Yup, that's what I though too. There are barbers that are good at cutting but shaping up a beard is a different game. I learned to shape mine from my barber who actually has a great beard and knows how to shape it up.

Nope, for short stubble like this it’s perfect. The line would need to be lower for heavy stubble/short beards.
If you not fat then the line don't need to be low that's for hiding double chins and the extra fat there on fat dudes

Somewhat depends on your beard thickness/fullness. Start with a even 5 or 4. Then work your way down half a number till you get your desired length.
