Fun fact: there was a planned scene in AvP where Predator gives the Alien backshots. While it tested well with audiences, it was removed in the theatrical cut due to "dragging the pace of the movie too much" and "there is no feasible way we can get this past MPA without compromising the PG-13 rating and we spent all the bribe money on trying to take down Limewire". This deleted scene served as the basis for the design of the AvP Pachinko Machine.
I used to live in Japan and pachinko parlors were just crazy lol. The fact that you would take your “winning” Next Door to skirt the gambling laws and trade it in for an actual prize was always nuts to me.
They are also unbelievably loud and are displacing a lot of businesses. You see people (especially old people) spending ALL DAY in those parlors, presumably hoping they'll get rich (actually it's what keeps them poor). It's a massive issue and I don't understand how this is not just allowed to continue, but also expand. You can even see "simplified" versions of this for kids. I find it very concerning. You can find a pachinko parlor in almost every town. Most of them have many different ones. For comparison: Can you imagine having a casino in every town?
For a slightly more in-depth explanation of how Pachinko works, in case no one mentioned it yet: The game itself tends to be like a multi-ball version of pinball, without flippers - the better you do, the more balls the game gives you to play. The goal is to increase the handful of balls you started with to a full container of them. You can then redeem them for prizes at the counter like any arcade. At most arcades and parlors, one of the prizes will be gold and silver ingots of varying size and value. Then, you take them either next door, down the street, around the corner, whatever, to sell the ingot for real money. This is why the Game Corner in Pokemon had the slot machines in one building and the prizes in another. Also why the Game Corner was run by Team Rocket, since a lot of pachinko parlors have ties to yakuza.

Pachinko and pachislot are super oddball concepts for me to grasp. The legality is already pretty borderline since Japan constitutionally prohibits most forms of gambling and the very concept of the modern casino. So the best solution is to simply make pinball machines, some of which have slots. Even then, they're still bound to bring addiction. More confusing is some of their IPs and what source material they pull or make. Having started watching anime with Rio Rainbow Gate, a series based on the Rio pachislot series and fully broadcast to Japanese TV, I wanted to know more. But I wound up getting more confused knowing there are Lupin and Ace Attorney machines out there in some parlor in Japan, so even 60s manga and GBA visual novels aren't safe. It was surreal just seeing a Phoenix Wright 3D model in a machine, digital slots with a Fiat 500 drifting right in front of it, and a fanserviced dealer as an actual Koei Tecmo mascot. Digging deeper got me further flabbergasted when I learned a Pink Panther pachislot machine exists. And now the collection here includes the Matrix and Alien vs. Predator. Then we got Crappy.
saw some people in chat talking about this, so for the record - the difference between a pachinko and a pachislot is that pachislots are literally just slot machines. almost all pachinko machines nowadays have slot machine elements, but it’s triggered by balls falling in a specific pocket, with some sort of big bonus that gives you a lot of balls if the screen matches up. those animations are all things that happen if you get close to winning and is just prolonging the third reel for an absurdly long time. pachislots on the other hand are just pure slot machines and are even sometimes used in children’s entertainment centers (where instead of pachinko balls you get tokens that can be used to… play more children’s gambling games with equally mental mechanics, you can’t cash out with those), with the major difference from other slot machines being you can stop each reel manually. there’s also usually some kind of fever rush mode where the odds of winning become absurdly high. anyways, my personal favorite pachinko/slot concept is the beatmania pachislot where that “big bonus” contains a minigame where you play beatmania with the pachislot buttons and the lever. it’s weirdly fully featured for what amounts to an uncomfortable rhythm game you’ll play once for 2 minutes every couple hours you play the machine.
1:40 It's a shame for fans of the franchise in NA that never get to see them because the machines only get release in Japan. My favorite manga series of all time got shafted in its anime. It got a pachinko machine that animated some cool fights from a tournament arc that the anime never made it to.

Essentially yeah, you get like a token thing that you "sell" at this other location for money. It was funny the first time I went with some friends and the lady at the parlor was trying to explain to us what to do with these plastic things
@@williamarcher8780 When I first visited Japan, nobody even had to explain that to me. I just saw everyone exiting the parlor going around the corner to some tiny pawn shop looking place. That's when it clicked. Of course the cops don't know about this. wink wink

Hello its me! Dev of upcoming mugen vinesauce build Heres a small update while im here! Half of the charcters in the first phase have production have been given unique victory lines and i am working on finshing that Any way this video is very interesting
In case you're wondering how pachinko works in a country where gambling is mostly banned: winning awards you more pachinko balls, which you can take to the prize counter to trade for "tokens", which you then take to the pawn shop or exchange counter down the street (which is also run by the parlor's owner) to exchange for cash. It is the most painfully obvious way you could skirt an anti-gambling law and skim a little off the top at every step, but pachinko makes money and money makes taxes, so the government turns a blind eye.
Does anyone here actually play Pachinko? All of this just gives me brain damage. It's like baby stimulation sounds and noises. No one actually falls for this crap, right? RIGHT?

These were fucking fantastic, I'd love to know what was behind the creation of the Jojopoleon one. Wonder what Vinny would think of the Silent Hill "HIT THE LEVER" pachislot ad though, that one was part hilarious part heartbreaking
That Crappy thing would get me totally addicted
22:35 €¥£€£¥£ NUT!!
I can just imagine a 50 year old Japanese man with a tired expression on his face sitting in his back office with a tiny crt tv on his desk, a cigarette between his fingers and a bluetooth headset in his ear watching these videos without even cracking a smile.
Melpert pls...
awesome segment holy shit
If you didn't know what pachinko was... you'd be in for a _real_ disappointment.
I genuinely want those little Matrix Chibis as a pfp
This segment was so damn cool. I never knew I wanted to see Pachinko machines so badly until Sunday night. I really, really hope we get a part 2 🙏 I need to live the high of Darumageddon again
i have never been more pumped for games i will never willingly play
47:00 The Jurassic Park x Evangelion crossover we all needed
that vineshroom in the thumbnail is gonna give me nightmares
翻訳が良すぎるwwwwww
If we took 1% of the effort that they put into these gambling machines, and put it into scientific research, you bet your ass that we'd be immortal.
Hello its me! Dev of upcoming mugen vinesauce build
Heres a small update while im here! Half of the charcters in the first phase have production have been given unique victory lines and i am working on finshing that
Any way this video is very interesting
58:27 That's Richter Belmont
If they advertised gambling this hard over here I'd fold immediately
In case you're wondering how pachinko works in a country where gambling is mostly banned: winning awards you more pachinko balls, which you can take to the prize counter to trade for "tokens", which you then take to the pawn shop or exchange counter down the street (which is also run by the parlor's owner) to exchange for cash. It is the most painfully obvious way you could skirt an anti-gambling law and skim a little off the top at every step, but pachinko makes money and money makes taxes, so the government turns a blind eye.
SUTEPPU APPU YO KOKKU!
Ah, the long awaited Konami Kollection.
NOO, THE SHROOM IN THE THUMBNAIL
I hit a short normal while watching this. It was the best.
The best part of Sorting Algorithm for me was the breathing. 38:30
short normals and big naturals
I expect 15:56 - 15:58 to show up in some ytps
I need more of this.
Thank you Japan
I hope who ever made this pack includes SH2 and MGS3 promotional videos I'm curious to see what they are like
I remember /v/ blowing up when the trailer released, then dying inside upon realizing it was Pachinko
Someone should show Vinny the castlevania one
oo I'm excited to see this, wonder if they got Godzilla vs Evangelion
The Narrator sounds a lot like the Chairman from Iron Chef
Vinny doesn't like The Matrix and loves nirvana and RHCP. Tells you a lot doesn't it?
can't stop laughing at crappy challenge lmao
4:14 Me when Toy Chica
Out of all these I want to play Crappy Challenge the most.
*Crappy Challenge is something that only the Japanese could make sound good*
pachinko games are just slots? Idk why I had it in my head they were like plinko games with the balls LMAO
They're both, combined
@ oh cool! my adhd brain would probably love all the stimulation
Just all the fact of japan always had been weird
18:53 I thought a chat member said "Japanese hymen can be legendary" 😭🤣
Does anyone here actually play Pachinko? All of this just gives me brain damage. It's like baby stimulation sounds and noises. No one actually falls for this crap, right? RIGHT?
That one shroom
I can't stop winning!!!
Jokes aside, this segment was so entertaining and hilarious lol
I’ve never seen the Matrix and of all ways to be spoiled, I’m glad it was a Pachinko ad that did it
Bet you didn't think they'd destroy the fish tank in the third movie
Is the video description AI?
Vinny likes his Crappy Challenges.
