I can agree with you. That man was tough but also did impart his driving tchniques with Takumi in the end. Maybe they nly chose shinji only because he is also young and drives an 86 like Takumi.
I think this race was just meant to further develop Takumi both as a character and as a racer. The outcome of the race gives an insight in his inner ''battle'' against experienced drivers, like his father, and how he could try to be faster than them, to which he finds a solution later on
Well in some way I agreed. But, the story would be too typical for the ending. That why maybe the author decided to make a twist out of it. Making shinji as takumi opponents kinda like what takumi started back then one year ago letting us the viewers see takumi battles not always easy like it seems and adding more varieties in it. Genius and mysterious driver(shinji)vs Genius and experienced driver. Shinji himself actually level quite high. In fact better than how takumi started a year ago. Imagine if that beginner takumi go and race with shinji. Do you takumi will win?. The engine blowout for takumi ae86 is kinda like the car being many journeys just like tsuchiya ae86 in hotversion too. Tsuchiya ae86 had been rebuild too. The best part is the author also go to the point of putting another ae86 for shinji which makes an epic ending.
@@burnzy3210 That too. Races didn't feel like they had anything great about them. Writing sacrificed the individual races for the final races, which unfortunately, are let downs.
I totally agree. If The God Hand was young, I don't think Takumi have a chance to win. You can say that victory was about skills and some crazy luck, that's all.
This race would've been a lot better if takumis suspension didn't break and be just one due to having better endurance. Having him win immediately after all chances of winning being removed makes it feel like pure plot armour even though someone significantly older than you having these types of issues before you do is completely realistic and feasible.
this. we got hints at God hand's endurance being awful through out the whole expedition, it would have been amazing if it ended similarly to God foot's race, with god hand just being at his limit and slowing down. Breaking takumi's suspension made no sense plot wise.
5:34 one of the craziest overtakes of all time. The fact that God Hand lost this race the way that he did still pisses me off till this day. We should've gotten him vs Bunta in the STI
It’s all part of his technique. Joshima uses different lines to a. preserve tires and b. to throw people off on which line to use. This results in Takumi prematurely wearing down his tires.
Worth pointing out that even tho his lines were different, his times were consistent, takumi's were getting all over the place because that's how he usually keeps up the pace
One thing I noticed from 4 stage compared to 5th stage don't get me wrong the 86 sounds the same in 5th stage but I noticed some of the 86 sounds from 4th stage got cut especially when it's revving they kind of cut back on that
Can I upload a video of this but with eurobeat on top of it, I don't know if it would get blocked or not, but I know the effort that was put into editing the original so I thought it would be good to ask.

Thanks for the edit. :) Makes the battle more enjoyable to watch. I still find the ending funny especially without the dialogue. xD

One of the best races of the series, but a shame that the ending was complete bs.

3:54 anyone here could explain what joshima did? It hard for me to understand it bec the filter...
It's from takumi's perspective, where he realizes that Joshima's line is different each run.
It’s all part of his technique. Joshima uses different lines to a. preserve tires and b. to throw people off on which line to use. This results in Takumi prematurely wearing down his tires.
different lines, same exit speed, first line faster entry, second one slow entry, is hard to make it right in real life but is possible
