick as it gave me exactly the cells I was looking for. That’s not to say you can’t use the jo sonja with it, it may work just fine for you so if that’s what you have totally give it a go 🤗💜
Fantastico.scusa l'attivatore cellulare è il floetron?
Yes the cell activator is the Australian floetrol and acrylic paint mixed 4:1
Forgive me for saying so, but the turquoise and orange combination in the bloom is like sex for my eyes. Wow. Both are stunning.
I thought something similar so don’t worry about it! Haha! I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees it 😃, thanks so much Michael!
@@ThePaintedDreamer Phew! Don't want to be offensive, but also want to speak the truth! I want to see more of that turquoise/orange and purple/orange combo. Straight up dope, yo.😆
@@DoctorHayduke one of my most favorite color combos that I bring back now and again is orange, blue, purple. I like to give various spins on it with different types of paint or brands and these here will definitely be added to that mix fo sho! 😃😃
@@DoctorHayduke BTW I saw your comment before you deleted it ahem relating to mushrooms ... I get emails of all comments ... heheheheeee! :D
@@ThePaintedDreamer You should look up suillus mushrooms...they have a much different gill structure, very similar to your cells. AND, your paintings extremely psychedelic, and I enjoy them as such😉
