When I saw the US Initial D commercial for the GR86 it felt like it was incomplete, everything happens so fast, and it's so short and even split up in 3 parts that you just don't really feel the emotion, but THIS is how it should've been from the start! I take slight issue with this commercial, I love it of course, its amazing in its animation, camera, and shots. but in the end, the GR86 is a car of higher potential than the original 86, and bunta is more skilled in the first place, so it doesn't look as good as if it were, say, wataru driving the GR86

But this maybe prove that if they will make the new episode of Legend movie bunta will have GR86 instead of Subaru Impreza. This is a commercial. So Bunta having only Toyotas makes sense. If Takumi had the GR86 and given the same upgrades as the hero AE86, with a racing spec engine, light weight materials, and racing tires, he’d be untouchable in both uphill and downhill. Canonically. Takumi drives around the AE86 for fun (anime) let’s it sit in an inoperable state (anime) or scrapped it (manga). Having only the WRX his Project D mechanics asked if he could beat Keisuke with his FD3S RX7. Drunk Takumi replied it wouldn’t be fair to Keisuke.
