I spanked my son when I heard curse word right from his mouth, as I don’t even say it in our house. Weak or young christians/unbeliever can be easily stumbled hearing it from someone who profess he/she a christian. Interesting content though as always.

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”

It definitely is a sin. Unless used in the right context as you stated ass = donkey although i think the common word would be donkey and probably should go ahead and be used instead of ass. But the most important point that i always use is Jesus wouldn't cuss so neither should we. There are so many good scriptures about not cussing. You may want to do a part 2 and include those. (2 Timothy 2:16, Ephesians 4:29, Colossians 3:8, James 3:9-12. are some good ones.) Thank you for your video. More people should be teaching on this. God bless brother.

all have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOD and we all deserve eternal condemnation in hell, for the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of GOD is eternal life in CHRIST JESUS our LORD (romans 6:23). the FATHER sent HIS only begotten SON into the world (john 3:16), (JESUS is GOD made manifest in the likeness of men, in flesh) (philippians 2:7), to lay down HIS very own precious Life for us all while being mocked, insulted, provoked, humiliated, etc., (luke 23) and to shed HIS very own blood because without blood, there can be no forgiveness of sins (justly) (hebrews 9:22) and the LORD on that cross said one of the most beautiful things, “FATHER, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (luke 23:37), and the LORD physically rose from the grave 3 days later, appearing to over 500 witnesses and HE now offers a new covenant of grace, in which we will never be saved or justified by the law or doing more good than bad, but we are saved by the unmerited love and favor (grace) of GOD through faith in HIM alone (ephesians 2:8) and the children of GOD are sealed with HIS HOLY SPIRIT as a deposit of the promised inheritance until the redemption of GOD’s children that is to come - to the praise of GOD’s glory (ephesians 1:14)! GOD bless you! :)

This was really good. I will never forget an incident when I was eleven years old. I was at a store with my mother. A woman who was walking in the same aisle as us accidentally knocked a glass object off the shelf, and it fell on the ground and shattered. The woman was visibly upset and she said the S word. Being an innocent kid who went to Christian school and almost never heard anyone cuss (this was early 90's, so that kind of language wasn't quite as "normalized" as it is today), I was horrified. But my mom was so gentle and asked, "Are you okay? Let me help you clean that up," and she helped the woman scoop up the glass. She offered to pay for the object, but the store manager said it was okay. The woman who had cussed humbly thanked my mom. That was a real example to me about how to treat others, instead of acting shocked when they used language we might not think is the best. I still don't like profanity, but God used that incident to teach me how to react toward those who use it.

This is such a great story. Thank you for this. I wish that a lot of people would get to read your story. Most times we are forgetting to see the person's heart and focus too much on what was done wrong. I see it a lot in the comment sections of a lot of videos. One person would question or disagree, and they get shred to pieces with bible verses, lectures about fleshly desires and jezebel spirit and such. It will be a never ending lecture from multiple people, in good intentions of course.
They are lecturing nicely, but their lectures have a lot of "you may haves, why would yous and you should nots". We are forgetting to look at the entire picture, that the comment of that person already have 50 somewhat comments of lectures and banters back and forth. In the end the person realize the mistake and still, the lectures go on. The person ended up lashing out because there's a feeling of too much judgement, one after another. The banter starts and they end up pushing that person away.
I try to let them see that we often focus too much on our recited bible verses and our need of wanting to comment to point out the mistake. Why can't they just hold back sometimes when they already know that that person has already been lectured by so many?
A person tried to smoke a pack of cigarettes in one day, would you force that person to go to rehab for drug addiction? But, they will ask that person to check in to rehab in a friendly manner so it should be ok.
When I tried to point it out, because I really feel that the person got too much lecturing. What I got was something in the line of, this is a Christian channel, expect christians and others to reply when someone is being led on the wrong path. It was said again in a nice manner... of course....
Most times, a "Let me help you clean it up", is just what other people need. Just like what your mom did.
I apologize for the long post. Have a blessed day.

Former Marine here too. I used to cuss a lot like most of us did and still do. The Holy Spirit changed all that in me. The change was so profound I know it wasn't me because I was researching evolution vs creation when I was born again. I stopped watching pornography immediately and my language was cleaned up immediately. That's how I know God is real, I was changed so dramatically and I cannot take any credit for it because I wasn't even trying to improve myself in those areas, it was just a natural thing like literally a different person! I realize now that God had been leading me to an opportunity to repent from major alcohol abuse which I did to save my marriage, then I started seeking God and my faith was confirmed and then felt the love of God change in such a powerful way!

I hardly ever swear, but it does fascinate me somewhat how, from many Christian perceptions, you can say things like "bummer" or "dang", but not "sh**" for instance. From what the Bible seems to say, it would appear that you should either be allow to say any of these (provided that it's not used as a means of directly or inadvertently offending someone) or none of them at all. The idea though that some curse words are ok and some are not I think is really something you can only attribute to our own social rules, not the Bible (at least in regards to words that don't carry an inherently derogatory meaning towards anyone)

So excited for this video!!!! I have heard fellow Christians cuss and say that it is fine to do, but when I hear cursing or if I let a word slide out in anger I feel convicted, I feel the need to repent and ask for forgiveness. It does confuse me how other Christians aren't affected like this, bc my way of thinking we all have the same Holy Spirit inside of us and I don't understand why I would feel guilt over it, but others wouldn't? Hopefully this video will be helpful, as all your other content is!!!!!!!!!

I agree with your explanation of things. I've seen far too many who bash those who do swear. I have a friend who is not a Christian yet but has come a long way to being closer to believing. They used to believe there is no God and now are not sure and searching for answers. Former friends who are Christians have bashed them for swearing and been very hypocritical with what they say which has a negative effect on my friend's feelings on things. They've said well if they call themselves Christians but do all of that and then bash me for messing up and swearing then what's the difference and why should I believe and change if they're the same. Our words and actions can make a difference in someone becoming a Christian or not because of what they see and hear. As seeds are being planted others are pulling them out. I'm not perfect but I do ask God regularly to work on me to check my own heart and build others up in word and in deed. I pray that we all do this so that we won't be a stumbling block to others who are watching us.

That's something I've not thought about, so I'll definitely be praying the Lord would give me more awareness. I think there's a lot more to look at as well, such as, context of the word, is it being used towards someone or is it objectively being used, are you offending someone by using such words, etc. I don't think any word is inherently bad, but moreso they way in which it's being used and the intentions behind it. The thing that gets me about "swear" words is how Christians use alternates, thinking it's somehow better. I once had a lady tell me that she'd never use a "swear" word, but used the word "pickle" instead. Like somehow that was better?! Doesn't God see the heart? Isn't anger the same, no matter what letters I use, in what order? Likewise, if I say a word that is perceived by culture as a "swear" word, but mean no harm by it, doesn't God see my heart? What's considered "swear" words now probably won't be in the future, and likewise, some words we used 50 years ago are now swear words. So how about we stop looking at the outside, and try to get at people's hearts? I'm much more concerned if someone hates another person, than if they use "the F word".

Consideration 2 esp is the best point that helps me. I have had a person (who is not a Christian), in my 20s (a decade back) tell me flat that if I wanted to call myself a Christian that was fine or not bc from where he stood, I looked the same as lots of other nice people he knew; I cursed, I smoked, I was not living right all the time but I did talk to people about God and I was a decent human. It's confusing to those on the outside of the Kingdom fam to hear both blessings and cursing come out of the same mouth, really.
Also your point from the cuss word coming from the heart-exactly; what's the overflow that's coming out? It's stupid to argue this bc God says several things about not harming our witness, not being confirmed to this world, not giving off the appearance of evil, and about the tongue and our speech.
Also, for those who argue this one: You do not have to curse around people who curse to "speak their language". If you're sincere/genuine, show respect, and reflect God's heart for them, people will recognize that and in time/with trust earned, allow you access to their hearts. Cussing should never be a "ticket in".

Excellent video. Your comment on how Christians love lists is true. It points to a heart issue as well. We, as humans, love to know where "the line" is, so we can come as close as we can to it without crossing it (which means we love the things of the flesh and the world). Paul alludes to living righteously within the culture you are living in, which means, like this speaker is saying, the intent means everything, and culture determines how words relate to intent.

In the past 40 years, cussing has so permeated our culture it is common and even expected. I remember hearing the d-word on a sitcom in the early 80s and being shocked, as was the live audience which cheered wildly. Now it's almost a badge of honor to have a ton of bleeps on your show, or even commercials. Language and other graphic content is all over pop music. Not just on obscure album cuts. It's the singles, and they have to create a "clean version" for radio airplay.
Gone are the days where it was considered vulgar and low class. But even though society has normalized it and doesn't think it's a big deal, doesn't mean we should follow suit. As Christians called to being salt and light, avoiding such speech will definitely make us stand out. Your points are right on.

" Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him `unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him `unclean. ... But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man `unclean.

I've never been big on GD. I've let 'damn' and 'dammit' slide before, but anytime GD has ever slipped out, I just plain felt bad about it. So it was pretty easy to not say after I felt bad about it enough times.

This is such a good video to explain this! I cannot stand it when Christians get angry at people who cuss around them but then they turn around and say "darn" or "holy crap" or call people negative names, etc. I've read The Holy Bible and It does tell us that ALL foul language and thoughts are wrong as a Christian, not just 6 specific words! I wish more believers could understand this. I think reading your Bible can be a big help to understand this.

Great bud Bro. Allen. I look at it like this, I have the freedom to use a lot of words. Some of them aren’t even considered “cuss words,” but they have terrible implications. I think it’s like you said, it’s not about a list of words. It’s about the heart. I sometimes let words slip around friends but it’s never with any kind of malice or I’ll intent.

So many nations, so many languages. We can use our languages in so many different and lovely ways. The older I get, the more I use my language in ways that is acceptable to God. I do have the tendency to use sarcasm, just as bad. ❤️

There is no argument here, words are powerful and it’s clear curse words or foul language should not be used. Honor Christ in all you do...end of story!

I cuss like a zoo. I agree with your concept of intent. I done reduced my cursing at one point but took the Lord name in vain, so that's worse because it's unambiguous sin. Cussing may depend. I say if I mind my language, then that don't necessarily offend. But I can still tear down with non cuss words. I want my language to build people up and glorify God. But it's a cleanliness thing, and doing different from the world, so an unbeliever can see Christ in me. So minimising profanity is still a desire of mine. Thanks so much for your insights on the issue

Ironically, I had a swearing issue where I would curse under my breath but hardly ever finish the word, but I would curse in my head uncontrollably at myself because, at the time, I had fewer brain cells than a koala.

I belive this post was spot on. 👍Many Christians use " God's still working on me" as a bye for some of the things mentioned in the post. God is still work on us all, but we must do our due diligence, and honor Him with our words and deeds. If it's not life giving or edifying the body of Christ, then we more than likely should refrain from such things.....even cursing, as explained in this post. Outstanding explanation!!! 🤗👍 Thank you for sharing and may God continue to bless you and your ministry.🙏🕆

I work around mechanics all day. It's kinda expected to hear curse words. But they are used more as emphasis rather than their original meaning. I don't curse around strangers. But I do curse around fellow brothers. We all were sinners. Old habits are hard to break.

Same in the restaurant and construction industries. It is a habit and non-offensive to some people. I would say this is an issue of Christian liberty (Romans 14)...if it offends another person or causes them to stumble, we should not do it. However, believers should not be judgmental about it either.

Expand your vocabulary! What you just described seems more like a lack of verbiage to express exactly how your feeling and that is perfectly understandable. We have millions of words in the English lexicon to use, oftentimes we just never learn or hear those words so we resort to the vulgar language by default. This is sad. The average american probably uses less than ten thousand words daily, so you can start to imagine why people can't think of words to express intense anger when the only word they know is "angry" or "mad" so they blurt out "i'm effing p***sed" Not realizing there are so many brilliant ways to express that "enraged, exasperated, furious, heated, impassioned, irritated, indignant, irate, offended, outraged." Although each of these words are about the feeling of anger, they all contain nuances that differ from each other. Isn't that so cool to be able to express the nuances of your feelings instead of just using 4th grade vocabulary mixed with language to make a sailor blush.
I urge you, to take that feeling and use it to learn more feeling words! I promise you'll feel better about your language and you'll bless others ears. First and foremost our language should reflect Christ! I'm praying for you✝✝
